ProdataKey Red 2 Two Door Controller - Quick Start Guide
1. Package Contents
- Red 2 Two Door Controller (1)
- Battery Leads (1)
- Key Lock (1)
- Jumpers (4)
- Diodes (2)
2. Mounting Controller
Mount the Red 2 enclosure securely to a wall.
Components on Controller: POWER, HEART, LINK, ETHERNET, POE OUT, ACTIVITY, POE IN, PORT1 (+ BUS -), PORT2 (+ BUS -), BATTERY, OSDP.
3. Reader Connection
A Main Reader: Mount the main reader at the door. Use a 22/5 or 22/6 wire to connect the reader to the door controller. Ensure correct polarity and voltage before powering the controller.
B Secondary Reader: Wire the second reader to the controller as shown. Ensure correct polarity and voltage before powering the controller.
C OSDP: Install jumpers to enable OSDP. Refer to the OSDP Reference Guide for more information.
D Piezo: Can be connected to an available relay and configured via software.
4. Input A / DPS Connection
A DPS (Door Position Switch): Mount the DPS on the door frame. Run a 22/2 wire from the DPS to the controller. For double doors, wire two DPS sensors in series using only two conductors back to the controller.
B AUX Input: A rule can be configured to trigger events or outputs based on this input.
5. Input B / REX Connection
A Maglock: Install a REX (Request to Exit) for free egress. Run an 18/2 wire from the Maglock to the Door Controller. Connect to the Maglock as shown.
B REX (Request to Exit): Mount the REX in the desired location. Run an 18/5 wire from the REX to the controller. Wire the REX to the controller and maglock as shown. The green labeled wire can be omitted if reporting is not needed.
C Jumper: Use designated jumpers to energize the relay output NO and NC for wet contact utilization.
6. Locking Relay
A Diode: Install the provided diode at the strike when using a strike. Place the grey stripe of the diode on the positive side and the black stripe on the negative side.
B NC: Used for maglocks or strikes in a fail-safe configuration. Connect the negative (-) of the maglock or strike to NC on the door controller.
C NO: Used for strikes in a fail-secure configuration. Connect the negative (-) of the strike to NO on the door controller.
D Jumper: Use designated jumpers to energize the relay output NO and NC for wet contact utilization.
7. Communication Connections
Ethernet: Red controllers accept RJ45 connections. The Red 2 controller is self-discoverable from Pdk io software. A static IP address can be assigned but is not required.
Optional communication add-ons include Wireless (PN: RMW) and PoE (PN: RMPOE) module kits.
8. Power Connection
A DC INPUT: Use the included 14 VDC, 2 Amp transformer for DC power input. 18/2 wire is recommended. For high voltage applications, use the HV Converter (PN: HVC).
B BATTERY: The enclosure accommodates most 12 VDC 5 Ah batteries. Connect the battery using the supplied leads, observing polarity. Up to 8 hours of battery backup is available when using a strike in fail-secure mode.
Reference Guide
Fire Input: For fire system integration with a Red 2 door controller, refer to wiring diagrams in the Partner Portal at www.prodatakey.com/resources.
Programming: After connecting the Red 2 door controller to the Cloud Node, access the configuration software as per the programming manual, available for download via the Partner Portal at www.prodatakey.com/pdkio.
Reader Compatibility: ProdataKey supports non-proprietary readers, including Wiegand input devices such as biometric readers and keypads. OSDP readers are supported by installing the included jumper. Consult the OSDP reference guide. Contact support for further details.
UL 294 Compliance: All equipment must meet appropriate UL certifications. For UL listed installations, cable runs must not exceed 30 meters (98.5 feet).

OSDP Reference Guide
What is OSDP: Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) is a Security Industry Association standard for access control communications, enhancing interoperability, security, and functionality over Wiegand. It supports AES-128 encryption.
OSDP Wire Specification: A four-conductor twisted pair with overall shield is recommended for TIA-485 compliance at maximum baud rates and distances. Note: While existing Wiegand wiring can be reused, simple stranded cable may not meet RS485 twisted pair recommendations.
OSDP Multi-Drop: Allows multiple readers on a single 4-conductor cable run, reducing wiring needs. A maximum of four readers can be supported per port.
Note: Wiegand readers will not function when OSDP jumpers are installed.
