Programming

Coffee Dose Programming: Programming is done using the same button each time; any other button press will be ignored. The programmed coffee dose can be modified by repeating the programming.

  1. Press the On/Stand-by button to turn on the machine. The machine is ready when the On/Stand-by button stops flashing and the dispensing buttons are lit solid.
  2. Lift the capsule loading lever to its stop to open the capsule insertion compartment.
  3. Insert a Lavazza A MODO MIO capsule into the capsule insertion compartment.
  4. Lower the capsule loading lever to close the capsule insertion compartment. Position the cup.
  5. Press and hold the button for the desired icon. The machine starts dispensing, and after about 3 seconds, the other coffee buttons start flashing, and the machine beeps to signal entry into programming mode.
  6. Keep the dispensing button pressed.
  7. Once the desired coffee quantity is reached, stop dispensing by releasing the button. The machine stops, and the dose is programmed.

If the programmed dose exceeds the maximum quantity, the machine will stop dispensing automatically, the dispensing button will flash, and the last programmed value will be saved. If the power fails during programming, the last programmed value will be saved. If a water shortage occurs during dose programming, the machine will stop dispensing, and the dose being set will not be saved. Once the water tank is refilled, the dose programming procedure must be repeated.

Machine Setup

Machine Preparation: The machine has two positions for coffee preparation: espresso cup or large cup.

  1. To use an espresso cup: extract the cup/saucer support. Insert the cup support into the designated slot at the top.
  2. Insert the cup support into the designated slot at the top.
  3. Place the cup on the support.
  4. To use a large cup, place the cup or glass directly on the lower support.

Machine Startup: Position the machine on a flat, stable surface, away from water and heat sources. Damage caused to the machine due to failure to observe these instructions is not covered by the warranty.

  1. Lift and remove the lid, then extract the water tank.
  2. Rinse the tank before use.
  3. Fill the water tank up to the indicated MAX level, using only fresh, still drinking water. Reinstall the tank and close with the lid.

It is possible to lift the lid and refill the tank directly.

The water level must never exceed the MAX. Use only fresh, still drinking water. Hot water and other liquids can damage the tank and the machine. Do not operate the machine without water: ensure there is sufficient water in the tank.

Ensure that your hands, the machine, the cord, and the machine's support surface are not wet.

  1. Insert the power plug into the socket.
  2. Press the On/Stand-by button to turn on the machine. The machine will emit an acoustic signal. All buttons will light up solid white, and the alarm indicators will light up solid orange momentarily.
  3. The machine starts the heating cycle. The On/Stand-by button begins to flash white.
  4. The machine is ready when the On/Stand-by button stops flashing and the dispensing buttons are lit solid.

By pressing one of the dispensing buttons during the heating cycle, you can pre-order the beverage, which will be dispensed at the end of heating.

  1. For the first startup, dispense 0.5 liters of water without a capsule, keeping the lever down. Place a cup under the dispenser spout.
  2. Press the Free Dose button and wait for dispensing to finish.

Open and close the lever before removing and emptying the cup.

  1. Empty the cup and perform a second dispensing by pressing the Free Dose button again.

When dispensing is selected, the machine activates the water electropump for 7 seconds. If water is present in the hydraulic circuit, the machine dispenses normally. If water is not present, the machine interrupts dispensing for 5 seconds and retries dispensing up to 5 times. After 5 attempts, the machine will turn on the water shortage indicator light solid orange to signal the absence of water and emit an acoustic signal.

Activating/Deactivating Acoustic Signal:

  1. Put the machine in stand-by mode.
  2. Press and hold the Espresso and Long Coffee dispensing buttons simultaneously for at least 5 seconds. The machine will emit a long acoustic signal to indicate the disabling of the acoustic signal. Two short acoustic signals indicate activation.
  3. Once the procedure is complete, the machine returns to stand-by mode.

Stand-by Function: To ensure energy saving, after 9 minutes of inactivity, the machine will automatically switch to Stand-by mode. You can manually put the machine into stand-by mode before the 9 minutes by pressing the On/Stand-by button; the machine will emit an acoustic signal. In stand-by mode, the buttons are off, and the On/Stand-by button is lit with reduced brightness. Pressing the On/Stand-by button again will reactivate the machine.

Coffee Preparation

Espresso / Long Espresso Dispensing: Ensure the coffee dispensing buttons are lit solid white.

  1. Position the cup as indicated (see MACHINE SETUP FOR COFFEE PREPARATION).
  2. Lift the lever to its stop to open the capsule insertion compartment.
  3. Insert a Lavazza A MODO MIO or compatible capsule into the capsule insertion compartment.

Never insert fingers or objects into the capsule insertion compartment. Only Lavazza A MODO MIO or compatible capsules should be inserted. Single-dose capsules are designed to dispense only one coffee/product. Do NOT reuse capsules after use. Inserting 2 or more capsules simultaneously will cause the machine to malfunction.

  1. Lower the lever to close the capsule insertion compartment.

If you want a hotter coffee, you can increase the beverage temperature by pressing the Temperature Boost button. The machine will emit an acoustic signal and increase the button's illumination intensity. To return to standard temperature, press the Temperature Boost button again. The machine will emit an acoustic signal and decrease the button's illumination intensity. Temperature cannot be changed during dispensing.

  1. To start dispensing: press the Espresso button (30 ml) or the Long Espresso button (45 ml). The machine finishes dispensing once the programmed coffee dose is reached.

During dispensing, the selected button is lit with a flashing white light. You can interrupt dispensing by pressing the dispensing button again.

If the power supply is interrupted during the dispensing cycle, proceed as follows: Restore power. Press the On/Stand-by button; wait for it to light up solid white. Replace the capsule in the capsule holder with a new one. Restart the coffee dispensing procedure.

If water runs out during the dispensing cycle, proceed as follows: Refill the water tank to the indicated MAX level. Replace the capsule in the capsule holder with a new one. Restart the coffee dispensing procedure.

Dispensing without a capsule may not respect the programmed dose.

  1. At the end of dispensing, lift and lower the capsule loading lever to eject the used capsule.
  2. For a new dispensing, wait until the dispensing buttons and the On/Stand-by button are lit solid white.

Long Coffee Dispensing: Follow steps: 1, 2, 3 and 4 from the Espresso Dispensing paragraph.

  1. Press the Long Coffee button (90 ml) to start dispensing. The machine automatically stops dispensing once the programmed coffee dose is reached.

During dispensing, the selected button is lit with a flashing white light. You can interrupt dispensing by pressing the dispensing button again.

  1. At the end of dispensing, lift and lower the capsule loading lever to eject the used capsule.
  2. For a new dispensing, wait until the dispensing buttons and the On/Stand-by button are lit solid white.

Free Dose Dispensing: Follow steps: 1, 2, 3 and 4 from the Espresso Dispensing paragraph.

For soluble capsules, to best enjoy the product, a brief empty dispensing (with water only) is recommended before inserting the capsule.

  1. Press the Free Dose button to start dispensing. Once the desired coffee quantity is dispensed, press the button again to stop dispensing.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Machine Cleaning: Never use solvents, alcohol, or aggressive substances, or ovens for drying machine components. Wash components (excluding electrical ones) with cold/lukewarm water and non-abrasive cloths/sponges. All removable components are dishwasher safe. Do not leave water in the circuit and tank for more than 3 days; if this happens, empty, rinse, and refill the tank with fresh water, then perform a dispensing (without capsule) before dispensing coffee or a beverage.

Coffee Dispenser Cleaning: For cleaning the dispenser, perform the COFFEE DISPENSING procedure weekly without inserting the capsule.

Drip Tray and Used Capsule Collection Drawer Cleaning: The illumination of the used capsule drawer indicator means the used capsule drawer is full and needs to be emptied and reinserted.

  1. Extract the drip tray and the used capsule collection drawer. Empty the used capsules and any liquids from the drip tray.

The machine emits an acoustic signal to indicate the removal of the capsule drawer.

Extracting the drawer for more than 5 seconds resets the count of inserted capsules.

  1. Remove the drip tray and capsule drawer. Empty the used capsules and liquids present in the drip tray.
  2. Wash all components with cold or lukewarm water or in the dishwasher. Dry and reassemble them correctly.

Periodically check that the drip tray is not full to avoid liquid spills.

Descaling: Read the descaling instructions carefully. Limescale formation is a normal consequence of using the machine; descaling is necessary every 2-3 months of use or when dispensing difficulty is observed. The descaling cycle is requested by the machine by lighting the relevant indicator light. Do not turn off the machine during the descaling cycle. Do not leave during the descaling cycle. Once started, the cycle must be completed. Verify that no capsules are present in the capsule insertion compartment. Remove and empty the water tank. Do not drink the descaling solution or dispensed products until the cycle is complete. Never use vinegar as a descaler. For descaling, it is recommended to use LAVAZZA DESCALER.

  1. Fill the tank with LAVAZZA DESCALER (250 ml) and water (250 ml).

Clean any splashes or drops with a damp cloth.

  1. Reassemble the tank on the machine.
  2. Place a container with a capacity greater than 0.5 liters under the dispenser.
  3. With the machine in stand-by, press and hold the Espresso Long and Free Dose buttons simultaneously for at least 3 seconds.

The appliance emits a long acoustic signal, and the On/Stand-by, Long Coffee buttons, and the descaling indicator light up solid. Press the Long Coffee button to start the descaling cycle. If the Long Coffee button is not pressed within 9 minutes of the acoustic signal, the machine will return to stand-by mode, and you will need to repeat step 5 of the procedure to start the cycle.

  1. The machine will automatically start descaling after the heating cycle is completed.

During the descaling cycle, the Long Coffee button flashes, and the descaling indicator is solid. The On/Stand-by, Water Shortage, and Long Coffee buttons are solid. Descaling indicator flashes. During the descaling cycle, the machine automatically performs intermittent dispensing cycles to allow the container to be emptied. You can temporarily suspend the descaling cycle by pressing the Long Coffee or On/Stand-by button. To resume the cycle, press the Long Coffee button. When the machine has used up the liquid in the tank, the cycle is temporarily suspended. Empty the container used for collecting the solution. Remove the water tank, rinse it, and wash it thoroughly. Refill it with fresh, still drinking water up to the MAX level. If the power supply is interrupted, the machine will request the rinsing cycle upon first startup. Insert the tank with water. Place a container with a capacity greater than 0.5 liters under the dispenser. Press the Long Coffee button to start the rinsing cycle. At the end of the first rinsing cycle, refill the tank with water and start the second rinsing cycle. To complete the rinsing cycle, a minimum amount of water must be dispensed. If water runs out, the cycle is temporarily interrupted; the machine emits a long acoustic signal, and the water shortage indicator lights up solid. Refill the tank. After dispensing, clean the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Once cleaning is complete, the descaling process is finished. The machine is ready for use.
