Desktop Non-PoE Switch

This diagram illustrates a network switch with multiple ports. An 'Internet' connection is shown routed through a 'Router' to the switch's 'WAN Port'. Several 'PC' devices are connected to the switch's 'LAN Ports' using 'Power Cord' connections.

Desktop PoE Switch

This diagram shows a similar network switch, but with ports designated for 'PoE' (Power over Ethernet). Connections are made from 'Internet' via a 'Router' to the 'WAN Port'. 'PC' devices are connected to 'LAN Ports' using 'Power Cord'. Additionally, 'PoE Devices' such as 'IP Camera', 'AP', and 'IP Phone' are shown connected to the PoE-enabled ports.

Notes:

• PoE ports can also connect to non-PoE devices, but only transmit data.
• A reverse PoE switch is a passive PoE switch that gets power from PoE-in ports and supplies power to connected powered device(s) via PoE-out port(s) or DC port. The DC port is a power output port, do not connect it to any power source.
