TRUEFOCUS Blood Glucose Monitoring System

Quick Reference Guide

Before You Test

  • Contact your Doctor or Healthcare Professional to determine how often you should test and what your target ranges are for blood glucose results.
  • ALWAYS read the Owner's Booklet before testing for the first time and before using this Quick Reference Guide.

Meter and Test Strip

Front View: The meter has a display screen, a test port, a sample end (tip) for blood application, and a contact end (blocks).

Back View: The back of the meter features a battery compartment and a meter label.

Test Strips: Test strips are supplied in a vial. Remove one strip and immediately close the vial cap tightly. Additional storage conditions apply.

Blood Glucose Testing Steps

  1. Step 1: Preparation

Wash your hands with warm, soapy water. Dry thoroughly. Do not use alcohol.

Visual Description: Image depicts washing hands with soap and water.

  2. Step 2: Gather Materials

Gather your materials and prepare your lancing device. Remove test strip from vial and close vial immediately.

Visual Description: Image shows the meter, test strips in a vial, and a lancing device.

WARNING! Upon opening the test strip carton, examine the product for missing, damaged or broken parts. Ensure the test strip vial cap is securely closed. If the product is damaged or the vial cap is not closed, DO NOT use the test strips for testing; product may give inaccurate results. Contact Trividia Health Customer Care at 1-800-803-6025 for replacement and assistance.

  3. Step 3: Insert Test Strip

With the meter off, insert the Test Strip (Contacts facing up) into the Test Port. The meter will turn on.

Visual Description: Image shows a test strip being inserted into the meter's test port with the contact end facing upwards.

  4. Step 4: Obtain Blood Sample

Lance fingertip. Allow a blood drop to form. Refer to the lancing device Instructions for Use for detailed instructions.

Visual Description: Image shows a finger being lanced by a lancing device, and a blood drop forming on the fingertip.

WARNING! NEVER reuse Test Strips. NEVER wipe Test Strips with water, alcohol or any cleaner. DO NOT attempt to remove blood or control sample from Test Strips or clean Test Strips and re-use. Reuse of Test Strips can cause inaccurate results. NEVER add a second drop of sample to the Strip. Adding more sample gives an error message.

  5. Step 5: Apply Blood to Strip

Wait until the Drop Symbol appears in the Display. With the strip still in the meter, touch the Tip of the strip to the blood drop. Allow blood to be drawn into the strip. Remove the test strip from the blood drop immediately after the meter beeps and starts to count down on the Meter Display.

Visual Description: Image shows the sample end (tip) of the test strip touching a blood drop on a finger.

CAUTION! Holding the Test Strip sample tip to the blood sample too long after the Meter begins testing may cause inaccurate results.

NOTE: Discard Test Strip if Meter did not begin testing within 5 seconds after placing Tip of Test Strip against blood drop. Repeat test with new Strip and new blood sample. If problem persists, see Troubleshooting in the Owner's Booklet.

  6. Step 6: Read Result

After the countdown, the glucose result is displayed with the date/time. Remove Test Strip and discard. The Meter turns off. The test result is stored in the Meter's Memory.

Visual Description: Image shows the meter displaying a blood glucose reading of "102 mg/dL".

After You Test

  • ALWAYS store the test strips in the original vial with the cap tightly closed.
  • ALWAYS keep the cap of the test strip vial tightly closed.
  • NEVER transfer test strips from one vial to another. Do not expose to heat, moisture, or humidity.
  • NEVER compare your meter to other meters.
  • NEVER immerse meter or test strips in liquids or place any liquids onto meter or into the Test Port.
  • Store TRUEfocus™ System in a dry place at room temperature (36°F-86°F). DO NOT REFRIGERATE OR FREEZE.
  • Dispose of used test strips and lancets in accordance with local regulations.

Additional Information

  • ALL parts of your blood glucose monitoring system could carry blood-borne pathogens after use, even after cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting the lancing device and the meter destroys most, but not necessarily all, blood-borne pathogens.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before and after handling the meter, lancing device, lancets, or test strips as contact with blood presents an infection risk.
  • If the meter is being operated by a second person who provides testing assistance, the meter and lancing device should be disinfected prior to use by the second person.
  • It is important to keep the meter and the lancing device clean and disinfected. For instructions on how to clean and disinfect the meter and lancing device, see Meter Cleaning and Disinfecting and Lancing Device Cleaning and Disinfecting in the Owner's Booklet.
