Preparing for Flight
- Ensure the remote control has 4 "AAA" batteries and the helicopter is fully charged.
- Verify the helicopter is turned on and properly synced with the remote control (see "Syncing Your Helicopter").
- Fly in a large, open room (at least 25 feet radius) free of obstacles. Close windows and doors, turn off fans, and close air ducts to prevent drafts.
Flying Tips
- Parental guidance or adult supervision is recommended at all times.
- Ensure spectators are positioned behind you when flying.
Syncing Your Helicopter
The GYROPTER™ uses an automatic 2.4GHz channel selection system, allowing up to 8 people to fly simultaneously.
For One Person Play:
- Ensure both remote control and helicopter are OFF. Avoid nearby 2.4GHz devices.
- Turn ON the helicopter. The white LED head light will flash rapidly, indicating it's searching for a controller.
- Turn ON the remote control. The power indicator will light up. Pull the trigger all the way down, then up. The helicopter's white LED head light will become solid, indicating a successful sync.
- If the LED does not stay solid, repeat steps 1-3.
For Multi-Person Play:
- Ensure all helicopters and remotes are OFF and no other 2.4GHz devices are active.
- Players must sync their helicopters one by one, following steps 1-3. Ensure no one else is syncing simultaneously.
- Once a helicopter is synced and working, leave it ON while others sync.
- If interference occurs, turn off all remotes and helicopters and restart the process.
Note: Ensure the remote control's trigger is in its default position before syncing.
Understanding Helicopter Trim Adjustments
If the helicopter over-rotates clockwise (drifts right), repeatedly push and release the LEFT trim button until the rotation stops and flight is stable. If the helicopter over-rotates counterclockwise (drifts left), repeatedly push and release the RIGHT trim button. Adjustments may be needed to ensure straight flight and accurate control response.
Diagram Description: Shows pushing the left trim button for right drift correction and the right trim button for left drift correction.
Calibrating the Helicopter
If the helicopter becomes unstable, calibrate the internal gyros. Place the helicopter on a flat, level surface. Press and hold the "Calibrate" button. The helicopter's LEDs will flash quickly and then remain solid, indicating recalibration is complete (Diagram F).
Diagram F Description: Illustrates placing the helicopter on a flat surface and pressing the calibrate button.
Automatically Take Off / Land
Ensure the helicopter is properly synced.
- Press the "Start/Land" button on the controller for automatic takeoff.
- Press the "Start/Land" button again to make the helicopter descend and land automatically.
Flight Controls
For learning, start in a large room. Use one hand for basic flight.
- Ascend/Descend: Pull the trigger to increase main rotor speed and ascend; release the trigger to decrease speed and descend.
- Forward/Backward: Tilt the controller forward to move forward; tilt backward to move backward.
- Spin Left/Right: Tilt the controller left to spin counterclockwise; tilt right to spin clockwise.
Speed Controls: Press the SLOW button (green LED) for beginner mode or the FAST button (red LED) for advanced mode.
Helicopter Warning and Safety Precautions
The helicopter blades rotate at high speeds and can cause injury to users, spectators, and animals. Maintain a safe distance. Warn spectators before flying. Before flight, inspect rotor blades for secure fastening.
Warnings:
- ⚠️ Choking/Cutting Hazard: Small Parts/Sharp Rotor Blades.
- Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from the propeller when the power is ON.
- Turn off transmitter and helicopter power switches when not in use.
- The charging cable is only for the helicopter's Li-poly battery. Do not use it for other batteries.
- Use new alkaline batteries for best performance.
- Parental supervision is recommended during flight.
Part Replacement Instructions
Contents:
- (1) Upper Rotor Blade Set
- (1) Bottom Rotor Blade Set
- (4) Connecting Rods
- (4) Screws
Propeller System:
The propeller system may require repair or replacement due to crash landings. Inspect for damage to blades or connecting rods.
Troubleshooting:
- Replacing Connecting Rods: The connecting rod stabilizes the upper rotors. If broken or missing, remove the old unit and replace it with a new one, applying slight pressure. Ensure it's secured. Check the blade/arm for damage. (See Diagram 1 & 2)
- Replacing Rotor Blades: If control is lost or the helicopter flies erratically after a crash, inspect blades for cracks/chips, connecting rods for breaks, or balance bars for jamming. (See Diagrams 3-12)
Replacing the Upper Rotor Blade:
Use a screwdriver to turn the screw counterclockwise to remove. Remove the broken blade and replace it with a new one. Tighten the screw clockwise. Test for free movement; loosen slightly if needed. (Diagrams 3-7)
Diagram 7 Description: Note the design of the upper blade.
Replacing the Bottom Rotor Blade:
Use a screwdriver to turn the screw counterclockwise to remove. Remove the broken blade and replace it with a new one. Tighten the screw clockwise. Test for free movement; loosen slightly if needed. (Diagrams 8-11)
Diagram 12 Description: Note the design of the bottom blade.
Battery Warnings
Rechargeable Battery:
The helicopter has an internal, non-replaceable Li-Poly battery. Dispose of the helicopter properly if the battery can no longer be charged.
Controller Batteries:
Requires 4 "AAA" batteries. Follow safety warnings:
- Do not mix battery types (alkaline, carbon-zinc, NiMH).
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
- Remove rechargeable batteries before charging (if removable).
- Charge rechargeable batteries under adult supervision.
- Dispose of exhausted batteries properly according to local regulations.
- Do not short-circuit battery terminals.
- Use only recommended battery types.
- Insert batteries with correct polarity.
- Do not dispose of batteries in fire; they may leak or explode.
Care and Maintenance
- Remove batteries from the remote control when not in use for extended periods.
- Clean the remote control and helicopter with a slightly damp cloth.
- Keep the toy away from direct heat or sunlight.
- Do not submerge the toy in water, as it can cause irreparable damage.
- Parental guidance is recommended when installing or replacing batteries.
