¹ Doorlocks and trunk release features on the module will not operate on vehicles that are not equipped with OEM keyless entry.
² If puddle light function is active in vehicle settings.
³ Available on AL-CA modules in DATA and STANDARD mode. Available on DL modules in DATA mode only.
Note: The 10th character in the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) indicates the manufacturing year (e.g., 1=2001, 2=2002, A=2010, C=2012).

Knowledge Base
How to Test the "New Generation Passlock" Wire
The Passlock wire's voltage varies with ignition position. Expected readings:
- Key Sense: ±12 VDC
- Accessory: ±0 VDC
- Ignition ON: ±4.0 VDC
- Start: ±3 VDC
When learning the module, ensure it reads 20 identical voltage values for each key position. Allow sufficient time for accurate sampling.
Warning
Vehicles with new generation Passlock systems typically lack a (+) Start wire. The vehicle uses the Passlock wire and Accessory Power Drop to determine crank timing. Do not connect the remote starter's (+) start wire to the vehicle.
Advanced Diagnostic
The module can display configuration information (Install Type, PK3 Detected, Passlock values, Keyless configuration, VIN Year Matching, Auto Relock) in the vehicle's info center. This information is broadcast at the end of the learn sequence or can be recalled by turning the key to ON and holding the programming button for 2 seconds.
"New Generation" Passlock/PK3+ Tamper Mode
This system has an anti-theft countdown. If an incorrect Passlock value is detected, the vehicle may enter Tamper Mode. The vehicle's BCM determines if it's regular, "bad" Passlock tamper, or PK3 tamper mode.
Passlock Tamper Mode Symptoms
Vehicle starts, ECM shuts off fuel injectors, and security indicator blinks. To exit:
- Repair the cause of the failure.
- Ensure the battery is fully charged. Apply e-brake to turn off DTRL on Canadian vehicles.
- Turn ignition ON, move key to START, then back to ON before the car starts.
- Leave ignition ON; security indicator will blink.
- After 10 minutes, indicator stops blinking, turns solid, then OFF.
- Turn ignition OFF, wait 15 seconds, attempt to start.
- If it starts, wait for the security indicator to turn OFF before shutting down the engine.
- If it fails to start, keep ignition ON. You may be in "BAD" Tamper mode and need to repeat the sequence up to 3 times (over 30 minutes).
PK3 Tamper Mode Symptoms
Vehicle does not start; info center shows PK3+ failure. To exit:
- Repair the cause of the failure.
- Close all vehicle doors.
- Wait at least 3 minutes.
- Start the vehicle with a valid key.
- If it fails, unplug the battery for 30 seconds, reconnect, and try starting again.

Cartridge Installation and Module Programming
Cartridge Installation
- Slide the cartridge into the unit. Note the button located under the LED.
- The module is now ready for the programming procedure.
Module Programming Procedure
- Close the driver door.
- Re-open the driver door to wake up the data bus.
- Insert the key into the ignition and wait 3 seconds.
- Turn the key to the Accessory position and wait 3 seconds.
- Turn the key to the ON position and wait 3 seconds.
- Turn the key to the START position and hold for 3 seconds.
- Release the key from the START position and return it to the ON position. The LED will turn solid BLUE for 2 seconds.
- Turn the key to the OFF position. The module programming procedure is complete.
Vehicle Identification and Diagnostics
Identify Vehicle Year
Locate the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and identify its 10th character. Match this character to the corresponding year using the provided chart (e.g., 'Y' for 2000, '1' for 2001, 'C' for 2012).
Module Diagnostics
The following table describes LED status during programming, remote start, and ignition off, along with corresponding diagnostic information:
LED STATUS | DIAGNOSTICS DURING PROGRAMMING | DIAGNOSTICS DURING REMOTE START | WITH IGNITION OFF |
---|---|---|---|
Flashing RED | Missing/wrong information from firmware or vehicle | Incorrectly programmed | Incorrectly programmed or connected |
Solid RED | Waiting for more vehicle information | Incorrectly programmed | Not programmed waiting for more vehicle information |
Flashing BLUE | Additional steps required to complete programming | Correctly programmed and operational | False ground when running status from remote starter |
Solid BLUE then OFF | Correctly programmed | Reset in progress | Reset in progress |
OFF | No activity or already programmed | Invalid ground when running status from remote starter | At rest and ready for a remote start sequence |
Factory Reset Procedure
- Disconnect the cartridge from the remote starter.
- Press and hold the programming button while reconnecting the cartridge.
- The LED will flash red. Immediately release the programming button.
- The LED will turn solid red for 2 seconds. Reset is completed.
- Reconnect all connectors and repeat the programming procedure.
