This document provides detailed fitting instructions for Barkbusters handguards designed specifically for the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE model, manufactured from 2023 onwards. It outlines the preparation steps, assembly procedure, and critical torque settings required for a secure and safe installation.
Preparation
Before beginning the installation, remove any existing original handguards and bar end weights from the motorcycle's handlebars.
Fitting Procedure
The installation involves assembling the aluminium bar, clamp connector, and clamp saddles. Key steps include:
- Loosely assembling bar end parts and the clamp to the handlebar.
- Attaching the backbone to the handlebar and clamp connector.
- Ensuring the clamp rings align correctly and are positioned towards the motorcycle's center.
- Tightening specific bolts in a defined order (8, 7, 4, 5) to recommended torque specifications.
Important Notes:
- The clamp design incorporates rings for a precise fit.
- The preferred backbone position is horizontal.
- A specific nut (6) on bolt (4) is designed to recess, simplifying tightening.
Torque Settings & Recommendations
Adhering to the specified torque settings is crucial for safety. Recommended values are provided for M6, M8, M10, and M16 (item 9) fasteners.
It is recommended to use a medium-strength liquid thread lock product on all fasteners. After the initial 50km of riding, re-check all screws, bolts, and nuts for tightness.

Warning: Ensure adequate clearance (approximately 3mm) between the handguard and throttle grip for free throttle operation. Verify that all handlebar controls (throttle, brakes, kill switch, clutch) function correctly and are aligned with OEM specifications. Do not operate the motorcycle if any controls are malfunctioning.
