Abstract Summary

This study investigates shallow-buried near-field anti-vehicular mine explosions, crucial for developing vehicle and occupant protection systems. It addresses the complexities of near-field blast loading and the challenges of detecting and defeating improvised explosive devices.

To reduce costly and complex experiments, the research employs numerical simulations using Altair's RADIOSS code. The methodology includes validating explosive models, identifying and validating soil material models, and performing fluid-structure interaction (FSI) simulations. The goal is to correlate numerical results with experimental data to establish reliable simulation practices for various scenarios.
