Manual Operation and Maintenance

Manual Operation

Use the POWER button only when the remote control is lost or damaged.

Inserting the Batteries

  1. Remove the battery cover.
  2. Insert 2 AAA batteries, noting polarity.
  3. Reinstall the battery cover.

Note:

Optimizing Performance

  1. Close doors and windows during operation.
  2. Do not block air inlets or outlets.
  3. Wipe the cabinet with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn stains, use a neutral detergent diluted with water. Wring out the cloth before wiping, then wipe off detergent residue.

Cleaning the Front Cover

  1. Open the front cover by pulling it upward.
  2. Remove the filter: Gently push up on the center tab until it releases, then pull the filter down.
  3. Clean the filter: Use a vacuum cleaner or wash with water. Dry completely after washing.
  4. Attach the filter: Ensure the "FRONT" label faces outward. Secure it behind the holding tabs. Incorrect attachment may reduce efficiency.
  5. Close the front cover.

Troubleshooting Tips

For additional troubleshooting tips, consult the full owner's manual at GEAppliances.com.

Problem Cause and Solution
Normal Performance Inspection The system does not restart immediately: When the unit is stopped, it will not restart for 3 minutes to protect the system. When electricity is disconnected and reconnected, the protection circuit is active for 3 minutes.
Noise is heard: During operation or sudden stop, swishing or gurgling may occur, especially in the first 2-3 minutes. This is refrigerant flow. Cracking noises may occur due to casing expansion/contraction. A loud airflow noise might indicate a dirty air filter.
Odors: The system circulates ambient odors (e.g., furniture, paint, cigarettes).
Mist or steam is blowing out: In COOL or DRY mode, this is due to sudden cooling of indoor air.
In DRY mode, fan speed cannot be changed: In DRY mode, if room temperature is 2°F below the set temperature, the unit runs intermittently at LOW speed regardless of FAN setting.
Items to look for Nonresponsive unit: Check for power failure, tripped circuit breaker, or blown fuse.
Poor Cooling: Check if the air filter is dirty, if the inlet/outlet is blocked, if the temperature is set correctly, if doors/windows are open, if there's direct sunlight, or too many heat sources/people in the room.
