Step 01: Layout & Install Prep
The Rear Storage Box is designed to be compatible with FVC Rear Door Platforms, but can be modified for installation with other rear door accessory systems. The box comes pre-assembled from the factory and is ready to bolt on. Locate the hardware pack and familiarize yourself with its contents.
1.1 Dry Fit: Position the box against your mounting surface and determine the desired height of installation. For precise measurements, refer to FIG 2 for distances between mounting points.
1.2 Modification for Other Systems: If you are using a product other than the FVC Rear Door Platform, mark the back of the box to align with your available mounting points. Drill out four (4) 3/8” holes accordingly. Use the provided hardware to plug the factory holes.
Pro-Tip: A table or stand of an appropriate height can be very helpful during this installation.
Pro-Tip: Masking tape can also be used to mark the desired installation height.
Note: Modifying your Rear Storage Box for mounting to products other than FVC Rear Door Platforms is done at your own risk. If you do not feel comfortable installing this on your own, please visit the Flatline Van Co "Find a Builder or Upfitter" page to locate an approved installer near you.

Step 02: Box to Platform Install
2.1 Access Upper Holes: Open the top door of the box to access the upper mounting holes.
2.2 Install Upper Hardware: Insert one (1) 3/8-16 x 1.25” Flanged Hex Head Screw and one (1) 3/8" Sealing Washer into the upper mounting holes.
2.3 Lift and Align: With assistance, lift the box and align the top holes with the desired height of the horizontal 3/8" sized slots on the Rear Door Platform.
2.4 Secure Loosely (Top): Reach around the platform, attach one (1) 3/8" Flat Washer to the bolt, and loosely thread on one (1) 3/8" Nylon Lock Nut to hold the box in place.
2.5 Open Lower Door: Open the lower door and release it by pulling out the Downstay Rod from the rail, as shown in FIG 4.
2.6 Install Lower Hardware: Insert one (1) 3/8-16 x 1.25” Flanged Hex Head Screw and one (1) 3/8" Sealing Washer into the lower mounting holes.
2.7 Secure Loosely (Bottom): Reach around the platform, attach one (1) 3/8" Flat Washer to the bolt, and loosely thread on one (1) 3/8" Nylon Lock Nut to hold the box in place.
2.8 Tighten Hardware: Verify the box's positioning and tighten all hardware down to 20 ft-lbs.
2.9 Install Drain Plugs: Affix the Sealing Plugs to the drain holes in the bottom of the box tray.
Note: The weight limit for items placed on the lower door is 25 lbs when the door is in the open position.

Step 03: Door Adjustments [As Needed]
Upper Door Height
3.1 Adjust Height: The upper door height can be adjusted by moving the strut from its factory location to the secondary location, as shown in FIG 7. The M8 Nut holding the strut in place can be removed using a 13MM Wrench.
Note: This adjustment can help improve door clearance when utilizing the space above your Rear Storage Box for mounting items like bikes or gas canisters.
Compression Latches
3.2 Adjust Latch Compression: Using a 10MM Wrench, loosen the Jam Nut (FIG 8) to adjust the Compression Bolt. Retighten the nut once the adjustment is complete.
- Screw the bolt out to increase seal compression.
- Screw the bolt in to decrease seal compression.
3.3 Test Function: With both doors closed, test the compression and latch function. When adjusted properly, you should feel the latch compress lightly against the seal for a secure hold. Verify that the locking mechanism is working properly and that the release button operates smoothly.

- FIG 7: Illustrates the adjustment of the upper door height by moving the strut.
- FIG 8: A close-up of the compression latch mechanism, showing the Jam Nut and Compression Bolt.

Button Latch
3.4 Adjust Button Latch: Using two 10MM Wrenches, loosen the Ball Stud and adjust as needed. Tighten the Jam Nuts and verify the adjustment by closing the door. The door should click into place easily, release smoothly, and achieve proper seal compression.
- Moving the Ball Stud inward will increase seal compression.
- Moving the Ball Stud outward will decrease seal compression.
- Verify that the seal is compressed by at least 50% in the area near the Ball Stud.
Note: Do not force the latch closed. If compression is too tight, damage to the latch could occur.
Door Hinges
3.5 Adjust Hinge Torque: The adjustable torque hinges can be adjusted using a 5MM Allen Wrench. Tighten the Hinge Pivot Bolt to increase torque; loosen it to decrease torque.
Note: Flatline Van Co recommends increasing the torque on the lower door hinge. This adjustment helps minimize the door from slamming during opening if accidentally dropped. Tighten hinges equally and test opening to achieve the desired feel.
Note: It is also recommended to verify that the top door hinges are only lightly tightened to ensure smooth operation.

Step 04: Shelf Adjustment [Optional]
4.1 Remove Factory Hardware: Use a 3/8" Socket to remove the factory-mounted shelf hardware.
4.2 Adjust Height: Adjust the shelf to the desired height. The shelf is adjustable in 1" increments.
4.3 Position Shelf: Set the shelf in place using the middle holding slots and two 1/4-20 Hex Bolts.
4.4 Tighten Topmost Bolt: Tighten the shelf using the topmost hole and a 1/4-20 Hex Bolt.
4.5 Replace Bottom Hardware: Replace the hardware for the bottom-most mounting points with hardware from the middle holding slots and tighten down.
