This chapter introduces the product overview, package contents, appearance, buttons, indicator lights, and interfaces.
1.1 Product Overview
The ED-HMI2120-070C is a 7-inch industrial panel PC based on Raspberry Pi CM4. It can be configured with different RAM and eMMC specifications to suit various application scenarios and user needs.
- RAM options: 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB.
- eMMC options: 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB.
The ED-HMI2120-070C provides common interfaces such as HDMI, USB 2.0, RS232, RS485, Audio, and Ethernet. It also supports network access via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and 4G. It integrates optional features like supercapacitor backup power, RTC, Watch Dog, EEPROM, and an encryption chip, enhancing usability and reliability. It is primarily used in industrial control and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

1.3 Product Appearance

1.3.1 Front Panel
This section describes the types and definitions of the front panel interfaces.

- 7: Audio input/stereo output (3.5mm audio jack, can be used for microphone input and stereo output. Audio output switches to headphones when plugged in, otherwise to the speaker).
- 8: 2 x RS232 interfaces (6-Pin 3.5mm terminal block for connecting third-party control devices).
- 9: 2 x RS485 interfaces (6-Pin 3.5mm terminal block for connecting third-party control devices).
- 10: 1x 1000M Ethernet interface (RJ45, with LED, 10/100/1000M adaptive, for Ethernet connection).
- 11: 1x 100M Ethernet interface (RJ45, with LED, 10/100M adaptive, for Ethernet connection).
- 12: 1 x HDMI interface (Type-A connector, supports HDMI 2.0, up to 4K@60Hz resolution, for connecting displays).
- 13: 2 x USB 2.0 interfaces (Type-A connectors, each supporting up to 480Mbps transfer speed).
- 14: 1x Reset button (recessed button, press to reset the device).
- 15: 1 x Wi-Fi/BT antenna interface (optional, SMA connector, for Wi-Fi/BT antenna).
- 16: 1x 4G antenna interface (optional, SMA connector, for 4G antenna).
- 17: 1 x Micro USB interface (for eMMC flashing via PC).
- 18: 1 x Nano SIM card slot (for 4G SIM card).
- 19: 1 x Micro SD card slot (for SD card, for storing user data).
1.4 Buttons
The ED-HMI2120-070C has one RESET button, which is a recessed button marked "RESET" on the casing. Pressing the RESET button resets the device.
1.5 Indicator Lights
This section describes the status and meaning of the indicator lights on the ED-HMI2120-070C.

1.6 Interfaces
1.6.1 Card Slots
The ED-HMI2120-070C is equipped with one Micro SD card slot and one Nano SIM card slot.
1.6.1.1 Micro SD Card Slot
The Micro SD card slot is marked with "■" and supports Micro SD cards for storing user data.
1.6.1.2 SIM Card Slot (Optional)
The Nano SIM card slot is marked with "■" and is used for installing a SIM card for 4G access. The size difference between Standard SIM, Micro SIM, and Nano SIM cards is illustrated.

1.6.2 Power Input
The ED-HMI2120-070C has one power input, a 2-Pin 3.5mm terminal block marked "VIN+/GND".

1.6.3 Audio Interface
The ED-HMI2120-070C features one audio input and a 3.5mm 4-segment headphone jack, marked with "♪". It supports OMTP standard stereo headphone output and mono microphone input.
- When headphones are plugged in, the audio channel switches to headphone output.
- When headphones are not plugged in, the audio channel switches to speaker output.
1.6.4 Speaker
The ED-HMI2120-070C includes one power amplifier output with a built-in 4Ω 3W speaker, providing mono stereo output. If headphones are connected to the audio interface during audio playback, the speaker will not output sound.
1.6.5 RS232 Interface
The ED-HMI2120-070C has two RS232 interfaces, each with a 6-Pin 3.5mm terminal block. The marking for each RS232 interface is "IGND/TX/RX".

1.6.6 RS485 Interface
The ED-HMI2120-070C has two RS485 interfaces, each with a 6-Pin 3.5mm terminal block. The marking for each RS485 interface is "IGND/A/B".

RS485 Termination Resistor Configuration: The ED-HMI2120-070C has 120R termination resistors pre-installed between the A and B lines of the RS485 interfaces. Inserting a jumper cap enables this resistor. By default, the jumper cap is not connected, and the 120R termination resistor function is disabled. The location of these resistors on the PCBA is shown in the figures for J24 and J22 (highlighted in red).
Note: To view the location of the 120R termination resistors, the device casing must be opened. Refer to section 2.1.1 "Opening the Device Case" for instructions.
1.6.7 1000M Ethernet Interface
The ED-HMI2120-070C includes one adaptive 10/100/1000M Ethernet interface, marked "1000M". It uses an RJ45 connector. For Ethernet connection, it is recommended to use Cat6 or higher specification network cables.

1.6.8 100M Ethernet Interface
The ED-HMI2120-070C includes one adaptive 10/100M Ethernet interface, marked "100M". It uses an RJ45 connector. For Ethernet connection, it is recommended to use Cat6 or higher specification network cables.

1.6.9 HDMI Interface

1.6.10 USB 2.0 Interface
The ED-HMI2120-070C has two USB 2.0 interfaces, marked with "🔌", which are standard Type-A connectors. They support connecting standard USB 2.0 peripherals and provide transfer speeds up to 480Mbps.
1.6.11 Micro USB Interface
The ED-HMI2120-070C has one Micro USB interface, marked "PROGRAMMING", which supports eMMC flashing via a PC connection.
