Chapter 2: Operating the Balance Scooter
1.2. Preparation Before Operation
Before use, the battery should be fully charged. Refer to Chapter 6.
1.3. Weight Limitation of the Operator
Weight limitations are in place to ensure operator safety and reduce damage from overloading.
2.1. Calibration
If your hoverboard pulls left or right, recalibrate its sensors:
- Shut down and level the scooter.
- Press and hold the Power button for over 10 seconds until the light flashes 5 times.
- Shut down the scooter again.
NOTE: The built-in self-balance function makes it easy to drive.
2.2. Operating Principle
The hoverboard uses dynamic equilibrium with internal gyroscopes and acceleration sensors. Its status is controlled by the center of gravity, adjusted by a motor managed by a servo control system. Leaning forward accelerates, and leaning left or right initiates turns. The hoverboard maintains anterior-posterior balance but not left-right balance. Operate slowly when turning to avoid injury.
2.3. Learn How to Use It
- Press the power button to turn on the hoverboard.
- Place the hoverboard on flat ground with safety measures in place. Step onto one pad to trigger the pedal switch and operation indicator. Once the system enters self-balancing mode, step onto the other pad.
- Control forward and backward movement by shifting your body weight smoothly. Avoid abrupt movements.
- Control left and right direction by shifting your body's center of gravity.
- Before dismounting, ensure the hoverboard is balanced and stopped. Step off one foot, then the other.
NOTE: If the system is not balanced when the foot-switch is triggered, a buzzer will sound, and the warning LED will light. Do not operate until balanced. Recalibrate sensors if necessary (see 2.2).
WARNING! Never turn violently when driving fast. Never ride sideways or turn on a slope; this can lead to falls and injury.
2.4. Always React on Alarms
The hoverboard will not operate in the following situations:
- System error prompts (prohibited riding, alarm lights, buzzer).
- Platform moves more than 10 degrees forward or backward when stepped on.
- Battery voltage is too low.
- During charging.
- Platform turns upside down during operation.
- Over speeding.
- Battery is not charged enough.
- Tire stall (enters power-off mode after 2 seconds).
- Battery voltage below protection value (enters power-off mode after 15 seconds).
- Continuing large current discharge (e.g., climbing a steep slope).
WARNING! When the battery is low, the system locks down. Press the power button to unlock. Do not continue driving when the battery is depleted or safety shutdown is indicated, as the hoverboard will lose balance, risking injury. Continued driving at low battery levels negatively affects battery life. Use only between -10°C and +45°C.
2.5. Riding Practice
Before driving, familiarize yourself with operation. Always practice with someone to assist.
- Wear casual, non-loose clothing and flat shoes for flexibility.
- Practice in open spaces until comfortable with mounting and dismounting.
- Ensure the surface is level.
- Slow down on different terrain.
- Reduce speed on rough surfaces.
- Read Chapters 4 and 5 for speed and safety information before driving.
Chapter 3: Pedal Sensor and Indicator Operation
3.1. Pedal Sensor
Four sensors are located under the pedals. Stepping on a pedal activates self-balancing mode. Ensure pedals are fully stepped on; avoid stepping on areas outside the pedals. Do not place objects on pedals that could cause unintended operation, leading to crashes or injury.
3.2. Battery & Operation Indicators
Indicators are located in the center of the hoverboard for operation information.
- Battery Indicator: Green indicates sufficient power. Red indicates low power (15-20% remaining), requiring recharge. Flashing red with a warning alarm sound means the battery is depleted; stop driving immediately as the hoverboard will shut down and lose balance, risking injury.
- Operation Indicator: Lights up when a pedal is triggered, indicating the system is in operating condition. Turns red if the system encounters an error.
Chapter 4: Range and Speed
4.1. Range Per Charge
Range is affected by several factors:
- Topography: Even roads increase range; uneven terrain decreases it.
- Weight: Operator weight influences driving distance.
- Temperature: Extreme temperatures reduce range.
- Maintenance: Proper charging and battery condition maximize range.
- Speed and Driving Style: Steady speeds increase range; frequent starting, stopping, acceleration, and deceleration reduce it.
4.2. Max. Speed
The maximum rated speed is 14 km/h, but actual speed depends on battery charge, surface condition/angle, wind direction, and driver weight. Under optimal conditions (full charge, level surface, tailwind, light rider), speed may exceed 15 km/h.
Approaching maximum speed triggers a warning signal; reduce speed. Driving at speeds comfortable to you, not exceeding 12 km/h, is recommended. The hoverboard balances well at permissive speeds.
Chapter 5: Safe Driving
This chapter covers safety, knowledge, and warnings. Read all assembly and operation instructions before use.
