Trane IntelliCore™ Large Split Systems
State-of-the-art technology. Simple as ever to install.
Meet the next generation of Trane's Large Split Systems.
Trane has upgraded its reliable large split systems by integrating advanced technology and adding numerous new features and options. These enhanced systems are now named IntelliCore. They offer top-tier efficiency to help reduce operational costs and meet sustainability goals.
The straightforward installation and the reliability and durability expected from Trane remain unchanged.
Think of them as “utility players"
Ranging from 20 to 120 tons, IntelliCore Large Split Systems come in multiple configurations and can be paired with various air handlers, remote chiller evaporators, and other types of HVAC equipment. These highly efficient models are available with or without compressors and can be installed either on the ground or on the roof.
Due to their versatility, IntelliCore Large Split Systems are well-suited for a host of different applications, including large office buildings, school facilities, industrial plants, and warehouses.
Key Features
- 20- to 120-ton capacity
- Ground or rooftop installation
- With or without compressor
- Remote chiller capable
Symbio® 800 for connectivity and optimization
Units with compressors are shipped with a factory-mounted Symbio 800 Controller, serving as the launch point for digitally connected smart buildings. Symbio enhances system performance, protects equipment through Adaptive Control, and allows building owners and operators to easily monitor and service their system. Users can remotely schedule and control equipment at any time, from anywhere, to reduce energy waste and optimize performance.
Symbio 800 is standard on units with compressors.
Symbio's built-in communication is compatible with many different building automation systems (BAS) communication protocols, including Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, BACnet/IP, and BACnet MS/TP. This enables easy integration with virtually any BAS without gateways or special hardware.
More efficient than ever
Trane's 20- and 25-ton units now feature two-stage compressors, replacing previous fixed-speed models. This upgrade enhances efficiency and reduces operating costs. The compressor staging in 20- to 30-ton units also ensures compliance with Title 24 and meets ASHRAE® 90.1 minimum capacity requirements.
Efficiency: Up to 16.3 IEER
Safer and more earth-friendly
IntelliCore™ Large Split Systems utilize R-454B, a low-GWP refrigerant that complies with the latest EPA regulations. While mitigation will be driven by the air handler unit, IntelliCore units will respond to the leak detection system signal and disable compressors during mitigation.
Sustainable: EPA-compliant refrigerant
Almost more upgrades than we can list
IntelliCore offers numerous updates and improvements over previous large split systems. Here are a few standard and optional features:
- Adaptive Controls™: Manages HVAC system performance during everyday operations, adapting to changes and adverse factors.
- Building Automation System (BAS) communication protocols: Includes Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, BACnet/IP, and BACnet MS/TP.
- Rapid Restart™: Ensures temperature continuity for sensitive environments like hospitals or data centers by enabling rapid restart after a power failure.
- Loss of Charge Detection: Protects the compressor by shutting down the circuit when a loss of refrigerant charge is detected.
- Real-Time Pressure Monitoring: Features factory-installed pressure transducers that provide readings through Symbio 800, eliminating the need for field-installed gauges.
- Remote Chiller Evaporator: Allows chilled water generation away from the condensing section.
- Economizer Control Option: Works with the Supply Air VAV system control option to manage the outdoor air damper, maximizing economizing functionality before mechanical cooling starts.
- "No Control" System Control: Allows the air handler or other third-party controller to stage compressors while maintaining Adaptive Control oversight.
- User Security with Audit Trail: Enables tracking of system changes and identification of users who made them.
- OEM Factory Startup: Ensures an optimal start for the system.
- Expansion Modules: Provide the ability for custom programming.
