Camelion CM9398 Battery Charger User Manual
Model: CM9398
Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of a Camelion Charger.
This charger has 4 channels for charging AAA, AA, C, D rechargeable batteries, and 2 channels for 9V rechargeable batteries. The built-in battery tester provides the battery status. Based on different battery capacity, the time of charging requirement can be selected. When the preset time is reached, the charger will automatically switch to trickle charge from fast charge mode. It ensures that the damage of the rechargeable batteries caused by over-charging will be minimized.
For Your Safety
To prevent damage to this unit or injury to yourself or to others, please read the following operating instructions before usage. Keep this operating instructions for your reference needed.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Clean the charger with a clean dry cloth. Keeping the metal contacts clean will also help maintain performance.
If the LED status indicator does not light up make sure that the unit is properly plugged into the wall and the switch is set to the correct position. If the indicator still fails to light up or flashes, the unit may be defective, improperly inserted or the presence of short circuit.
If a short circuit is suspected, please do not attempt to repair the unit yourself and bring the unit to an authorized Camelion repair center.
When charging different capacity/type batteries, the charging time should be calculated based on the charging times of similar capacity/type batteries. Refer to the appropriate charging table. Incorrectly insert the batteries and avoid reversing the +/- polarities. If power after the batteries are fully charged, charging will continue in trickle mode. The charger is intended for use with Ni-MH batteries only. Charging other battery may cause explosions, breakage, personal injury or property damage.
Incorrect use may result in electric shock.
Keep away from humid and hot places, places where children can reach.
Do not disassemble or repair the charger. Never try to open or repair the rechargeable batteries.
Different batteries should not be mixed in different sizes or capacities.
If the external flexible cable is damaged, it shall be replaced by the manufacturer or his service agent or a similar person in order to avoid a hazard.
Do not use this charger with a damaged AC adapter, plug or socket outlet.
Batteries may contain hazardous materials, and may be non-disposable. Please contact the battery company for a proper disposable method.
Instructions
- Insert the AC power supply cord into AC mains outlet.
Charging
The charger has 4 channels for charging AAA, AA, C, D rechargeable batteries, and 2 channels for 9V rechargeable batteries.
1. Positioning the Charger and Batteries
Insert the AC power supply cord into the AC mains outlet.
Position the charger on a flat surface. Insert batteries into the appropriate slots, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
2. Selecting Charging Mode
Set the function switch on the unit to "charge" position. The corresponding LED will light up.
- When AAA/AA/C/D types rechargeable batteries are inserted, the corresponding LED will light up.
- When 9V battery is inserted, the red LED will light up.
- If the charger is switched to trickle charge mode and the green LED will light up. Please note that there is no trickle for 9V battery, so the "9V" red LED will continue to light up.
3. For Charging
Insert 1.2V rechargeable battery (AAA, AA, C, D cell) to the first slot close to function switch. The clear LED will light up.
Remember: You first determine if the battery is rechargeable by testing it. If the clear LED glows weakly, the battery can be recharged.
When charging period is completed, if the battery does not brightly light the clear LED, discard it.
Note: Only test 1.2V batteries (AAA/AA/C/D cells). Higher voltage batteries will burn out tester bulb.
4. For Discharging
Switch the function switch on the unit to the "discharge" position. (Please note that this charger cannot discharge 9V batteries) All the LEDs will go off to indicate batteries are in discharge mode.
5. Charge Times
The rechargeable battery charge time depends on the nominal capacity. To determine the charge time for your batteries, divide the imprinted capacity by the charging current and multiply by 1.2. You can determine the charge time for e.g. a discharged Ni-MH rechargeable battery with 2500mAh: 2500/250 = 10.2, 10.2 x 1.2 = 11.04 hours. Set the timer on your Camelion charger to 12 hours. For more information about charging times of our Camelion chargers, please visit our website:

Hot Tip
To prevent overcharging, note the appropriate charging time for each rechargeable battery and set the Time Control Feature accordingly. For example if you are inserting a Ni-MH 2500mAh battery which requires 12 hours charging, you can set the time first for 3 hours. When the red light switches off you can set it for an additional 9 hours.
Battery Tester
To test the battery:
- Position the cursor principal upon "Test".
- Insert 1.2V (AAA, AA, C or D cell) into the first slot close to function switch. The clear LED will light up.
- Remark: You first determine if the battery is rechargeable by testing it. If the clear LED glows weakly, the battery can be recharged.
- When the charging is completed, if the battery does not brightly light the clear LED, discard it.
- Note: Only test 1.2V batteries (AAA/AA/C/D cells). Higher voltage batteries will burn out tester bulb.
If you want to test a 9V battery, insert it into the 9V slot and set the function switch to "Test". The red LED will light up. If the LED glows weakly, the battery can be recharged.
If you want to test batteries (AAA/AA/C/D cells) in discharge mode, you can set the function switch to "Discharge". The LED will light up.
If you want to test batteries (AAA/AA/C/D cells) in charge mode, you can set the function switch to "Charge". The LED will light up.
