Safety Warnings
Improper use or failure to follow instructions can result in explosive failure causing serious eye or other injury. For safe use of this product, you must read and follow all instructions. Do not leave a pressurized sprayer in the hot sun. Heat can cause pressure build-up resulting in possible explosion. Do not store or leave solution in tank after use. Always wear goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt, long pants, and full foot protection when spraying. Never use any tool to remove pump if there is pressure in sprayer. Never stand with face or body over top of tank when pumping or loosening pump to prevent ejecting pump assembly and/or solution from striking and injuring you. Never pressurize sprayer by any means other than the original pump. Do not attempt to modify this sprayer. Replace parts only with manufacturer's original parts. Never spray flammable, caustic, acidic, chlorine, bleach, or other corrosive solutions or heat, pressure, or gas-producing chemicals. Instructions
1. Hose to Tank
Diagram shows hose barb (1A) and hose clamp. Ensure the hose is pushed all the way to the tank. Make sure the hose clamp is tight and positioned below the hose barb. Tighten clockwise with a screwdriver.
2. Nozzle
Diagrams show attaching the nozzle (2A, 2B) to the shut-off handle or extension wand, or (2C) to the extension wand. Attach the nozzle to the shut-off handle or extension wand.
3. Pre-Use Check
- Check tightness of hose nut to ensure the hose is securely attached to the tank outlet.
- Inspect hose for deterioration, cracks, softness, or brittleness. Replace hose with original manufacturer's parts if any conditions are found.
- Remove pump, inspect interior and exterior of tank for signs of deterioration. Discard tank immediately if signs of weakening are found, as this could lead to explosive bursting. Do not attempt to patch leaks.
- Follow filling, pressurizing, and spraying instructions, using only water. Pump plunger 10-20 strokes and inspect for leaks.
- Direct shut-off away from you and open to ensure discharge is not clogged.
- If the unit passes this test, release pressure, empty the tank, and proceed with filling, pressurizing, and spraying instructions.
- Inspect all metal parts (wand, nozzle, fittings) for rust, corrosion, and pitting. Replace affected parts with original manufacturer's parts if found.
4. Filling
- Turn pump handle counterclockwise and remove the pump.
- Prepare spray solution following all directions and safety warnings on the chemical label.
- Fill tank to no more than the proper gallon marker. Do NOT overfill to accommodate the pump.
- Check pump for grass or dirt stuck to the barrel. Replace pump in tank and tighten securely.
5. Pressurizing and Spraying
Diagrams show: (5A) Turning handle clockwise to tighten; (5B) Pumping until resistance is felt; (5C) Pushing handle down, turning 1/4 turn clockwise to lock and begin spraying. Re-pump as needed.
- Turn pump handle clockwise to tighten.
- Pump until you feel resistance.
- Push handle down, turn 1/4 turn clockwise to lock. Begin spraying. Re-pump sprayer as required to maintain spray force.
6. Fatigue-Free Spraying
Diagram shows pushing down on the shut-off handle and moving the locking mechanism away for constant spraying. To release, squeeze handle and move locking mechanism back.
- For constant spraying, push down on the shut-off handle and move the locking mechanism away from you.
- To release, squeeze the handle and move the locking mechanism back towards you.
7. To Release Pressure
- With the pump facing away, turn the locked handle counterclockwise until air begins to escape. Stop turning when air is heard escaping.
- Stay away from the sprayer until all air has escaped.
8. Care, Storage and Maintenance
- Follow chemical manufacturer's instructions for cleaning. Rinse thoroughly with recommended solvent. Follow filling, pressurizing, and spraying instructions, but pump unit only 8-10 strokes. Ensure wand and nozzle are thoroughly rinsed after each use.
- Open shut-off and allow water to run through the discharge assembly.
- Release pressure (follow pressure release instructions), remove pump, and empty sprayer.
- Store sprayer tank upside down, with pump removed, in a warm, dry location.
- Periodically oil the pump by dropping 10-12 drops of light oil down the pump rod through the opening in the cover.
