Introduction to Ics+ Ultrasonic Sensors

The new Ics+ ultrasonic sensors are presented in a compact, rectangular housing, featuring analog/switching output and IO-Link capabilities.

Basic Features

Sensor Description and Operation

The Ics+ ultrasonic sensors feature a plastic, rectangular housing with four mounting holes. These sensors are certified according to Canadian and American safety standards. Two LEDs indicate all operating statuses.

Output Options

There is a choice of three output configurations:

Operating Modes (Switching Output)

The Ics+ sensors with a switching output support three operating modes:

Teach-in Procedures

Teach-in for a Single Switching Point

  1. Place the object to be detected (1) at the desired distance.
  2. Press button T2 for approximately 3 seconds.
  3. Finally, press button T2 again for approximately 1 second.

Teach-in for a Two-Way Reflection Barrier (with fixed reflector)

  1. Press button T1 for approximately 3 seconds.
  2. Finally, press button T1 again for approximately 10 seconds.

Teach-in for a Window

  1. Place the object briefly at the window boundary near the sensor (1).
  2. Press button T1 for approximately 3 seconds.
  3. Then move the object away from the sensor to the window boundary (2).
  4. Finally, press button T1 again for approximately 1 second.

Teach-in for Analog Characteristic or Window with Two Switching Points

Opener/closer and rising/falling analog characteristics can also be set via the buttons. The analog sensors monitor the load connected to the output and automatically switch between 4–20 mA current output or 0–10 V voltage output. This ensures very simple operation.

Advanced Features and Connectivity

LinkControl

LinkControl optionally allows extensive parameterization of the Ics+ ultrasonic sensors. The sensors are connected to a PC via the optionally available LinkControl adapter LCA-2.

Synchronization

For applications where multiple Ics+ ultrasonic sensors need to be operated, the sensors can be synchronized to avoid mutual interference. For this, all sensors must be connected to each other via Pin 5. If more than 10 sensors need synchronization, this can be achieved with the optionally available SyncBox1.

IO-Link

The Ultrasonic sensors Ics+340/F/A and Ics+600/F/A feature a push-pull switching output and support IO-Link version 1.1 and the Smart Sensor Profile.
