AirCheck™ G3 v2.5 Release Notes
April 29, 2024
These AirCheck G3 Release Notes briefly describe the new features and enhancements included in the release. See software upgrade instructions at the end of this document.
Version 2.5 New Features
Continuous Survey in the AirMapper app
The continuous survey method is considered by many to be an easier way of collecting site survey data because less tapping is required by the user. When performing a continuous survey, the user need only tap when they change walking directions. All sampled data that happened between the last click and the current click is then evenly distributed along a straight line between these two click points.
To access this new survey mode, within the AirMapper app settings, navigate to Survey Mode and select the Auto Sampling option. This is illustrated by screenshots showing the AirMapper app settings screen. The first screenshot displays the 'Survey Mode' option, and the second shows the selection of 'Auto Sampling (Passive)' from a list of options, indicated by a green arrow.
For optimal results with continuous survey, users should walk at a consistent pace and set the Auto Sampling Period to a reasonable value. Large changes in walking speed can cause data to become skewed and inaccurate in the resulting heatmaps.
Continuous survey is well-suited for long hallways or open environments where users can walk their path with minimal interruption.
Problems Filter in the Wi-Fi app
Identifying APs, BSSIDs, or Clients with detected problems is now easier. The Wi-Fi app now allows filtering of device lists by 'Problems'. This is shown in a screenshot of the 'AP Filters' screen, where 'Problems: Wi-Fi' is selected, and a specific 'Wi-Fi (7)' entry is highlighted under the 'Problems' category.
Feature Access Control
The AirCheck G3 PRO offers the ability to semi-permanently disable certain features to meet various security needs. The features that can be disabled include:
- USB Access
- Web Browser App (Chromium)
- Telnet/SHH App (JuiceSSH)
- VNC Remote Control
- Management Wi-Fi Radio
- Bluetooth Radio
- Packet Capture App
- Discovery App
- Link-Live Access
- App Store
The Feature Access option is accessible from the left-side navigation drawer in any NetAlly app. Selecting this option displays which features are currently enabled or disabled. This is demonstrated by screenshots showing the navigation drawer with 'Feature Access' selected, leading to the 'Feature Access' screen which lists features like 'USB Access' and 'Browser App' with their 'Enabled' status.
For detailed instructions on semi-permanently disabling features, refer to the AirCheck G3 Feature Access Control section in the user guide.
