Important Safety Information
⚠️ WARNING! Follow all instructions to minimize the risk of fire, electric shock, or personal injury.
Safety Precautions:
- Use only for intended purpose as described in this manual.
- Ensure proper installation and grounding before use.
- Never operate in areas with standing water. Disconnect power before entering water.
- Always grip the plug firmly to unplug; do not pull the cord.
- Immediately replace frayed or damaged power cords with manufacturer-approved cords.
- Do not use cords with cracks or abrasion damage.
- If the receptacle does not match the plug, have it changed by a qualified electrician.
- Turn the unit OFF and unplug before cleaning.
- Do not attempt to service the unit yourself.
- Do not store or use flammable materials (gasoline, vapors) near the appliance.
- Refrigerants must be handled according to federal law for disposal.
- Do not use outdoors. Intended for indoor residential use only.
- Use only equipment certified for R410A refrigerant; do not use R22 equipment.
Electrical Connections:
- Never cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord.
- Use a properly grounded 3-prong outlet.
- Do not use adapter plugs.
- Ensure the wall outlet and circuit are properly grounded by a qualified electrician.
- If a 2-prong outlet is encountered, it must be replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong outlet.
- Always plug the dehumidifier into its own individual electrical outlet matching the rating plate to prevent overloading house wiring circuits.
Use of Extension Cords:
Extension cords are strongly discouraged due to potential safety hazards. If use is necessary, it must be a UL-listed, 14-gauge, 3-wire grounding type cord with a grounding plug and outlet, rated for 15 amperes (minimum) and 125 volts.
Operating Instructions
How the Dehumidifier Operates:
Moist air is drawn over a cold coil, where moisture condenses and drains into a bucket or hose. Dry air is then discharged back into the room. The air may become slightly warmer as the unit operates.
Automatic Defrost:
If frost builds up on the evaporator coils, the compressor will turn off, and the fan will continue to run until the frost disappears. The unit will restart automatically once defrosted.
Controls:
Control Panel Description:
- 1. Power Button: Turns the dehumidifier on and off.
- 2. Filter Timer: Illuminates after 250 hours of operation to remind you to clean the filter. Press the Filter Timer pad to turn off the light after cleaning.
- 3. Humidity Set Control Pads (▲/▼): Adjust the desired humidity level from 35% to 80% RH in 5% increments, or set to 'CO' for continuous operation. Press '▼' for drier air, '▲' for damper air.
- 4. Display: Shows the set humidity level during adjustment, then displays the actual room humidity level (+/- 5% accuracy).
- 5. Fan Speed Pad: Selects fan speed: High (for maximum moisture removal), Medium, or Low (for quieter operation).
- 6. Delay Off: Sets the unit to automatically turn off in 2 or 4 hours.
- Indicator Lights: Show Delay Off (2/4 hr), Fan Speed (High/Medium/Low), Clean Filter, Continuous Operation, and Bucket Full status.
Other Features:
- BUCKET FULL Light: Indicates the bucket is full or not properly seated.
- Alarm: Sounds for 10 seconds if the bucket is full or missing for over 3 minutes.
- Auto Shut Off: The unit automatically turns off when the bucket is full or improperly seated.
- Auto Defrost: Manages frost buildup on coils.
- Power Outage: The unit will restart with the last used settings after power is restored.
Choosing a Location:
- Operate continuously for 24 hours upon first use.
- Ensure adequate air circulation: allow 12-18 inches of space around the unit.
- Place on a smooth, level floor that can support the unit's weight when the bucket is full.
- Operate in areas where temperatures are above 41°F (5°C) to prevent coil frosting.
- Use in areas with excessive moisture (kitchens, laundry rooms, bathrooms). Keep away from clothes dryers.
- Use to prevent moisture damage to stored items.
- Operate in an enclosed area for best results; close doors, windows, and other openings.
- The unit has rollers for placement on smooth, flat surfaces only.
Removing Collected Water:
- Using the Bucket: Remove the bucket, empty it, and replace it securely. The unit will shut off when the bucket is removed.
- Using a Hose: Attach a garden hose (not supplied) to the unit's drain nozzle, route it to a floor drain, and open the drain cover on the unit.
- Ensure the bucket is properly seated for operation.
Water Level:
The unit automatically shuts off when the bucket is full or if the bucket is removed or not properly seated. The unit will not operate if the bucket is not correctly positioned.
Care and Cleaning
Always unplug the unit before cleaning.
Grille and Case:
- Case: Clean with water and mild detergent. Do not use bleach or abrasives.
- Front Grille: Clean with a vacuum attachment or brush.
Water Bucket:
- Clean every few weeks to prevent mold and bacteria growth. Use warm water and mild detergent, then rinse.
- Note: Do not clean the bucket in a dishwasher.
- To remove: Pull out the bucket and empty any water.
- To replace: Slide the bucket back into the unit until it is securely seated.
Air Filter:
- Check and clean the filter at least every 250 hours of operation, or more often if needed. The 'Clean Filter' light will illuminate after 250 hours.
- To remove: Grasp the filter edge and pull it down and out.
- To clean: Wash with warm, soapy water, rinse, and let it dry completely before replacing.
- Note: DO NOT rinse or put the filter in an automatic dishwasher.
- CAUTION: Do not operate the dehumidifier without the filter, as dirt and lint can clog it and reduce performance.
Troubleshooting Tips
Save time and money! Review common issues and solutions:
- Dehumidifier does not start: Check plug connection, fuse/breaker, bucket position, or power. Allow 3 minutes after power restoration for compressor to restart.
- Not drying air effectively: Ensure enough time has passed (24 hrs initially), check for restricted airflow (curtains, furniture), clean filter, adjust humidity control lower, close doors/windows, ensure room temperature is adequate (above 41°F/5°C), check if area is too large for unit capacity.
- Runs too much: Area may be too large, or doors/windows are open.
- Frost on coils: Normal if room temperature is low or unit was recently turned on. Frost usually clears within 60 minutes.
- Controls cannot be set: Check if bucket is full or properly seated.
- Fan noise: Normal operation.
- Water on floor: Check hose connection if using a hose, ensure hose is properly attached and not kinked. If using bucket, disconnect hose.
- Bucket Full light flashing/alarm: Check hose connection or ensure bucket is properly seated.
