Safety & Warnings
Ensure to read all instructions and warnings in this user guide prior to first use. Retain this user guide for future reference.
WARNING: This drone may need to be registered. Check with your local authority on the rules for registration.
- Do not attempt to touch the drone whilst it is operating under any circumstances.
- This drone is not a toy and can be dangerous when used incorrectly. Follow all instructions while operating. Disassembling or modifying the drone arbitrarily, operating improperly, or being unfamiliar with this product may lead to an accident and possible injuries.
- This drone is intended for use by persons aged 14 years or older. It is recommended that people between 14-18 years operate the drone under adult supervision.
- Ensure the drone is operated in a safe environment.
- It is recommended that you seek the assistance of an experienced drone pilot before attempting to fly the drone for the first time. Asking a local expert is the best way to properly assemble, setup, and fly your drone for the first time. It requires a certain degree of skill to operate and is subject to normal wear and tear.
- Do not fly this drone higher than 120 metres above ground level.
- Do not fly multiple drones simultaneously. Only one drone can be flown at any given time.
- Do not allow the drone to fly out of visible range.
- Ensure the drone is flown at least 30 metres away from any people.
- Do not fly the drone overpopulated areas (for example, beaches, parks, and event venues).
- Do not fly drones within 5.5km of airports. Many locations are considered no-fly zones and you must ensure that you fly in areas that align with local laws and ordinances.
- Do not record or photograph people without consent.
- Drones are prone to accidents and failures when piloted incorrectly. Operators are responsible for their actions as well as any damage or injury caused by pilot error and radio interference.
- This drone is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Always fly in a place clear of obstacles and do not fly the drone in a way that would cause hazards to nearby people and property.
- Do not operate the drone in unsafe conditions and keep clear of heat sources, wires, or electric power sources.
- Do not fly the drone over areas affecting public safety or where there are emergency operations taking place.
- This drone contains electrical components. Always keep this drone away from water and other liquids. Exposure to water or moisture in any form can cause this drone to malfunction resulting in a crash.
- To avoid a potential fire hazard, do not short, reverse the polarity, or puncture batteries. Battery charging must be done under supervision and in a location out of reach of children.
- Remove the batteries if they will not be used on the drone for an extended period. Always dispose of old batteries according to the laws of local environmental authorities.
- Li-Polymer batteries pose higher operational risks compared to other battery types; thus, it is imperative to follow its usage instructions.
- Avoid contact between the battery and metallic objects.
- If there is an increase in battery temperature after operation, cease use immediately and allow it to cool down. Continuous use of this battery may cause it to expand, deform, explode, or result in potential fire hazards.
- Do not place heavy objects directly onto the drone or any of its components.
- Images used in this user guide are for reference only.
- There is a certain risk when using a lithium battery. It may cause fire, bodily injuries, or property loss. Users must be aware of the risks and take full of responsibility if using the battery improperly.
- If battery leakage occurs, avoid contact with your eyes or skin. If there is contact, wash your eyes with water and seek medical care immediately.
- Remove the plug immediately if there is any peculiar smell, noise, or smog.
- Do not use third-party chargers.
- Do not charge a diluted or outworn battery.
- Do not overcharge the battery. Unplug the charger once fully charged.
- Do not charge the battery next to inflammables (for example, carpet, timber floors, wood furniture, or on the surface of electro-conductive objects).
- Always keep an eye on the battery when charging.
- Do not charge the battery if it has not had sufficient time to cool after use.
- The ambient temperature when charging is between 0–40°C.
- Do not dispose of the battery as rubbish. Familiarise yourself with the local disposal laws and follow them accordingly.
- If the drone is damaged, cease use immediately and contact help.Kogan.com for support. Do not fly the drone if it is damaged (e.g., broken rotor blades) as it could cause injury.
- If you won't be using the drone or transmitter for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent damage from potential leakage.
- Avoid crashing the drone from high altitudes or subjecting it to severe impacts, as this can shorten its lifespan.
- The remote control range may decrease if the drone or transmitter has low power.
- Do not fly near strong electromagnetic sources such as power lines as it may affect the compass.
Disposal
This marking indicates that this appliance should not be disposed with other household wastes. To prevent possible harm to the environment or human health from uncontrolled waste disposal, recycle it responsibly to promote the sustainable reuse of material resources.

Overview

Notes:
- Each propeller is labelled with either A1/A2 or B1/B2. Ensure that you install each propeller in the correct position as illustrated above. Incorrect installation may prevent the drone from taking off.

Assembly
Assemble the Propeller Guards
For the safety and protection of yourself and others, ensure that the propeller guards are installed prior to flight. Install the propeller guards to the motor base according to the diagrams below.

Changing Blades
- Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws. Remove the propeller by giving it a gentle pull.
- Install the propeller. Each propeller is marked either A1/A2 or B1/B2. Install the propeller in the correct position as shown below. Otherwise, the drone may fail to take off or fly out of control.

Transmitter Installation

Note: Always pay close attention to battery polarity to ensure they are fitted correctly.
SD Card Storage
- Without an SD memory card inserted, photos and videos taken by the drone will only be stored on your phone.
- With an SD memory card inserted, photos and videos taken by the drone will be stored on both your phone and the SD memory card.

Charging the Drone Battery
- Remove the battery from the bottom of the drone.
- Insert the USB charging cable into a USB charging port.
- Connect the other end of the USB charging cable into a power adapter or computer (not provided). The battery indicator illuminates red when the battery is charging.
- When the battery indicator turns green, the battery is fully charged.

Notes:
- Charge the drone fully before use for best performance.
- The charging time is approximately 80-90 minutes.
- Flight time is approximately 10 minutes.
- When the drone's battery power is low, the LED lights on the drone will begin flashing. When the transmitter's battery is low, the light on the transmitter will flash.
Phone Holder
There is x1 foam pad included. Attach the foam pad to the phone holder, positioning it according to the location of your phone's buttons. Refer to the figure below for guidance.

Download the GX-FPV App
Search for the ‘GX-FPV” app in your phone's app store, download and install it. Alternatively, scan the QR code below to download and install the app.

Pairing
- Turn on the drone.
- Enter the Bluetooth settings menu of your mobile device.
- Search for ‘Kogan-Drone- xxXXx' and tap 'Connect'.

Operation
WARNING:
- Rotating propellers can be dangerous. Do not start the motor when there are people nearby.
- If the motor is still spinning, always keep your hands on the transmitter.
Pair the Drone
Place the drone on a flat, level surface with the front (camera side) facing forward and the tail towards the pilot. Then, turn on the drone.

Next, turn on the transmitter. The transmitter will beep twice. When the lights on both the drone and the transmitter stop flashing, they have successfully paired automatically. If the lights continue to flash, manually align the frequency by pushing the left control stick up and then down until the lights stop flashing.

Calibrate the Gyro
After pairing, press the 'Gyro Calibration' button. The drone's LED lights will flash for 2-3 seconds. Once the lights turn solid, calibration is complete. For stable flight, it is recommended to calibrate the gyro after pairing the drone and after any crash. Do not attempt to calibrate the gyro while the drone is in flight.

Take Off and Landing
- After pairing and calibration, push the left joystick up to start the propellers. This indicates that the drone is unlocked and ready for take-off.
- Press the 'Take-off/Landing' button, and the drone will automatically rise to a height of 40 cm.
- To land, press the ‘Take-off/Landing' button again, and the drone will automatically descend.
- After landing, wait for the motor to stop spinning. Turn off the remote BEFORE turning off the drone. This ensures that no accidental signals are sent by the remote, reducing the risk of injury. Once this is done, it is safe to pick up and power off the drone.

Flight Control
Rise and fall control:
Rotate the left control stick - up or down and the drone will rise or fall.

Forward and backward control:
Rotate up or down on the right control stick and the drone will fly forward or backwards.

Turn left and right:
Rotate the left control stick left or right and the drone will rotate to the left or to the right.

Fine-tuning
Press the right lever vertically, hear the beep and see the light flashing to enter the fine-tuning mode, then proceed as follows.
- If the drone keeps drifting leftwards when hovering, press the right joystick to the right to adjust until it is balanced.
- If the drone keeps drifting rightwards when hovering, press the right joystick to the left to adjust until it is balanced.
- If the drone keeps flying backwards when hovering, press the right joystick upward to adjust until it is balanced.
- If the drone keeps flying forwards when hovering, press the right joystick downward to adjust until it is balanced.

Note: Even after the drone is calibrated, it may show a tendency to drift while airborne. Fine-tuning will help counter this effect and allow better control of the drone. But it will not eliminate it. Air currents and other factors may still cause slight drift while airborne.
Altitude Hold
- This drone is equipped with an Altitude Hold function, allowing it to hover steadily in the air.
- During flight, the Altitude Hold function lets you release the throttle joystick while maintaining the drone's height, preventing it from descending to the ground.

Spin Mode
- Press and hold the 'Spin' button, and the drone will begin spinning in a circle.
- Press the button again to exit spin mode.
- Use the left control stick to adjust the drone's height while it is spinning.

Note: Before pressing the ‘Spin' button, ensure you fly the drone at least 2.5m away from any objects.
Speed
- The drone has three speed modes: Low, Medium, and High. Press the 'Speed' button on the transmitter to cycle through these modes.
- One beep from the transmitter indicates Low speed, two beeps indicate Medium speed, and three beeps indicate High speed.
- The default setting is Low speed.

Emergency Stop
- If you need to stop the drone immediately, press the 'Emergency Stop' button or pull the left joystick all the way down. This will stop the propellers from spinning.
- Ensure the area below the drone is clear of any objects, as this command will cause the drone to shut down and crash land.

Note: The emergency stop function should only be used during flight in case of an emergency to prevent damage or injury.
Flip Mode
- Once you're comfortable with the drone's basic functions, you can try the using Flip mode.
- Ensure the drone is at least 3m away from any objects.
- Press the 'Flip' button and move the right joystick in any direction; the drone will flip in the corresponding direction.

Note: The drone will perform these manoeuvres best with a fully charged battery.
Headless Mode
Note: Do not use Headless mode until you fully understand the instructions in this user guide. Flying in Headless mode without sufficient experience could result in the loss or damage of the drone.
- Place the drone in front of you before pairing it with the transmitter. Ensure the drone's head is facing forward and the tail is facing you.
- After pairing and calibration, press the 'Headless Mode' button to activate the function. You will hear a beep from the transmitter, and the drone's lights will start flashing while the ‘Headless Mode' button on the transmitter flashes, indicating that the drone is now in Headless mode.
- To exit Headless Mode, press the ‘Headless Mode' button again. The drone's lights will stop flashing and become solid, and the ‘Headless Mode' button on the transmitter will stop flashing, indicating the drone has exited Headless mode.
- In Headless mode, the forward direction is determined by the direction you were facing when you paired the drone with the transmitter.
- Ensure that you remain facing the same direction as the drone's head when it takes off. It is crucial not to change your orientation, as doing so may cause the drone and transmitter to lose connection, leading to undesired control issues.

Using the VR Headset

Control your viewing angle by tilting your head.

WARNING: Do not use the VR headset while the phone is charging. If you feel dizzy or unwell, take a break immediately. Pregnant women, individuals with high blood pressure, and those with a fear of heights should not use the VR headset.

Troubleshooting

Common Problems
- Ensure the VR app is set to split-screen mode (side-by-side mode) for proper viewing.
- Remove the smartphone from the side of the VR viewer.
- When placing the smartphone into the viewer, align it with the centreline for optimal performance.
- Adjust the IPD and eye distance settings to prevent dizziness.
