Please read through these operating instructions so you will know how to operate your model properly. Please keep this manual in a safe place for future reference. Never use the front video display function when driving, so as to prevent violating traffic regulations or causing an accident. Please contact your nearest dealer if one of the following is experienced: Only connect the unit to a 12-volt power supply with negative grounding. Never install this unit where operating it may impair safe driving conditions. Never expose this unit, amplifier, and speakers to moisture or water to prevent electric sparks or fire. (a). Water or other objects enter the unit. (b). There is smoke. (c). Peculiar smell. Do not change the fuse on the power cord without professional guidance. Using an improper fuse may cause damage to this unit or even cause fire. To ensure safe driving, please adjust the volume to a safe and comfortable level in case of emergency situations. Safety Precautions 2 Contents 1. Never disassemble or adjust the unit without any professional guidance. For details, please consult any professional car shop / dealer for inquiry. 2. If the front panel or TFT monitor is dirty, please use a clean silicone cloth and neutral detergent to wipe off the spot. Using a rough cloth and non-neutral detergent such as alcohol for cleaning may result in scratching or decoloration to the monitor. 3. If any abnormal behavior of the unit is found, please refer to trouble shooting guide of this manual. If no relevant information is found, please press the [RESET] key behind the front panel to resume factory default. 4. If you have parked the car in hot or cold weather for a long time, please wait until the temperature in the car becomes normal before operating the unit. 5. Using the car heater in low temperature environment may result in moisture inside the unit, DO NOT use the unit in this situation. If the unit still doesn't work after a few hours, please contact the service center. 6. Do not impact the LCD monitor which could cause damage. 7. To prevent damage to the screen, avoid touching it with sharp objects. 8. To provide a clear demonstration and an alternative for easy understanding to the operation of this unit, graphic illustrations are used. However, some illustrations are different from the actual images displayed on the screen. 9. Operate the unit correctly according to this manual to prevent unnecessary problem. The guarantee won't be valid if the problem is caused by inappropriate operation. HOME Key: Press to switch between the main menu and current source. 1 2. BACK Key: 2 Press to return to previous menu. 3. POWER / MUTE knob: Press the button to turn on the unit. 3 Press to mute the volume. Rotate to adjust volume level. 4 Long press to turn on/off the unit. 4. ILLUMI Key: 5 Press to turn off the TFT display or show clock time, press again to resume. (You can change it in settings menu.) 5. VOICE Key: Press to activate voice control mode. 4 Basic Operations Power On / Off Press the [ POWER/MUTE ] knob on the unit to turn the unit ON/OFF. Ignition Logic With ignition logic activated (Default setting) the Radio can be switched on and off manually even if the vehicles ignition pin is not connected. To avoid battery discharge the radio is switched off after 1h without user operation. Playing Source Selection Press the [ HOME ] button on the front panel to display the main source menu. Touch an icon on the screen to enter the corresponding mode. BALANCE, FADER To adjust Balance and Fader, press the [Settings] icon on the main menu and then select [ Balance ]. Mute Press the [ POWER/MUTE ] knob on the front panel to mute the volume from the unit. Press again to restore the volume. Adjusting the volume or using any of the audio setup features cancels the mute function. Volume Adjustment To increase or decrease the volume level, turn the knob on the front panel. The TFT screen displays the volume level. System Settings The system settings menu is entered by touch [Settings] icon on the main menu. 5 Radio Mode Select Radio as Playing Source Touch [Radio] icon on the main source menu. enter Manual Tuning mode. During manual tuning, the frequency will be changed in steps. Preset Station The unit has 5 bands, such as FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, AM2, and each band can store 6 stations; hence the unit can store 30 stations in total. Search Stations Automatically Touch the search icon [ ] to search stations and store the 6 strongest stations in the current band automatically. Select One Radio Band Touch the [ FM/AM ] icon on the user interface to select one radio band. Tune Auto Tuning Press [ ] / [ ] icon on the user interface for more than 1 second to seek a higher / lower station. To stop searching, repeat the operation above or press other keys having radio functions. NOTE: When a station is received, searching stops and the station is played. Manual Tuning Press [ ] / [ ] icon on the user interface to Manual Store 1. Tune to a desired station. 2. Touch one of the presets (P1 to P6) to save the selected station. Recalling a Station 1. Select a band. 2. Touch an on-screen preset button to select the corresponding stored station. Local radio station seeking When the Local function is on, only radio stations with a strong local radio signal are played. To activate the Local function in the AM/FM tuner mode, touch [ ] on the screen. The Options tab is revealed. Touch [ LOC/DX ] icon and choose the Radio Local or Distance. EQ Selection Press the [ ] icon to enter the EQ setup menu. RDS Basics RDS (Radio Data System) transmits data to the radio which displays information such as station identification, song artist, and song title. RDS service availability varies with areas. Please understand if RDS service is not available in you area, the following service is not available. AF Function AF (Alternative Frequency): When the radio signal strength is poor, enabling the AF function will allow the unit to automatically search another station with the same PI (program identification) as the current station but with stronger signal strength. CT (Clock Time) Some stations broadcast the time and date within the encoded RDS signal. The clock time is automatically adjusted when `CT' is set to `ON'. NOTE: Stations broadcasting close to time zones may not broadcast the correct time in your particular area. In this case, turn CT Off and manually set the time. 6 Radio Mode TA Function Some RDS FM stations periodically provide traffic information. TP (Traffic Program Identification) Broadcasting of traffic information TA (Traffic Announcements Identification) Radio announcements on traffic conditions When traffic announcement is received, the unit will temporarily switch to the tuner mode (regardless of the current mode) and begin broadcasting the announcement at TA volume level. After the traffic announcement is over, it will return to the previous mode and volume level. When TA is turned on, SEEK, SCAN, AMS function can only be received or saved when traffic program identification (TP) code is received. PTY Function PTY is the abbreviation for Program Type which is a code defining the type of program being broadcast (e.g. News or Rock). Touch [ ], [PTY], then PTY options will display on the screen. To view more PTY options, touch the scroll bar and arrows on the screen. When one PTY option is touched (e.g. News), auto search for next available PTY by increasing tuning frequency until the PTY of the next station matches the current. If no matched PTY has been found, the unit will return to the original radio frequency. Playback Mode Basic information The car sound system can be used to play MP3 files on USB stick. In addition, you can view movies and images from USB stick on the display. NOTES: 1. If there are audio files supported on the USB device, the system will enter the audio files menu automatically. If there are no audio files, but there are video files supported on the USB device, the system will enter the video files menu automatically. If there are no audio or video files, but there are picture files supported on the USB device, the system will enter the picture files menu automatically. 2. Not all USB devices are compatible with the unit. Audio playback from USB The principles of audio playback (MP3/WMA) from data carriers are identical for all sources. Select the desired source via the main menu. The device changes to the desired source and the playback starts. Press the [ Music ] icon to enter Music mode. 7 [ ] Display the folder/file list. [ ]/[ ] Movie selection [ / ] Interrupt playback and continue playback. [ ]/[ ] Track selection [ / ] Interrupt playback and continue playback. [ ] Repeat/Random play. [ ] Display equalizer. Image playback from USB Select the [ Picture ] via the main menu. The device changes to the desired source and the playback starts. If you selected a image, the playback is started. During the playback, the playback menu is hidden. Briefly touch the screen once to display the playback menu again. Video playback from USB Select the [ Video ] via the main menu. The device changes to the desired source and the playback starts. During the movie playback, the playback menu is hidden. Briefly touch the screen once to display the playback menu again. [ ] Zoom out the picture. [ ] Zoom in the picture. [ ] /[ ] Rotate the picture. [ ] Display the folder/file list. [ ]/[ ] Picture selection [ / ] Interrupt playback and continue playback. 8 Bluetooth Mode The user can make or receive phone calls with Bluetooth enabled phones through the unit. The user can also listen to music from a Bluetooth enabled device. Pairing Bluetooth Enabled Devices To connect your Bluetooth phone to the unit, the user needs to pair the phone to the unit. Pairing needs only to be done once. The user can pair up to five phones. The user can search for Bluetooth head units by mobile phone. 1. Turn ON the Bluetooth function on the device. 2. Search for Bluetooth devices by mobile phone. 3. Select the Bluetooth device ID(shown on the screen of the unit) in the pairing list. NOTES: · The operational range between this unit and a Bluetooth device is approximately 5 meters. · Before you connect a Bluetooth device to this unit, familiarize yourself with the Bluetooth capabilities of the device. · Compatibility with all Bluetooth device is not guaranteed. · Any obstacle between this unit and a Bluetooth device can reduce the operational range. · Keep this unit away from any other electronic device that may cause interference. 2. To load the Phonebook of your mobile phone, allow phone book synchronization. If you have many contacts, this may take up to several minutes. 3. The Call History include Missed, Received and Dialed calls. Make a Call 1. S e a r c h f o r p h o n e n u m b e r f r o m t h e [Phonebook] / [Call logs], or touch the number pad directly, then touch [ ] to dial. Receiving a Call 1. If there is an incoming call, the screen will display incoming call number. 2. Touch the screen to select [ ] to listen or [ ] to refuse. 9 Bluetooth Mode 3. During talking, you can press the keys on the screen to: Keypad: Open the keypad menu. Private: Transfer the call to your phone speaker. Mute: Cut the volume. End Call: Hang up the phone. Bluetooth Music Function Bluetooth provides an Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) profile for streaming music from a mobile phone, sometimes referred to as a MP3 player. The unit allows you to play back audio files from your mobile phoneusing a Bluetooth connection. Press the [Music] button on the main menu and select [BT Audio]. Bluetooth audio players (or Bluetooth adapters) compatible with these profiles can be connected to this unit. While listening to music from any source, the user can make a phone call by pressing the number keys on the mobile phone. The unit will stop playing music, after the call received, the voice will be transferred to the unit. When the call ends, the screen will display music playing menu. If there is an incoming phone call, the music will stop, when the call ends, the screen will display music playing menu. NOTE: Please quit A2DP mode before attempting to make a phone call, as unexpected results may occur depending on your mobile phone model. Adjust Bluetooth Settings In the options menu for Bluetooth, you can make the basic settings for the Bluetooth mode. Touch the [ Settings ] icon on Bluetooth menu. The options menu is displayed. AVRCP is short for Audio/Video Remote Control Profile. Mobile phones supporting this function can control the playback of a Bluetooth audio player. The unit can control a Bluetooth audio player via Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) or Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP). 10 Troubleshooting What appears to be a problem is not always serious. Please check the following points before calling a service center. Problem Unit does not power on No/low audio output Poor sound quality or distortion Unit resets itself when engine is off Flashing image or interference appears on screen Cause Unit fuse blown. Car battery fuse blown. Improper audio output connection. Volume set too low. Speakers damaged. Heavily biased volume balance. General Corrective action Install new fuse with correct rating. Install new fuse with correct rating. Check wiring and correct. Increase volume level. Replace speakers. Adjust the channel balance to center position. Speaker wiring is in contact with metal part of car. Insulate all speaker wiring connections. Speaker power rating does not match unit. Wrong connections. Speaker is shorted. Replace speakers. Check wiring and correct. Check wiring and correct. Incorrect connection between ACC and BATT. Check wiring and correct. Video cable damaged. Improper video signal connections.
