Rigging Options
1:1 up-down control: The control line is spliced or knotted directly to the thimble at the pivot base.
2:1 up-down control: A control line is routed around the thimble at the pivot base.
Use
To rig the block: Hold the block in one hand and use your index finger to press the release button. Load the sheet onto the block. Close and latch the sideplate. Listen for an audible click to confirm it is secured.
IMPORTANT! Do not load the sheave if the sideplate is unlatched. Always confirm the sideplate is latched before applying load.
Use (continued)
If the sheet is larger than 5/16" (8 mm), remove the anti-capsize bar to allow a larger sheet to be used. The anti-capsize bar may also be removed for 1:1 up-down control setups using a spliced eye to prevent capsizing.
IMPORTANT! The anti-capsize bar is not designed to secure loaded lines; use the thimble and sheave for this purpose.
To adjust sideplate rotation friction, tension the adjusting nut.
WARNING! Over-loosening the adjusting nut can disengage the lock mechanism or allow the nut to spin freely, failing to secure the block. If the nut spins without tools, it is too loose and should be replaced with a Nylock® nut (a registered trademark of Nylok Corporation).
Maintenance
Periodically clean the release button mechanism, sheave, and hinge base using a mild detergent and water solution. Distribute the solution by spinning the sheave, then open and close the sideplate. Flush with fresh water. Do not use lubricants on the sheave.
