Getting Started

Before setting up your remote control, ensure all home theater equipment is powered ON.

1. Battery Installation: Remove the battery cover by squeezing the bottom case and sliding it off. Insert 2 AA batteries, matching the positive (+) and negative (-) marks. Replace the battery cover.

Setup Methods

This section details how to set up your remote to control your TV and Set-Top Box (STB).

Popular TV Brands Setup

Follow these steps to set up your remote for popular TV brands:

1. Turn your TV ON.
2. Locate your TV brand in the "POPULAR TV BRANDS" chart and note the assigned DIGIT key.
3. Press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice.
4. Press the TV POWER key twice.
5. While aiming the remote at the TV, press and HOLD the DIGIT key corresponding to your brand.
6. Release the DIGIT key when the TV turns OFF. Test volume keys to ensure they control the TV volume. If the TV does not respond as expected, repeat the process.

Code Search (TV)

Use this method if your brand is not listed in the popular brands chart:

1. Press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice.
2. Press the TV POWER key once.
3. While aiming the remote at the TV, PRESS and HOLD the TV POWER key until the TV turns OFF.
4. Press the TV POWER key again to turn the TV ON. If the TV responds as expected, the setup is complete.
5. If the remote does not control the TV correctly, repeat the process using the next available code for your TV brand.

Code Search (STB)

Use this method to set up your remote for Set-Top Boxes (STB):

1. Press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice.
2. Press the STB POWER key once (this is the unlabeled key in the upper right corner).
3. While aiming the remote at the STB, PRESS and HOLD the STB POWER key until the STB turns OFF.
4. Press the STB POWER key again to turn the STB ON. If the STB responds as expected, the setup is complete.
5. If the STB does not respond correctly, repeat the process using the next available code for your STB brand.

Direct Code Entry (TV)

Use this method for direct code entry for TV control:

1. Press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice.
2. Press the TV POWER key once.
3. Enter the first TV code for your brand from the code list. The LED will blink twice.
4. Test the POWER and VOLUME controls. If the TV responds as expected, setup is complete.
5. If the remote does not control the TV as expected, repeat the process using the next code for your TV brand.

Direct Code Entry (STB)

Use this method for direct code entry for STB control:

1. Press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice.
2. Press the STB POWER key once (unlabeled upper right corner key).
3. Enter the first code for your STB brand from the code list. The LED will blink twice.
4. Press the CH+ button to see if the STB channel changes. If it does, setup is complete.
5. If the STB channel does NOT change, repeat the process using the next code for your STB brand.

Setting Volume Controls

You can lock the volume control to either your TV or your STB.

Locking Volume to TV:

1. Press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice.
2. Press the VOLUME + key. The LED will blink twice.
3. Press the VOLUME + key again to test if the TV volume changes.

Unlocking Volume (sets volume to control STB):

1. Press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice.
2. Press the MUTE key. The LED will blink four times.
3. Press the VOLUME + key to test if the STB volume changes.

Learning Other Remote Key Functions

This feature allows your Slate remote to learn commands from other remotes.

1. Press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice.
2. Press the number 9-7-5. The LED will blink twice.
3. Press the key on the Slate remote that you wish to learn a new function onto. The LED will flash rapidly.
4. Hold the teaching remote close to the Slate remote's IR LED and press the key you want to learn.
5. The LED on the Slate remote will turn off. Continue pressing the teaching key until the LED blinks twice, indicating the function has been learned.
6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 for any other keys you wish to learn.
7. To exit learning mode, press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice.

Tip: To save time and reduce confusion, program learning keys in order from the top to the bottom of the remote.

Programming a Macro

Create macros to perform a sequence of commands with a single button press.

1. Press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice.
2. Enter 9-9-5, then press the key you want to assign to the macro.
3. Enter the desired macro key sequence.
4. Press and HOLD the SETUP key until the LED blinks twice to save the macro.
