Qolsys IQ Outlet User Guide

Model: QZ2130-840 (Plug In Switch)

Introduction

The Qolsys IQ Outlet is a Z-Wave Plus® certified device featuring S2 security and SmartStart capabilities. It allows for secure and easy addition to compatible Z-Wave gateways using a QR code. This device communicates with other Z-Wave certified devices, extending the Z-Wave mesh network range. It can control lamps or AC-operated appliances, turning them ON or OFF remotely or manually. The IQ Outlet is designed not to block the second AC outlet and includes a grounded 3-pin plug for safety, along with an internal resettable fuse.

Features:

Warning: Risk of fire, electrical shock & burns. Do not use with medical and life support instruments. No user-serviceable parts inside.

Appliance Load Limits: The connected appliance must not exceed 900W incandescent, 200W CFL/LED, 1½ horsepower motor, and 15A, 1800W resistive load.

Setup

  1. Plug the AC power plug of the appliance into the receptacle of the IQ Outlet.
  2. Insert the module's 3-pin plug into an AC outlet in the same room as your gateway.
  3. Inclusion/Exclusion: Add or remove the device into your Z-Wave network using a certified controller. The IQ Outlet supports S2 security and SmartStart. Refer to your controller's user guide for detailed instructions. You can add the IQ Outlet using the QR code or DSK 5-digit pin. Alternatively, use the traditional Z-Wave method:
    1. Place your network controller into inclusion mode.
    2. When the controller is ready, single-click the button on the front of the IQ Outlet. The controller should confirm successful addition.
    3. Once added, move the IQ Outlet to its preferred location.

If inclusion fails, repeat the procedure. For manual reset, unplug the IQ Outlet, press and hold the button, then plug it back in. Release the button after 3 seconds. If the button blinks, the reset was successful.

Note: Resetting the device locally does not remove it from your controller software. To remove it, use the controller's exclusion function. If removed from an S2 security network, re-adding requires the QR code or DSK code.

Basic Operation

The connected lighting devices can be controlled manually via the push button or wirelessly with a remote controller. The push button also serves as a manual ON/OFF toggle switch for the connected appliance. The button is backlit with an LED indicator: ON when the appliance is OFF, and OFF when the appliance is ON, making it easy to locate in the dark.

A Z-Wave certified controller can be used to assign the IQ Outlet to a group. Refer to your controller's manual for details. The IQ Outlet will return to its last setting after a power failure.

Advanced Configuration

If your controller supports Z-Wave configurable parameters, the following settings can be modified:

# Description Parameters Default Bytes
3 Nightlight When value = 0, the LED indicator will be OFF when the connected appliance is ON, and ON when the appliance is OFF.
If value = 1, the LED indicator will be OFF when the appliance is OFF, and ON when the appliance is ON.
If value = 2, the LED indicator will be always OFF.
