What You'll Need

Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

• Wi-Fi Access (2.4 or 5 GHz)
• Smartphone or Tablet
• Phillips Screwdriver
• Hammer (for Drywall Installs)
• Drill and Drill Bit (for Drywall Installs)

Note: The Rachio 3 is designed for indoor installation. For outdoor installation, a weather-resistant enclosure is required. Learn more at rachio.com/outdoors.

Installation Steps

1. Step 1: Out with the old! Test your existing system, photograph the wiring, and remove the old controller.
2. Step 2: Mark screw locations. Use the provided mounting template to mark where to install your Rachio 3. For drywall, drill holes and insert anchors.
3. Step 3: In with the new! Mount the new controller by screwing it onto the wall using the provided screws.
4. Step 4: Connect your wires. Insert common wires into the white "C" terminals and zone wires into the blue, numbered terminals. Connect master valve and sensor wires as needed. Visit rachio.com/wiring for advanced wiring tips.
5. Step 5: Create an account. Download the Rachio app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, or visit rachio.com/download. Create your account within the app.
6. Step 6: Connect to Wi-Fi. Open the Rachio app, select "Add Controller," and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your controller to Wi-Fi. The light bar will pulse blue when online.
7. Step 7: Complete setup on the app. Customize your zones and create watering schedules using the Rachio app.
