Getting Started: Registration and Connection
Create an account when downloading the application or connect if you already have one. There are two ways of creating an account:
Traditional Method
Fill in a form requesting the following information:
- Name
- First name
- E-mail (for password recovery)
- Password
- Telephone number (for communication with colleagues via SMS)
- Option to receive XP Metal Detectors newsletters
- Mandatory acceptance of General Terms and Conditions of Use
Apple Method
Control using Apple ID by password, fingerprint, or Face ID, depending on the iOS version. You can connect once the account has been created.
Application Permissions (Pop-ups)
When launching the app, several pop-ups will appear to authorize:
- Mandatory GPS position (for geolocation of finds and route creation).
- Bluetooth activation (for connection to DEUS II/DEUS/ORX).
- Authorization for microphone and camera (for adding photos, videos, and audio recordings for finds).
Home Page Overview
The home page provides access to various features:
- Map Display: Shows your current location and the surrounding terrain.
- Targets: View your detected targets.
- Routes: Access your saved routes.
- Pre-settings: Configure application settings.
- Menu: Access main application features.
- Precision GPS: Indicates GPS accuracy.
- XP Detector Connection: Shows the connection status with your XP detector.
- Recentering Button: Resets the map view to your current location.
- Solo or Group Mode: Choose your activity mode.
- Activity Settings: Configure path line, detection zone, and history.
- Map Choice: Select your preferred map view (e.g., Google Maps, OpenStreetMap).
- Activity Launch: Start a new detecting session.
Current Activity (Solo Mode)
In solo mode, you can track your activity in real time.
- Map Interaction: Click on the map to enter or exit full-screen mode. In full-screen mode, click on your position to add a find.
- Target Meter: Click to view a list of your finds.
- Map Mix: Adjust map display settings.
- Time Meter: Displays the duration of your current activity.
- Distance Covered: Shows the distance traveled.
- Scale: Indicates the map scale.
- Activity/Pause: Control the activity status (Active: adding targets; Paused: change settings).
Base Map Options:
- Google: Normal, Satellite, Ground (Android).
- MapKit: Normal, Satellite, Hybrid (iOS).
- OpenStreetMap (Android - iOS).
Status Indicators:
- Red Line: XP detector disconnected.
- Green Line: XP detector connected (Save mode).
- Red Line: Activity paused.
Start/Stop Activity: Use the dedicated button to begin or end your session.
General Menu
The General Menu provides access to the following features:
- Map: Return to the home page.
- My Activities: View a list of your past activities.
- My Finds: Access a list of your detected targets.
- My Contacts: Manage your friends list within GO TERRAIN.
- Notifications: Manage alerts for contact requests or group activities.
- About GO TERRAIN: Access the XP site, tutorials, and General Terms and Conditions.
- Manuals: Access GO TERRAIN, DEUS II, DEUS, ORX manuals.
- Pack Choice: Select your preferred GO TERRAIN pack for additional features.
- Application Version: View the current app version.
Connecting Your XP Detector
GO TERRAIN offers automatic target saving when connected to your XP detector.
- Activate Bluetooth on your smartphone.
- Launch GO TERRAIN and click the sync icon.
- Click on 'Search DEUS/ORX'.
- Ensure your XP Detector is in 'GO TERRAIN AUTO' or 'PUSH' mode (OPTION > CONFIGURATION > GO TERRAIN).
- Sweep a target in front of the detector's disc at least three times within five seconds. The app should suggest the detector's serial number for pairing.
- Click on the serial number to complete the pairing.
Target ID Transfer Methods:
- GO TERRAIN AUTO: Automatically sends detected target data to the application for saving on the map. Ideal for terrains with low interference.
- GO TERRAIN PUSH: When the target ID is displayed on the remote control, hold the central button for five seconds to send the target to the application. This allows manual control over which targets appear on the map. Ferrous items (ID 0-19) are displayed as black dots.
Settings
Customize your GO TERRAIN experience through the settings menu:
- Activate/Deactivate Bluetooth: Manage Bluetooth connection.
- Synchronise/Desynchronise XP Detector: Control detector synchronization.
- T.ID Display ON/OFF: Toggle target ID display.
- Ferrous Item Display ON/OFF: Control the visibility of ferrous items.
- GO TERRAIN AUTO Mode: Configure sweep settings for automatic saving (3 sweeps in 5 seconds). The target is sent only if all three sweeps yield an identical target ID.
- PUSH Mode: Inactive by default.
Note: You can use GO TERRAIN to display target ID, especially if you are using the WS6 MASTER helmet.
Activity Sequence: Adding and Managing Finds
Adding a Target
The target is positioned on your location. You can change its position by clicking on the map and repositioning it.
- Target's GPS Coordinates: Displayed automatically.
- Name: Change the target name; the date and time are displayed by default.
- Icons: Select personalized icons specific to your activity (e.g., coins, jewels, militaria, fossils).
- Icon Size Adjust: Reduce or enlarge the icon size based on importance.
- Details: Enter information about the find, including size, Target ID (T.ID), era, material, and a written description.
- Media: Add up to 3 photos, 2 audio recordings, and 2 one-minute videos per find. Photos added appear as thumbnails on the path line.
Save the Target on Your Route
Consult/Change/Delete Finds
- Access your targets via the meter or directly on the map.
- Click on your list or the map to display your target.
- Delete your targets or change their information.
- Update find details, including icons, size, T.ID, era, material, and description. You can also add media (photo, sound, video).
End of Activity
When ending an activity, you can:
- Stop the activity and confirm.
- Rename the activity.
- Synchronize to back up your activity to the XP Cloud (PREMIUM pack).
- Review your finds (change or delete targets).
- Save or discard the activity.
Managing Activities
Consult your activities from the menu.
- Search Your Activity: Filter activities by type, date, duration, or distance.
- Map Search: Search for finds and activities directly on the map.
- Show Activity: Consult, change, or delete finds by clicking on an activity and then on 'Display targets'.
- Repeat Activity: Replay a previous activity. Use the [color/thickness icon] to change the color and/or thickness of the activity path line when it is paused for better distinction.
Synchronising Your Activities
Upgrade to PREMIUM to synchronize your activities with the Cloud, ensuring data backup even if your phone changes or the application disconnects.
- Navigate to MENU > MY ACTIVITIES and select the activity to synchronize.
- Ensure you have good 4G/5G coverage for correct data transfer to the Cloud.
Caution: In case of disconnection, data not synchronized with the Cloud will be deleted. Only user account information is retained.
Note: The Standard Pack does not include the Cloud synchronization option.
Data synchronization with the Cloud may take some time; please be patient.
Exporting Your Activity Data
- KML: Format for managing geographical data display in mapping applications like Google Earth.
- GPX: Open XML format for importing/exporting waypoint or GPS coordinates between different GPS applications.
Managing Targets
Consult your targets from the menu.
- Consult/Change/Delete Finds: Select a target to view, modify, or delete its information.
- Gallery Tab: View all photos of your finds in one place.
- Target Information: View details such as size, Target ID, time period, material, and description.
- Delete Target: Remove a target entry.
- Change Target Information: Edit existing target details.
Group Mode
Choose to launch a solo or group activity at startup.
Group Mode/Contact Request
Two methods for requesting contact and creating a group:
- Via Menu: Navigate to MENU > MY CONTACTS > ADD A NEW CONTACT. Search for your friend and send a request by clicking the '+' icon.
- Via Home Screen: Activate group mode by clicking the group icon. Navigate to GO > ADD CONTACT, search for your friend, send a request, and add them directly to the group to send a group activity request.
You can host and manage group sessions, starting and stopping activities at any time.
Group Activity
Requirements: 3G/4G/5G network (4G and 5G recommended). All members require a Premium pack.
You can invite up to five contacts, for a total of six people per group. Finds and path lines are shared and displayed on all smartphones in the group.
Access to Group Summary: View names of participants, number of finds, and distances covered.
The server synchronizes data between users in real time. Data includes user path lines and finds (number, information, details, videos, photos).
Participants can leave the group at any time. If the host stops the activity, all group members are stopped.
Only the host can continue the group activity, create new groups, and expand the activity. Other members can view previous group activities using the settings.
Other Functions
Mark Out a Search Zone
Ensure you stay within the detection zone by accurately marking your search area. Your phone will vibrate if you leave the zone.
- Click on the settings [gear icon] tab and then click 'DRAW DETECTION ZONE' to mark your search zone on the map.
- You can then leave settings and start your activity.
Display Path Line and Target History
- Current Activity: Displays the path line created during the current activity.
- Today's Activity: Allows viewing of previous activities (e.g., morning session) during a new activity (e.g., afternoon session) to expand the database.
- Selected Activities: Choose specific activities to avoid covering the same area multiple times.
All data is encrypted and available only to the GO TERRAIN account holder.
Profile
Access and manage your user profile:
- Access Your Profile: View your profile details.
- Disconnect or Delete Account: Disconnecting deletes all unsynchronized data. Deleting the account removes the profile, activities, and targets. Subscriptions are managed through the respective app store (Google Play/App Store).
- Mobile Number: Allows contacts to reach you via SMS through the application.
- Password Change: Update your password.
- Automatic Synchronization: Data automatically synchronizes to the Cloud with the PREMIUM pack.
- Keep Up-to-Date: Receive updates with the latest features.
