Using the Client Utilities/User Documentation DVD
Windows
- Insert the DVD into your computer's drive; the Software Installer should start automatically. If not, navigate to the DVD using File Explorer and run "Setup.exe".
- Accept the License Agreement and click [Next].
- Click "Open User's Manual" in the Software Installer. The menu will open in your browser. If it doesn't display, navigate to the [Manuals] folder on the DVD and open "index.html".
- Select the desired operator's manual from the menu.
macOS
- Insert the DVD into your computer's drive.
- Navigate to the [Manuals] folder on the DVD and open "index.html".
- Select the desired operator's manual from the menu.

Basic Operation: Home Screen
Recalling Functions
- Press the [HOME] button on the control panel.
- Press the desired function icon on the touch screen. The touch screen displays various function icons such as Copy, Scan, Fax, and Print.
Default Functions: Simple Copy, Simple Scan, Simple Fax (Optional), Print, e-Filing, Copy, Scan, Fax (Optional), User Functions, Language, Counter, Image Recovery.
Basic Operation: Registering Functions
- Press the Home Setting button on the touch panel.
- Enter the administrator password and press [OK].
- Press [Button Contents].
- Press the Page Position indicator to select where to add the button.
- Press an unassigned button on the touch panel grid. The grid shows available slots marked with '+'.
- Select the desired function and press [Confirm].
- Press [X] in the top right corner of the button registration menu to exit.
Customization Tips: You can register job settings, URLs, and applications. Functions can be removed, and buttons can be customized (number, size, text color/size, background).
Simple Copy
How to Make a Copy
- Press [Simple Copy].
- Place the original document on the scanner glass.
- Specify the number of copies using the [Sets] +/- buttons and select the Color Mode (e.g., Full Color, Black, Auto Color). Then, press [Start]. The touch screen displays controls for copy count and color mode.
Tips: Pressing and holding [+] or [-] adjusts the copy count in increments of 10. Press [Stop] to cancel the copying process.
- After copying is complete, press [Job Finish] to finalize the operation. The touch screen shows options like 'Job Finish' and 'Next Copy'.
Sets
Adjust the number of copies using the [+] or [-] buttons. Pressing the number display allows direct numeric input.
Color Mode
Select from Full Color (default), Black, or Auto Color. Density can also be adjusted.
Simple Copy: Advanced Settings
Paper/Zoom
Specify the copy paper size and reproduction ratio. The [Fit] or [Zoom] options adjust the ratio based on paper size.
2-Sided
Configure duplex settings for originals and copies.
Staple
If a finisher is installed, specify the stapling position.
You can also select the orientation for originals or scanned images.
Simple Scan
How to Make Scanning
- Press [Simple Scan].
- Place the original document on the scanner glass.
- Press [Address Book] and specify the recipient's email address. The touch screen displays the address book or allows direct email entry.
- Specify the Color Mode (Black, Gray Scale, Full Color, Auto Color) and other settings, then press [Start].
Note: Simple Scan sends data to email addresses, requiring prior administrator setup.
Tip: Press [Job Finish] after scanning all pages.
Preview
A preview of the scanned image is shown after pressing [Start]. The [Edit] option on the preview screen allows page reordering and rotation.
Color Mode
Choose from Black (black and white), Gray Scale (text and photos), Full Color (all color), or Auto Color (automatic color detection per page).
Simple Scan: File Format and Resolution
File Format
Select the file format for scanned data: JPEG, PDF, Secure PDF, or Slim PDF. JPEG is available for Full Color or Gray Scale modes. Secure PDF offers encryption options including User Password, Master Password, Encryption Level (AES, RC4), and Authority settings (Print, Change, Extract, Accessibility).
Resolution
Specify the scan resolution (e.g., 200dpi, 400dpi, 600dpi).
2-Sided Scan
Configure settings for scanning both sides of a document: 1-Sided, Booklet (right-to-left), or Tablet (top-to-bottom).
You can also select the direction of originals or scanned images.
Simple Fax
How to Send a Fax
- Press [Simple Fax].
- Place the original document on the scanner glass.
- Use the touch panel keypad to enter the recipient's fax number. The screen shows the numeric keypad and the entered number.
Tips: Use [Multi] for multiple recipients. [Back Space] deletes one digit; [Clear] deletes all digits.
- Press [Start] to send the fax. The control panel's [START] button can also be used.
Preview
A preview of the fax image is displayed after [Start]. The [Edit] option allows page deletion.
Resolution
Select the scan resolution: Standard (regular text), Fine (small text/fine illustrations), or Ultra Fine (ultra-fine illustrations).
Simple Fax: Original Settings
Original Mode
Select the scanning mode based on the original type: Photo, Text/Photo, or Text.
Original Size
Specify the scan size: Auto (automatic detection), Different Width (for mixed widths), or Specified size (preset size).
2-Sided Scan
Choose the scanning type: 1 Side, Booklet (right-to-left), or Tablet (top-to-bottom).
Exposure
Adjust the scan density: Auto (automatic contrast detection) or Manual (specify density).
Specifying Recipients for Fax
Specifying Recipients One by One
Press the recipient selection icon and then select the recipient from the list. The touch screen displays the recipient list.
Searching Recipients
Enter a keyword using the touch panel to search for recipients. Results matching the keyword are displayed.
Tip: Use spaces to search with multiple keywords.
Specifying Recipients in Groups
Press the group selection icon and then select the group. The touch screen displays group lists.
Tips: Press the 'Favorite' icon to view favorite recipients. The address book can be displayed in list or button style.
Confirming Recipients
- Press the destination number area. The touch screen shows the destination confirmation screen.
- Check the recipient addresses.
Tip: Use [X] to delete individual recipients or [Clear All] to remove all.
Confirming Transmission History and Sending Fax
- Press the [History] button.
- The transmission history list appears. Select a recipient and press [Start] to send a fax.
Tip: Up to 40 transmission jobs can be viewed.
Searching in the Address Book
- Press the [Address Book] icon.
- Navigate to the search screen.
- Enter the search item and press [Search].
The address book can be switched between individual, group, and favorite views. It can also be refined by the first letter.
Registering Recipient's Address
- Select a recipient from the transmission history list and press [Registration].
- Enter the recipient's information and press [OK].
Tip: A searched destination from an LDAP server can be registered.
This section covers printing from a Windows computer using the Universal Printer 2 driver, which must be installed beforehand.
How to Make Printing
- In the application's [File] menu, select [Print].
- Select the printer driver and click [Preferences] or [Properties]. A dialog box appears for printer selection and preferences.
- Set the desired print options and click [OK]. The Printing Preferences dialog allows detailed settings.
- Click [Print] or [OK] to start printing.
Tips: Refer to installation guides for installing printer drivers on Windows and macOS.
Setting Universal Printer 2 Driver
- Paper Size/Copy Sets: Configure in the [Basic] tab.
- 2-Sided Printing/N-up Printing: Configure in the [Finishing] tab. Options like "Staple" and "Hole Punch" are available if the finisher and punch unit are installed. Use "Number of pages per Sheet" to print multiple pages on one sheet, scaled to fit.
- Front Cover Printing: Configure in the [Paper Handling] tab.
- Image Quality: Adjust in the [Image Quality] tab.
- Character Strings/Graphics: Print on the background via the [Effect] tab.
- Skip Blank Pages: Configure in the [Others] tab.
- Templates: Use the [Templates] tab.
Printing Documents Using the Bypass Tray
Follow these steps to print using the bypass tray:
- Select [Print] in the application's [File] menu.
- Select the printer driver and click [Preferences] ([Properties]).
- Select the [Basic] tab.
- Set the [Original Paper Size].
- Set the [Print Paper Size]. Select [Same as Original Size] to avoid scaling.
- Select [Bypass Tray] in [Paper Source].
- Select the paper type in [Paper Type]. For non-plain paper like thick paper, specify the type here.
- Set other printing functions as needed and click [OK].
- Click [Print] ([OK]) in the application.
- Place paper face down on the bypass tray.
- Press [Job Status] on the Home screen.
- When prompted to "Select the drawer or bypass tray.", press [Bypass Feed].
- Press the [START] button on the control panel.
