Product Overview

The Huawei B818-263 router features various components for network connectivity and status indication. Below is a list of key parts:

Setup

  1. SIM Card Installation

Ensure the correct SIM card type is used: mini-SIM (2FF), micro-SIM (3FF), or nano-SIM (4FF).

To install, open the SIM card cover. Gently insert the SIM card into the SIM card slot in the indicated direction until it clicks. Close the SIM card cover.

To remove the SIM card, gently press it in until it clicks, and it will automatically pop out. Do not insert or remove a SIM card while the router is running, as this may affect performance or damage the SIM card.

Managing Your Router

The router can be managed using its web-based management page. The default IP address and password are found on the label at the bottom of the router. More information is available on the web-based management page.

Optional Configurations

The following features are for reference only and may not be supported by all router models.

Connecting a Computer

A computer can be connected directly to the router to access the Internet.

Accessing the Internet Through an Ethernet Port

The router can be connected to a wall-mounted Ethernet port using an Ethernet cable for Internet access. Relevant settings must be configured on the web-based management page. Contact the carrier for details.

An Ethernet cable is an optional accessory. Contact an authorized retailer for purchase.

FAQs

How do I restore factory settings?

With the router powered on, press and hold the Reset button for approximately 3 seconds using a pointed object until the power indicator turns off. This action restores default settings, which can then be reconfigured.

What should I do if I forgot the Wi-Fi password or the login password for the web-based management page?

Restore the router to its factory settings and use the default Wi-Fi password and login password.

What should I do if the MODE indicator is red or an Internet connection cannot be established?

  1. Check if the SIM card is correctly inserted and is the right size.
  2. If the issue persists, restore the router to factory settings.
  3. Contact the carrier to verify if the SIM card is active and in service.

What should I do if the Internet speed is slow?

  1. Check the signal indicators on the router. If the signal is weak, adjust the router's position or move it closer to a window.
  2. If connected via Wi-Fi, adjust the device's position for better signal reception.
  3. Switch to Wi-Fi 5 GHz if supported by the device.
  4. Restart the router and the connected device.
  5. Check if the monthly data traffic limit has been reached, as carriers may limit speed.

How can I connect to the router using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)?

To connect a WPS-enabled device using the Hi/WPS button:

  1. Press and hold the Hi/WPS button on the router for at least 1 second until the Wi-Fi indicator blinks.
  2. Enable WPS on the device within 2 minutes to connect to the router's Wi-Fi network.

Why can't I access the router's web-based management page?

  1. Ensure the computer is connected to the router via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
  2. Ensure the computer is set to obtain an IP address and DNS server address automatically.
  3. Restart the browser or try another browser.
  4. If the problem persists, restore the router to its factory settings.

Why is the content displayed on the web-based management page not up to date?

Browser cache may cause outdated content. Clear the browser's cache (e.g., Internet Options > General > Browsing history > Delete) and re-launch the web-based management page.

Does my router support 5 GHz Wi-Fi? How do I connect to its 5 GHz Wi-Fi?

  1. Yes, the router supports 5 GHz Wi-Fi, which offers faster speeds and less interference but has poorer wall penetration than 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. It requires devices that support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  2. If 5 GHz prioritization is enabled, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks share the same name, and devices automatically connect to the faster network. If disabled, two Wi-Fi network names will appear, with the 5 GHz network ending in "_5G". This feature can be managed on the router's web-based management page.

If you are experiencing any other issues with the router:

  1. Restart the router.
  2. Restore the router to its factory settings.
  3. Contact your carrier.
