Remote Controller Installation Procedure (For the Installer)
- Determine Installation Location: Choose a suitable location, adhering to safety precautions.
- Prepare Wiring Outlet: Select the desired wiring outlet (Top right, Right, or Bottom center) and cut away the thin area with nippers, then smooth with a file if necessary.
- Conduct Wiring:
- Wiring specifications: Sheathed vinyl cord or cable (2 cores), 0.75 ~ 1.25 mm², Max. 500m total length. Shielded wiring may be required in some countries.
- Prepare wiring for connection to the remote controller, ensuring correct sheath stripping lengths for each outlet type.
- Connect the terminals (P/P1, N/P2) of the remote controller to the terminals (P1, P2) of the indoor unit. Polarity does not matter for P1 and P2.
- Perform wiring at a distance from power lines to avoid electrical noise.
- Fix the Lower Case: Secure the lower case to the wall using the provided screws. Ensure the installation surface is flat and do not overtighten screws.
- Install the Upper Case: Align the upper case with the tabs on the lower case and attach it. Ensure there is no gap between the cases. If there is a gap, rearrange the wire harness and reinstall. Remove the protective sheet.
Note on Removing Upper Case: Insert a screwdriver into the recess of the lower case and twist to remove the upper case. Be careful not to damage the PCB.
Power-On
- Check that all indoor and outdoor unit wiring is complete and control box lids are closed.
- For Dual Remote Control: If one indoor unit is controlled by two remote controllers, set the sub-remote controller to the "SLAVE" position by changing the SS1 switch on the PCB. The factory setting is "MASTER".
- Upon turning on the power, "88" is displayed while the air conditioner checks the connection.
- If errors are detected, the relevant error code will blink. Refer to the Daikin website for error code details. After correcting the error, the basic screen is displayed.
- If the screen displays "US" (likely indicating a slave unit issue) when two controllers are used, turn off power, set the SS1 switch to SLAVE on the sub-controller, and turn power back on. If the basic screen does not appear within 2 minutes, check wiring.
- If "88" is displayed for over 2 minutes, ensure the main controller is MASTER and the sub-controller is SLAVE.
Field Settings
Field settings allow customization of various operational parameters. The procedure involves:
- Press and hold the Mode Selector button and the Temperature Setting (down) button for 4 seconds to enter field setting mode.
- Select the desired "Mode No." using the Airflow Direction Adjustment button.

CAUTION: If interior finishing work is incomplete, instruct the customer not to operate the air conditioner until it is finished to prevent pollution and potential water leakage.
Connection Diagram
Diagrams illustrate typical layouts for single unit control, group control (multiple units connected to one controller), and group control with a main and sub-controller. Also shown is a connection diagram for a controller used with DIII central control equipment.
Note: Group control is required for the rotation function. Unit numbers are automatically assigned for rotation order. Contact your local dealer to change unit numbers.
Note for DIII Central Control Equipment: When used with DIII central control, the schedule timer function may be restricted, and setback mode should not be enabled.
Basic Operation
Cool/Heat/Auto/Fan Operation
- Preparation: Turn on power to the air conditioner at least 6 hours before operation.
- Operation: Press the Mode Selector button until the desired mode (Cool, Heat, Fan, Auto) is selected. Unavailable modes will not be displayed.
- Press the ON/OFF button to start the system. The operation lamp will light up.
- Use the Temperature Setting buttons to adjust the temperature.
- Use the Fan Speed Control button to select the fan speed.
- Use the Airflow Direction Adjustment button to set the airflow direction.
- Press the ON/OFF button again to stop the operation. The operation lamp will turn off.
Notes:
- The "Changeover Under Control" icon prevents Cool/Heat mode changes.
- In Heating operation, the fan may continue to run for approximately 1 minute after stopping to remove residual heat.
- Wait at least 5 minutes after stopping operation before turning off the power to allow the drain pump to complete its cycle.
Characteristics of Cooling Operation:
- In Cooling mode with horizontal or downward airflow, the flap may adjust automatically to prevent condensation.
- If the room temperature is low during Cooling operation, frost may form, reducing cooling capacity. The system may automatically enter Defrost operation.
- Cooling may take longer to reach the set temperature when outdoor air temperature is high.
Characteristics of Heating Operation:
- Heating operation may take longer to reach the set temperature compared to cooling. Using the timer for advance operation is recommended.
- The system automatically enters Defrost operation to maintain heating capacity when frost accumulates on the outdoor unit. The indoor unit fan may stop during this period.
- Heating capacity decreases with lower outdoor temperatures. Consider using an auxiliary heating appliance if needed.
- The system warms the entire room through hot air circulation. It may take time for the room to feel warm.
- If warm air collects near the ceiling, a circulator fan may improve comfort.
Dry Operation
- Preparation: Turn on power at least 6 hours before operation. Dry mode may not be selectable depending on the unit's eligibility.
- Operation: Press the Mode Selector button until Dry mode is selected.
- Press the ON/OFF button to start operation. The air conditioner automatically controls temperature and airflow rate; manual adjustments are not available in Dry mode.
Note: Wait at least 5 minutes after stopping operation before turning off the power.
Setting the Cool/Heat Selection Eligibility (VRV only)
This feature allows a designated remote controller to manage Cool/Heat/Auto mode selection for multiple connected units. The controller with eligibility will not display the "Changeover Under Control" icon. Other controllers will display it and follow the selected mode. Vent mode can be set regardless of eligibility. If a "Cool/Heat selector" is used, it overrides remote controller eligibility.
Precautions:
- For Heat Pump Systems with multiple indoor units connected to one outdoor unit, set eligibility on one remote controller for Cool/Heat/Fan modes.
- For Heat Recovery Systems with multiple indoor units connected to one BS unit, set eligibility on one remote controller for Cool/Heat/Auto/Fan modes.
Program Timer Operation
The timer can be programmed for both stop (OFF Timer) and start (ON Timer) times. Settings are effective once and require reprogramming for daily use.
- OFF Timer: Press the Fan Speed Control button and Temperature Setting (down) button simultaneously to enter OFF timer mode. Use the Temperature Setting buttons to set the stop time (advances/reverses by 1 hour). Press the Fan Speed Control button to confirm.
- ON Timer: Press the Fan Speed Control button and Temperature Setting (up) button simultaneously to enter ON timer mode. Use the Temperature Setting buttons to set the start time. Press the Fan Speed Control button to confirm.
- To set both ON and OFF timers, repeat the procedure. The display will show the remaining time.
Note: Timer settings cannot be performed if the remote controller is set as a sub-controller (slave).
Maintenance
Cleaning of the Remote Controller
- Wipe the surface with a dry cloth.
- For stubborn dirt, use a cloth dampened with a neutral detergent solution, squeeze it tightly, wipe, and then dry.
WARNING: Do not use flammable materials, paint thinner, or organic solvents for cleaning, as this may cause cracking, electric shock, or fire.
CAUTION: Do not wash the remote controller. Stop operation and turn off the power before maintenance.
Reference Information
Malfunction (Error) Code Display
If a malfunction occurs, an error code will be displayed. Contact your local dealer and provide the error code for repair. If the air conditioner malfunctions (e.g., emits a burning odor), stop operation and turn off the power immediately.
