Remote Control Features and Settings
The remote control allows you to operate the Haier High Wall Duct-Free System. Below are descriptions of the buttons and their functions.
Remote Control Layout
The remote control features numerous buttons for various functions. The main buttons are numbered for reference:
- 1. POWER [Power Icon]: Press to start or stop the unit.
- 2. HEAT Button: Activates heating mode. In HEAT mode, warm air is blown after a short delay to prevent cold air. If FAN is set to AUTO, the fan speed adjusts automatically based on room temperature. The [Heat Mode Icon] will be displayed.
- 3. COOL Button: Activates cooling mode. In COOL mode, cool air is blown. If FAN is set to AUTO, the fan speed adjusts automatically based on room temperature. The [Cool Mode Icon] will be displayed.
- 4. DRY Button: Used for dehumidification. In DRY mode, if the room temperature drops 2°F below the set temperature, the unit operates intermittently at LOW speed, regardless of FAN setting. A crossed-out water droplet icon [Water Droplet Icon with Cross] is displayed.
- 5. SPEED Button: Cycles through fan speeds: LOW, MID, HI, AUTO. The fan icon [Fan Icon] is displayed. Holding the SPEED button for 10 seconds enters FAN mode. Pressing any other button exits this function.
- 6. TURBO Button: Speeds up airflow to the highest setting in heating and cooling modes. The "TURBO" icon is displayed. Pressing TURBO again or the SPEED button exits this function.
- 7. QUIET Button: Sets the fan to the lowest speed. The "QUIET" icon is displayed. Pressing QUIET again or the SPEED button exits this function.
- 8. TEMP +/- Buttons:
- TEMP +: Increases the set temperature by 1°F (0.5°C).
- TEMP -: Decreases the set temperature by 1°F (0.5°C).
- 9. MOTION SENSOR Button: Activates Motion Sense mode, displaying "Eco". If no motion is detected for 20 minutes, the unit enters Eco mode, adjusting temperature by 1°F (0.5°C) every 10 minutes (decreasing in heat mode until 68°F/20°C, increasing in cool mode until 78°F/26°C). Total adjustment is capped at 4°F (2°C). Motion detection exits Eco mode immediately. This function may not adjust temperature further if the set point is already at the limit.
- 10. SWING UP/DOWN Button: Controls the horizontal airflow louvers.
- Airflow Status Display (COOL/DRY): Shows various upward and downward louver positions.
- Airflow Status Display (HEAT): Shows various upward and downward louver positions.
Note: Avoid keeping the horizontal louver in the downward position for extended periods in COOL or DRY mode to prevent condensate formation. The unit returns to the previous setting upon power-on and fully opens before closing upon power-off.
- 11. SWING SIDE/SIDE Button (select models): Controls the vertical airflow louvers.
- Airflow Status Display (COOL/DRY/HEAT/FAN): Shows various left and right louver positions.
Note: High humidity may cause condensation if vertical louvers are angled too far left or right. The unit returns to the previous setting upon power-on.
- 12. DISPLAY Button: Toggles the indoor display on/off. Pressing 10 times within 5 seconds displays ambient temperature (2 beeps). Pressing again 10 times within 5 seconds displays set temperature (4 beeps). Default display is set temperature.
- 13. SLEEP Button: Activates the sleep function. The display light turns off after 20 seconds.
- COOL or DRY modes: Temperature increases 1°F (0.5°C) after 1 hour, another 1°F (0.5°C) after 2 hours, and decreases 1°F (0.5°C) after 7 hours. Returns to original setpoint at the 8th hour. This optimizes comfort and efficiency during sleep.
- HEAT Mode: Temperature decreases 2°F after 1 hour, another 2°F after 2 hours, increases 1°F after 5 hours, and returns to original setpoint after 8 hours.
- AUTO Mode: The unit operates in a corresponding sleep mode adapted to the automatically selected operation mode.
Note: In Sleep mode, fan speed is set to low and cannot be changed. If TIMER is set, Sleep cannot be set, and vice versa.

Troubleshooting Tips
For additional troubleshooting tips, consult the full owner's manual at GEAppliances.com.
Problem | Cause and Solution |
---|---|
Normal Performance Inspection | The system does not restart immediately: When the unit is stopped, it will not restart for 3 minutes to protect the system. When electricity is disconnected and reconnected, the protection circuit is active for 3 minutes. |
Noise is heard: During operation or sudden stop, swishing or gurgling may occur, especially in the first 2-3 minutes. This is refrigerant flow. Cracking noises may occur due to casing expansion/contraction. A loud airflow noise might indicate a dirty air filter. | |
Odors: The system circulates ambient odors (e.g., furniture, paint, cigarettes). | |
Mist or steam is blowing out: In COOL or DRY mode, this is due to sudden cooling of indoor air. | |
In DRY mode, fan speed cannot be changed: In DRY mode, if room temperature is 2°F below the set temperature, the unit runs intermittently at LOW speed regardless of FAN setting. | |
Items to look for | Nonresponsive unit: Check for power failure, tripped circuit breaker, or blown fuse. |
Poor Cooling: Check if the air filter is dirty, if the inlet/outlet is blocked, if the temperature is set correctly, if doors/windows are open, if there's direct sunlight, or too many heat sources/people in the room. |
