Powering
Your boombox can be powered with the included AC adapter or by inserting eight "D" size batteries (not included).
Powering with the Included AC Adapter
- Insert the DC plug adapter into the DC In jack on the back of your boombox.
- Plug the AC adapter plug into a standard 120V AC outlet.
- Press the Power button [Power Button] on the top panel to turn on the unit.
Note: Unplug when not in use for extended periods.
Powering with Batteries
- Your boombox requires 8 "D" size batteries.
- Open the battery compartment on the bottom of your boombox.
- Insert batteries with the correct polarity (+,-).
- Close the battery compartment.
Warning: Do not mix old and new batteries. Only use alkaline batteries. Do not expose batteries to excessive heat. Remove batteries if not in use for extended periods.
Connecting to a TV/External Device
Your boombox can be connected to a television to watch DVDs or to external speakers for enhanced audio.
Composite Video Output
- Plug the included RCA audio/video cable into the VIDEO OUT port on the rear of the boombox and a composite video input on a television.
- Adjust the television to the correct input setting.
- When playing CDG discs, the boombox will output written lyrics to the connected television, acting as a karaoke machine.
RCA Audio Output
- Plug the included RCA audio/video cable into the AUDIO OUT port on the rear of your boombox and an RCA audio input jack on a television or stereo system.
- Adjust the television or stereo system to the correct input setting.
- When playing a disc, the boombox will output audio to the connected television or stereo system. Use the external device to control the output sound level.
DVD Function
Using the Boombox to Play DVDs
- Press the POWER button [Power Button] to power on the unit. A power indicator will illuminate.
- If the unit is not in DVD mode, press the SOURCE button [Source Button] repeatedly until DVD mode is selected.
- In DVD mode, the unit will start to read the inserted DVD disc. If no DVD has been loaded, "NO DISC" will display with the DVD logo.
- Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" mark on the DVD Door and pull gently to open it.
- Carefully load a DVD disc with its label side upward into the DVD compartment then gently close the DVD door.
- The player will start reading the disc and playing.
- Adjust the MASTER VOLUME knob [Master Volume Knob] to obtain the desired sound.
- To temporarily stop playing, press the PLAY/PAUSE Button [Play/Pause Button]. To resume playing, press the PLAY/PAUSE Button [Play/Pause Button] again.
- Press the Fast Forward button [>> Button] repeatedly to get the playback at speeds of 2x, 4x, 8x, 20x, or normal. Press the Fast Reverse button [<< Button] repeatedly to get playback at speeds of 2x, 4x, 8x, 20x, or normal but in reverse.
- To stop playing, press the STOP button [Stop Button].
- Press the POWER button [Power Button] to turn off the unit after watching.
Important Note: DVD players are designed to read commercial DVDs and self-compiled DVD-R/DVD-RW discs. Playback of self-compiled discs may take up to 10 seconds to start and compatibility may vary. Do not attach a label or seal to either side of the DVD-R/RW disc as it may cause a malfunction.
USB Function
The unit plays AUDIO, JPEG, and VIDEO files stored on a USB flash drive.
- In DVD mode, press the DVD/USB/HDMI button [DVD/USB/HDMI Button] once to access USB mode (display shows "no USB").
- Slide open the USB Port cover on the top of the unit and insert your USB flash drive into the USB port. The unit starts to read the USB flash drive.
- After reading the USB flash drive, a menu will display to select AUDIO, JPEG, or VIDEO. Use the < and > buttons [< Button] [> Button] to select, and press the OK button [OK Button] to enter. Follow the on-screen display to operate.
- Press the MENU button [Menu Button] to return to the menu.
Notes:
- USB Function supports flash drives up to 32 GB maximum capacity.
- Due to the various sizes of USB flash drives, please always fold down the carrying handle before inserting a USB flash drive.
- When carrying this unit, ensure your USB flash drive is not taller than the space under the carrying handle to avoid damage.
HDMI Function
- Plug an external device into the HDMI port located on the back of the boombox.
- Power on your boombox, and when in DVD mode, press the DVD/USB/HDMI button [DVD/USB/HDMI Button] twice to enter HDMI mode (display shows "HDMI mode").
- Turn on and start playing the external device plugged into the HDMI port.
- Turn off both the external device and your boombox after use. Unplug the HDMI cable from the HDMI port at the back of the unit.
Use with Streaming Sticks/Adapters or Other Sources
The AIWA A17001 features HDMI In functionality for external sources like satellite receivers or streaming sticks/adapters (e.g., Chromecast™, Roku™, Amazon Fire TV Stick™). These devices allow streaming of various services and screen mirroring from your phone/tablet.
Simply plug your adapter into the rear HDMI Input and power it from its supplied power supply. Alternatively, the USB socket on the top of the AIWA A17001 supports up to 1.5A for powering such devices. Note that these devices require Wi-Fi, so your AIWA A17001 with stick attached needs to be in range of your Wi-Fi network.
Note: If using TV Sticks, please insert the TV Stick before turning on the power, then enter HDMI mode.
Bluetooth Function
The Bluetooth feature streams and plays digital music from your Bluetooth-enabled device to your boombox.
- With your boombox powered on, press the SOURCE button [Source Button] repeatedly to select Bluetooth mode (a "Bluetooth" sound is heard). The indicator light will flash.
- The unit enters auto connection mode, searching for a previously paired, active, and in-range device (30 feet/10 meters). If found, a welcome melody is heard, and the indicator light stops flashing and remains solid. If no active device is found, the unit switches to pairing mode, and the Bluetooth indicator keeps flashing.
- Go to the Bluetooth settings menu of your Bluetooth-enabled device, ensure Bluetooth is on, and select "AIWA Media Boom" from the list of available devices.
- Once connected, you should hear a melodic tone, and the indicator light will stop flashing and remain solid.
AUX IN Function
Play music from other sources (iPods, MP3 players, etc.) through the boombox speakers by connecting the AUX IN jack to your external player's audio out or headphone jack.
- Plug one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) into the AUX IN jack on the top of the boombox and the other end into the headphone jack of your digital audio player.
- Press the "SOURCE" button [Source Button] repeatedly until AUX IN mode is accessed (an "Auxiliary" sound is heard).
- Turn on and start playing the external device plugged into the AUX IN jack.
- Slowly adjust the volume controls of both your unit and the external device until a comfortable listening level is reached.
- Turn off both the external audio player and this unit after use. Unplug the audio cable from the AUX IN jack.
Notes:
- If connecting to the Line-Out Jack of your external device, adjust only the unit's volume control. If connecting to the Headphone Jack, adjust both the external device's and the unit's volume controls for the desirable listening level.
- Remember to turn off the unit and your external audio device when finished listening.
FM Radio Function
- Press the POWER button [Power Button] to power on your boombox.
- Press the "SOURCE" button [Source Button] repeatedly until FM mode is accessed (an "FM RADIO" sound is heard).
- Tune to your desired station using the TUNING knob [Tuning Knob].
- Adjust the MASTER VOLUME knob [Master Volume Knob] for the desired sound level.
Tips for Best Radio Reception
When listening to FM radio stations, fully extend the FM TELESCOPIC ANTENNA [FM Telescopic Antenna] for best performance. If FM reception is weak, try repositioning the unit near an open window.
Care and Maintenance
- Do not subject the unit to excessive force, shock, dust, or extreme temperatures.
- Do not tamper with the internal components.
- Clean your unit with a dry cloth. Solvents or detergents should never be used.
- Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid, or dusty places.
- Keep your unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise like fluorescent lamps or motors.
- If drop-outs or interruptions occur during DVD play, or if the DVD fails to play, the disc's bottom surface may require cleaning. Wipe the disc from the center outwards with a soft cleaning cloth before playing.
Cleaning the Unit
- To prevent fire or shock hazard, disconnect your unit from the AC power source when cleaning.
- The unit's finish can be cleaned with a dust cloth. Use caution when cleaning and wiping plastic parts.
- If the cabinet becomes dusty, wipe it with a soft dry dust cloth. Do not use wax or polish sprays.
- If the front panel becomes dirty or smudged with fingerprints, clean it with a soft cloth slightly dampened with a mild soap and water solution. Never use abrasive cloths or polishes as they will damage the unit's finish.
Caution: Never allow water or other liquids to get inside the unit while cleaning.

If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and your body.
Warranty
This warranty covers the original consumer purchaser only and is not transferable.
This warranty covers products that fail to function properly UNDER NORMAL USAGE, due to defects in material or workmanship. Your product will be repaired or replaced at no charge for parts or labor for a period of one year.
What Is Not Covered By Warranty
Damages or malfunctions not resulting from defects in material or workmanship, and damages or malfunctions from other than normal use, including but not limited to, repair by unauthorized parties, tampering, modification, or accident.

To receive warranty service and the name/address of an authorized service center, the original consumer purchaser must contact AIWA for problem determination and service procedures. Proof of purchase (bill of sale or receipted invoice) within the applicable warranty period MUST be presented. It is your responsibility to properly package and send any defective products along with a dated copy of proof of purchase, a written explanation of the problem, and a valid return address to the authorized service center at your expense. Do not include any other items or accessories. Products received by the authorized service center not covered by warranty will be returned unrepaired.
