Operating Conditions

• Familiarize yourself with the warranty service terms.
• Do not install or remove the memory card when the dash camera is powered on. Otherwise, the device and recorded video files may be damaged.
• Use only high-quality microSD cards of Class 10 or higher to avoid recording failures and image delays.
• It is recommended to use memory cards from 8GB to 64GB. (The device may support memory cards up to 128GB. For this, the memory card must be formatted to FAT32 on a computer.)
• The device must only be used with accessories from the original package. Viofo is not responsible for possible damage to the product if third-party accessories are used.
• Do not expose the product to fire or moisture, or chemically active substances (gasoline, solvent, reagents, etc.).
• It is forbidden to disassemble or modify the product.
• Viofo is not responsible for data loss and/or direct or indirect damage caused to the user or a third party by incorrect use of the device or software, incorrect installation, or use of non-original accessories.
• Attention! In some cars, power is supplied to the 12/24V socket even when the ignition is off. To avoid battery discharge, it is recommended to disconnect the dash camera from the vehicle's electrical system (remove the power adapter from the cigarette lighter socket).
• Format the microSD card at least once every two months to avoid damage to its file system.
• Observe the storage and operating temperature conditions (see technical specifications). Do not leave the device in direct sunlight for extended periods.
• The GPS module may not work correctly in cars with athermic windshields or heated windshields. Due to the metallic coating in the construction of these windshields, the correct operation of the GPS module may be impaired.
• The 3M adhesive mount is single-use. Choose the correct installation location before placing the mount on the windshield.
• The built-in supercapacitor is designed for correct video recording completion. The device only operates when connected to external power.
• Satellite search time may increase depending on weather conditions, time of day, terrain, and vehicle design features.

The VIOFO A119 Dash Camera is a digital video camera for recording road conditions, equipped with specialized functionality.

The manufacturer reserves the right to make changes to the device's package contents, technical specifications, and software without prior notice.

Technical Specifications

*The dash camera is designed for operation in a wide temperature range. A capacitor, unlike a battery, is more durable and can operate effectively at low and high temperatures.

**The GPS module is designed to synchronize date and time in the dash camera, display and overlay coordinates and vehicle speed on the video.

Button and Function Description

The VIOFO A119 dash camera features several buttons and ports for operation:

• (1) Power On/Off Button (⏻): Turns the device on or off.
• (2) Record/Left Button (◄REC): Starts video recording or navigates left in menus.
• (3) Menu Button (MENU): Accesses the settings menu.
• (4) Emergency Record/Confirm Button (⚠): Initiates emergency recording or confirms selections.
• (5) Microphone/Right Button (MIC►): Toggles microphone on/off or navigates right in menus.
• (6) USB Port on Dash Camera Body: For connecting to a PC or power.
• (7) AV Output: For connecting to an external display.
• (8) Reset Button: For forced device restart.
• (9) Memory Card Slot: For inserting a microSD card.
• (10) USB Port on GPS Mount: For power connection when using the GPS mount.

Dash Camera Installation

1. Mount Installation

1. Insert the mount into the device slot. The mount slides into a dedicated slot on the top of the dash camera body until it clicks securely.
2. Remove the protective film from the 3M adhesive. The mount has a 3M adhesive pad on its base.
3. Choose a suitable location on the windshield to ensure the best viewing angle, and firmly press the dash camera against the windshield to secure it.

2. Power Supply Connection

Insert the car charger into the cigarette lighter socket. Insert the plug into the USB port on the device.

Note: If you are using the mount with a built-in GPS module, please insert the plug into the USB port on the mount body.

For the device to automatically turn on and off after turning the ignition key to the ACC position, use a power cable for connection to the vehicle's electrical system (purchased separately). For information on connection possibilities and features of the fuse box, check with your vehicle manufacturer.

Attention! The manufacturer is not responsible for damage to the dash camera or vehicle components due to incorrect power cable connection. It is strongly recommended to contact a specialized service center.

Power Cable from Vehicle Electrical System

Route the power cable to the fuse box as shown in the diagram (depicted as a cable running from the dash camera, along the windshield edge, down to the fuse box area near the driver's footwell). Connect the power cable to the fuse box according to the instructions:

• Connect the yellow ACC wire end to the accessory fuse (cigarette lighter, etc.).
• Connect the black GND(-) wire end to the vehicle body.

3. Adjusting Viewing Angle

Adjust the viewing angle by rotating the lens in the desired direction (right-left, up-down). Position the lens so that the camera captures the image in a "40% sky / 60% road" proportion for the best recording result.

Device Operation

Device Preparation

1. Insert the MicroSD card into the memory card slot. Before inserting the memory card, turn off the device. Insert the memory card until it clicks into place. To install the card: Orient the microSD card towards the slot as shown in the diagram (depicted as a microSD card being inserted into a slot on the side of the dash camera) and insert until it clicks.

To remove the card: Gently press the card until it clicks, then pull it out of the slot.

ATTENTION: Attempting to insert the memory card in the wrong orientation may damage the device and the memory card itself. Ensure the memory card is in the correct position.

Power On/Off

1. Automatically: Automatically turns on when the engine starts and turns off when the engine stops. When the engine starts (power supplied to the 12/24V car socket), the device will automatically start recording. After the engine is turned off (power disconnected from the 12/24V car socket), the device will automatically stop recording and save the recorded files.
2. Manually: When the device is connected to a power source and the car engine is running, press and hold the Power On/Off button for a few seconds to turn the device off/on.

Loop Recording

1. Insert a microSD card into the memory card slot, and Loop Recording mode will be automatically enabled.
2. Video recording durations can be 1/2/3/5/10 minutes. It is recommended to set the cycle to 3 minutes in the settings.
3. When the memory card runs out of space for new video recordings, the device will automatically overwrite old video files, except for files protected from deletion.
4. Video recordings made in Loop Recording mode are stored in the folder: \DCIM\Movie.

Emergency Recording

Designed to protect the current video file from being overwritten and deleted. To protect the current video file, press the emergency recording button during video recording. The recorded video file will be marked with a special tag that prevents the device from deleting and overwriting it.

Note: "Protected" files can be deleted on a computer by connecting the device to the computer using the included USB cable. To delete a file in playback mode, remove the protection via the Menu, or format the memory card.

1. Emergency recording automatically activates when the G-sensor triggers (sharp acceleration, braking) or a collision occurs. Emergency recording is automatically locked to prevent erasure during loop recording.
2. Emergency recording can be started manually by pressing the Emergency Record button.

Motion Detection

If Motion Detection is activated, video recording will start automatically if movement occurs in the frame. If the camera does not detect movement in the frame for 60 seconds, recording will automatically stop.

Note: This function is intended for use when the vehicle is stationary. Do not enable motion detection while driving, as this may lead to recording interruptions and memory card overflow.

Playback Mode

1. In standby mode, press the Emergency Record/Confirm button (⚠) to open the list of video recordings.
2. To switch between recordings, use the Record/Left (◄REC) and Microphone/Right (MIC►) buttons, and the Emergency Record/Confirm button (⚠) for playback.
3. Press the MENU button to exit Playback mode.
4. To delete the current file, press the Record/Left (◄REC) button and confirm your choice with the Emergency Record/Confirm button (⚠).

PC Connection

1. Connect the device to a computer using the mini-USB cable.
2. The device will automatically turn on.
3. The computer will recognize the device as a removable disk.
4. Three folders will be displayed:
   • /Movie (Loop Recording Files)
   • /EMR (Emergency Recording Files)
   • /Picture (Photos)
5. Copy the desired files to your PC.

Mute Mode

Using the Microphone/Right button (MIC►) during video recording, the user can turn off or turn on audio recording. The corresponding indicator will be displayed on the screen.

Firmware Update

1. Download the firmware file from the official Viofo website, extract the file from the archive.
2. Format the memory card and transfer the extracted file to the microSD memory card.
3. Insert the memory card with the downloaded file into the dash camera's slot.
4. Connect the device to a power source and turn it on.
5. The LED indicator will flash while the firmware file is loading onto the device.
6. Upon completion of the process, the device will automatically restart.
7. Check in the settings menu if the correct firmware version is displayed.
8. Format the memory card through the dash camera's menu.

Attention! Do not disconnect the dash camera's power during firmware update.

Settings

• Resolution: 2560x1440P 30fps, 2304x1296P 30fps, 1920x1080P 60fps, 1920x1080P 30fps, 1280x720P 120fps, 1280x720P 60fps, 1280x720P 30fps.
• Loop Recording: Off/1/2/3/5/10 minutes.
• Exposure: Adjust exposure for better image quality depending on light sources. The value ranges from -2.0 to +2.0. The default value is 0.0.
• WDR Function: On/Off.
• Time-lapse Recording: Off/200ms/1s/2s/5s/10s/30s/1min/5min/10min. Designed for capturing a single frame at a specific time interval. It is not recommended to enable this function while driving to avoid missing important moments of the road situation.
• Motion Detection: On/Off.
• GPS: On/Off. When the GPS function is off, the device does not display current speed and location, and the time/date is not synchronized according to the time zone.
• G-sensor Sensitivity: Low/Medium/High/Off.
• LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System): On/Off.
• FCWS (Forward Collision Warning System): On/Off.

Attention! LDWS and FCWS functions may not work correctly due to poor road markings, non-observance of distance during maneuvers, etc. FCWS and LDWS functions are only available in Full HD 30 fps recording mode.

• Date/Time Stamp: On/Off. Used to display the current date and time on the video.
• Audio Recording: On/Off.
• Screen Lock: Off/1s/15s/30s/1min/3min. Used to turn off display backlight after a specified time interval.
• Button Backlight: On/Off.
• Date/Time: Set current date and time. When using the GPS module, date and time will be set automatically.
• Time Zone: Set time zone for time and date updates via GPS.
• Language: Russian/English.
• Audio Notifications: On/Off.

Attention! The dash camera has a notification function for stopped recording. If audio notifications are disabled, this function is not available. It is recommended to use audio notifications.

• Power Frequency: 50Hz/60Hz.
• Formatting: Formats the microSD card. All files stored on the memory card will be deleted.
• Format Reminder: 15 days/30 days/60 days/Off.
• Factory Settings: Resets all settings to original factory settings.
• License Plate Stamp: Allows setting a 10-character mark on the video. It is recommended to use the vehicle's license plate number.
• Version: Current firmware version.

Troubleshooting

If problems occur with the device while observing operating conditions, use this section to resolve them.

• Unable to take photos or record videos.

  Check if there is enough free space on the microSD card, and if it is not locked.

• Spontaneous recording stops.

  Due to the large volume of video files, use only high-speed microSD cards of Class 10 or higher from verified manufacturers.

• When attempting to view/play photo/video files, the display shows "invalid file".

  Incomplete file recording due to a file system error on the microSD card. Format the microSD card.

• Blurred image.

  Check if there is dirt or fingerprints on the lens. If so, wipe the lens with a soft cloth before use (it is recommended to use special optical cleaning agents to avoid damaging the lens surface).

• Darkened image when photographing sky or water.

  If there is high contrast in the scene, it will affect the exposure. Change the exposure value settings in the menu.

• Freezing (no image on display, unresponsive to button presses).

  Press the RESET button for a forced device restart.
