Premier Homeline Wi-Fi Repeater WR06

This user manual provides instructions for setting up and using the Premier Homeline Wi-Fi Repeater WR06. Wi-Fi enables wireless connections between your devices and the internet. The WR06 repeater strengthens and expands your Wi-Fi signal to reach areas with weak or no coverage.

I. Introduction

Wi-Fi allows you to establish a wireless connection between your smartphone, tablet, or computer, and the internet. The strength of the Wi-Fi signal may vary; the further you are from your Wi-Fi internet router, the lower the strength of the signal will be. To ensure sufficient speed for your internet connection, or to get a bigger Wi-Fi range, you can use the Premier Homeline Wi-Fi Repeater WR06. The Wi-Fi Repeater WR06 will strengthen and expand your Wi-Fi signal into areas it can't reach on its own. Your repeater will connect wirelessly to both your internet router, and your smartphone, tablet, or computer. If your Wi-Fi network is password protected, you will have to set up your Wi-Fi Repeater WR06 according to the instructions described below. Please read this manual carefully when using the product for the first time.

III. Configuration

This section focuses on the Wi-Fi Repeater functionality. Other modes like Access Point, WISP, or Router/Client are detailed in Chapter IV.

A Wi-Fi repeater connects wirelessly to your modem/router and to your end device (laptop, smartphone, tablet, etc.).

Placement Advice: To maintain sufficient speed, it is advisable not to install the Wi-Fi Repeater at the very edge of your existing internet range. Place it closer to the router for optimal performance.

1. Setting up your repeater using your computer or smartphone

  1. Plug the Wi-Fi Repeater WR06 into a power outlet near your internet router. Wait for the Device status indicator (4) to dim.
  2. Using your computer or smartphone, go to your Wi-Fi settings.
  3. Find and connect to the repeater's network SSID: WR06-XXXX(2.4G) or WR06-XXXX(5G). The default password is 12345678.
  4. Scan the provided QR code or enter http://premier.repeater in your browser's address bar.
  5. A login screen will appear. The default username is admin and the default password is admin (both are case-sensitive).
  6. On the landing page, select 'Scan Router' to search for local Wi-Fi networks.
  7. Input your Wi-Fi router's password.
  8. A notice will appear; press 'OK'. The Wi-Fi Repeater WR06 will reboot, completing the setup.

2. Setting up your repeater using WPS

The WPS button allows for automatic connection without manual password entry, provided your connecting device also supports WPS.

  1. Plug the Wi-Fi Repeater WR06 into a power outlet and wait for the Device status indicator (4) to dim.
  2. Briefly press the WPS button (1) on your Wi-Fi Repeater. The Device status indicator will start blinking.
  3. Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your router. You may need to hold it for at least 3 seconds. Refer to your router's manual for specific instructions.
  4. Your Wi-Fi Repeater WR06 will reboot, completing the setup.

Note: If you need to connect to a different Wi-Fi network after initial setup, reset the repeater by pressing the Reset button (2) for 5 seconds.

3. Connecting a device to your repeater

On your device, search for new Wi-Fi connections and select WR06-XXXX(2.4G) or WR06-XXXX(5G). The default password is 12345678. The 5GHz connection offers faster speeds and supports Wi-Fi-AC if available on both devices.

4. Connecting a device to your repeater using WPS

You can also connect WPS-compatible devices to your repeater using the WPS button.

  1. Briefly press the WPS button (1) on your Wi-Fi Repeater. The Device status indicator (4) will blink.
  2. Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your device to connect.

IV. Other components and possibilities of the Wi-Fi Repeater

The Premier Homeline Wi-Fi Repeater WR06 offers several modes:

  • Repeater Mode: Wirelessly connects to your router and end devices.
  • Access Point (AP) Mode: Connects directly to your modem via a LAN cable, providing full Wi-Fi capacity to end devices.
  • Client/Router Mode: Uses a Wi-Fi connection to the router and a cable connection to the end device. The LAN port can connect to routers, computers, printers, IP cameras, etc.
  • WISP Mode: Useful for situations with IP address issues or when using repeaters on public hotspots (camping, hotels).

1. Access Point Configuration

  1. Plug in the WR06 and wait for the Device status indicator (4) to dim.
  2. Connect your computer/smartphone to the repeater's network (WR06-XXXX(2.4G) or WR06-XXXX(5G), default password 12345678).

  4. Log in with username admin and password admin.
  5. Select 'Access Point' on the landing page. Optionally change the password for enhanced security.
  6. Press 'Save above settings and reboot'. The repeater will restart with the new configuration.

WISP mode is typically used when there are IP address conflicts or when connecting through a limited network, like a hotspot.

  1. Plug in the WR06 and wait for the Device status indicator (4) to dim.
  2. Connect your computer/smartphone to the repeater's network (WR06-XXXX(2.4G) or WR06-XXXX(5G), default password 12345678).
  3. Access http://premier.repeater via your browser.

  6. Input your Wi-Fi router password and press 'Next'.
  7. Press 'OK' on the confirmation notice. The repeater will reboot to complete the setup.

VI. Troubleshooting

  1. Incorrect Setup / Reconfiguration: If you need to change settings, reset the Wi-Fi Repeater. Plug it in, wait for the Device status indicator (4) to dim, then press and hold the Reset button (2) for 5 seconds. The repeater will reset and restart.
  2. WPS Connection Issues: If WPS connection fails or you cannot log in, your router's WPS mode might be incompatible or deactivated. In such cases, use the manual setup method described in Chapter III, Section 1 (Setting up using a computer or smartphone).
  3. LAN Cable Connection Problems: Ensure the LAN cable is directly connected between the repeater and your PC. If the repeater was previously configured, reset it. Temporarily disable your PC's Wi-Fi. Ensure your PC is set to 'Obtain an IP address automatically' (usually the default setting). If your PC uses a static IP or proxy, temporarily switch to automatic IP assignment via Network Adapter settings. Remember to revert to your original settings after setup.
  4. No Internet Access After Setup: Verify your password. Initially, place the repeater close to the router for configuration, then move it to a more distant outlet. If issues persist, consider changing your modem's security type or updating its software.
  5. Complex Network Setups: The Wi-Fi Repeater is designed for standard internet connections with integrated modem/Wi-Fi boxes. If you use multiple separate network components (modem, router, AP), you might encounter IP NAT issues. Consider using an integrated modem/Wi-Fi box or reconfiguring your network.
  6. MAC Address Filtering: The MAC address on the repeater's label is for the cable connection. If you use MAC address filtering on your modem, disable it temporarily to connect the repeater, then follow the manual's setup steps.
