CT-199 MODEL Flow Rate vs. Temperature Rise

- Another line shows the flow rate for a set temperature of 130 °F (55 °C) or higher.

Tankless Condensing High Efficiency Specifications
The A.O. Smith model CT-199 is a fully modulating, on-demand, condensing gas-fired tankless water heater with a maximum input rating of 199,000 Btu/h, available for Natural Gas (NG) or Propane (LP). It features 3/4 in. male NPT water and gas connections.
Gas Supply Pressures:
- NG: 4.0 in. WC (min.) up to 10.5 in. WC (max)
- LP: 8.0 in. WC (min.) up to 14 in. WC (max.)
Indoor Heater Features: Integrated temperature controller providing diagnostic information, fault history, and heater set temperature. Includes a factory-installed power cord.
Outdoor Heater Features: Factory supplied with a temperature remote (model 100209924) that can be installed up to 400 ft. from the heater using 18 gauge control wire. The remote provides diagnostic information, fault history, and heater set temperature.
Power Requirements: Operates using a 120 V / 60 Hz power source.
Venting:
- Indoor heaters: Vented with 3” or 4” diameter schedule 40 PVC, CPVC, ABS, or Category IV vent pipe. Maximum length not to exceed 70 ft. for 3” vent or 100 ft. for 4” vent, terminating horizontally or vertically. Intake pipe may use PVC, ABS, aluminum, or Category IV pipe and cannot exceed 70 ft. for 3” vent or 100 ft. for 4” vent.
- Outdoor heaters: Constructed with an integral exhaust vent on the front of the heater.
Heat Exchanger:
- Primary: Commercial-grade copper, fin tube with quick release brass or bronze waterways.
- Secondary: Stainless steel 316L.
Control System: On-board solid-state printed circuit board with thermistors for water and exhaust temperature monitoring, a flow sensor, a flame sensor, and an Air-Fuel Ratio Rod for optimal combustion efficiency. Includes in-line fusing, surge absorbers, electronic spark igniter, hi-limit temperature switches, modulating gas valve, and dual freeze protection (indoor model only) with heating blocks.
Manifolding:
- Easy-Link: Up to 4 heaters can be manifolded without external controls.
- Multi-Unit Controller: For manifolding 5-20 heaters. Controllers modulate the system for efficient performance and rotate the priority heater every 12 hours or 100 starts for balanced duty/cycle operation.

- CSA approved for sale in the United States and Canada.
- ENERGY STAR® qualified with a minimum uniform energy factor of 0.93.
- Meets U.S. Department of Energy and ASHRAE 90.1-2007 energy efficiency requirements.
