Wampler Metaverse Quick Reference Guide

Introduction

The Metaverse brings a powerhouse multi-delay into Wampler's line up of advanced MIDI DSP pedals. Comprising eleven of Brian Wampler's all-time favorite delays, the Metaverse is a full-featured, small-footprint stomp box that is programmable, preset capable, true stereo, offers enhanced MIDI control, and has an expression input that you can assign to any of the parameters.

Just like the Terraform that came before it, the Metaverse features a user-friendly interface that allows you to dial in your sound without endless menus on a tiny display. Use the intuitive design to effortlessly travel throughout Wampler's expansive Metaverse.

The Metaverse offers complete control over every program via either MIDI CC Messages or PC Commands. It can accept a global clock signal from a MIDI controller. By default, the pedal is set to 'omni channel' mode, meaning it will accept a MIDI command on any channel.

Power

Requires 9V DC, 130mA.

Expression

1/4" Expression Pedal Input. Allows assignment to any parameter.

Input Jacks

Mono or Stereo.

Bypass Switch / LED

Turns the delay effect on/off.

Alternate Function: Hold down to access alternate functions on knobs (subdivisions, mod rate, output volume, TAPE mode, ETH mode, flanger feedback). The LED will turn red.

Preset Switch

Increments through presets. Hold to initiate save.

Alternate Function: Select subdivision (when bypass switch is held).

Preset LEDs

Indicates Preset number 1-8.

Alternate Function: Indicates current subdivision.

Alternate Function (TAPE program): Indicates TAPE head combination.

Alternate Function (ETH program): Indicates Ethereal mode.

Tap Tempo Switch / LED

Functions:

  • Trigger tap tempo to set delay time (LED is blue).
  • Increment Preset (LED is green).
  • Hold Tap Tempo Switch for 1 second to toggle between modes.
  • Pressing the tap tempo switch will exit Preset save mode.

Primary Controls

Delay

Sets delay time between 25ms (CCW) and 2000ms (CW).

Mod

Sets modulation depth (CCW lowest, CW highest).

Alternate Function: Sets modulation rate for all effects.

Feedback

Sets delay feedback (CCW lowest, CW highest).

Alternate Function (TAPE program): Selects head combination.

Alternate Function (ETH program): Selects Ethereal mode.

Mix

Sets dry signal and delay signal mix:

  • CCW for 0% wet
  • CW for 100% wet

Specific Mix points:

  • 0% = dry 100% + wet 0%
  • 75% = dry 100% + wet 100%
  • 100% = dry 0% + wet 100%

Alternate Function: Sets total output level for all effects.

Specific Output Level points:

  • 0% = -6dB
  • 50% = 0dB
  • 100% = +6dB

Tone

Sets delay tone.

Alternate Function: Sets modulation feedback for JET and MOD programs.

Connectivity and Power

Connection

The Metaverse can be run in either Mono or Stereo using 2-4 guitar cables. The optimum connection for this pedal is in the effects loop of a guitar amplifier. If your amplifier does not have an effects loop, it can still be connected through the main input.

Power Requirements

Connect a 9V DC Center Negative Power supply suitable for guitar pedals only. Current draw is approximately 130mA. Do not exceed 9V; this pedal cannot be run at 18V. Use of an incorrect power adapter can lead to damage and void the warranty on the pedal.
