Safety Instructions

DANGER: If you smell gas:

WARNING:

Failure to comply with these instructions could result in a fire or explosion that could cause serious bodily injury, death, or property damage.

Combustion byproducts produced when using this product contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Your grill will be very hot. Never lean over the cooking area while using your grill. Do not touch cooking surfaces, grill housing, or any other grill parts while the grill is in operation, or until the gas grill has cooled down after use.

WARNING: Do not try lighting this appliance without reading the "LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS" section of this manual.

This grill is tested in accordance with ANSI Z21.58-2018 and CSA 1.6-2018 standards for outdoor cooking gas appliances and is for outdoor use only.

Grill Installation Codes: Check your local building codes for proper installation. If local codes are absent, follow the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54, Storage and Handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gases, ANSI/NFPA B149.2 or CSA B149.1 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, and the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.

Correct LP Gas Tank Use: This grill is designed for use with a standard 20 lb. Liquid Propane Gas tank (not included). Never connect to an LP gas tank that exceeds this capacity.

Note: The normal flow of gas through the regulator and hose assembly can create a humming noise. If the humming noise is loud and excessive, you may need to purge air from the gas line or reset the regulator.

CAUTION: Beware of Flashback

Spiders and small insects can spin webs or make nests in burner tubes, obstructing gas flow and potentially causing a "FLASH-BACK" fire. Clean burner tubes before assembly and at least monthly thereafter. If the grill has not been used for an extended period, clean the burner tubes.

Visually check burner flames before each use. Flames should be blue and stable.

LP-Gas Supply System

If instructions are not followed exactly, a fire resulting in death or serious injury could occur.

Use a 20lb tank (approx. 12 inches diameter by 18-1/4 inches high).

The LP gas supply cylinder must be constructed and marked in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) or National Standard of Canada, CAN/CSA-B339 specifications.

The LP gas tank must have a shutoff valve compatible with a Type 1 connection and an Overfill Protection Device (OPD). It must also have a safety relief device connected to the vapor space.

The tank supply system must be arranged for vapor withdrawal. The tank must have a collar to protect the valve.

Always use the dust cap provided with the cylinder valve. Never connect an unregulated LP gas tank to your grill.

This appliance is equipped with a high capacity hose/regulator assembly for connection to a standard 20lb. liquid propane cylinder.

Have your LP gas tank filled by a reputable propane dealer and inspected.

Do not store spare LP cylinders under or near this appliance.

Never fill the cylinder beyond 80 percent full. Always keep LP gas tanks upright.

Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids near this or any other appliance.

Storage of an outdoor cooking gas appliance indoors is permissible only if the cylinder is disconnected and removed.

Turn off gas at the LP tank when the grill is not in use.

Turn off gas at the supply cylinder when the appliance is not in use.

LP gas tanks must be stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area, out of reach of children. Disconnected LP gas tanks must not be stored in a building, garage, or any other enclosed area.

Do not obstruct ventilation air around the grill housing. Use only the supplied regulator and hose assembly. Replacement parts must be manufacturer-specified.

Inspect the regulator and hose assembly before each use. Replace if there is excessive abrasion, wear, or cuts.

The pressure regulator must comply with the standard for Pressure Regulating Valves for LP Gas ANSI/ UL 144.

Keep the cart free and clear from debris. Never use the grill in extremely windy conditions; a windbreak may be required. Always adhere to specified clearances.

Never use a dented or rusty propane tank.

Keep your face and hands as far away from the grill as possible while lighting.

Burner adjustment should only be performed after the burners have cooled.

Proper Placement and Clearance of Grill

Never use your gas grill in a garage, porch, shed, breezeway, or any other enclosed area. Your gas grill is for OUTDOOR USE ONLY.

Do not install this unit into combustible enclosures.

Minimum clearance from sides and back of unit to combustible construction: 36 inches (91cm) from sides and 36 inches (91cm) from back.

DO NOT use this appliance under overhead combustible surfaces. This appliance is not intended for installation in or on recreational vehicles and/or boats.

WARNING: Your grill will get very hot. Never lean over the cooking area while using your grill. Do not touch cooking surfaces, grill housing, or any other grill parts while the grill is in operation, or until the gas grill has cooled down after use.

Failure to comply with these instructions may result in serious bodily injury.

Leak Testing

Although all gas connections are leak-tested at the factory, a complete gas-tightness check must be performed at the installation site.

BEFORE TESTING: Remove all packing material, including tie-down straps.

DO NOT SMOKE WHILE LEAK TESTING. NEVER PERFORM LEAK TEST WITH AN OPEN FLAME.

Make a soap solution (one part liquid detergent and one part water). Apply to fittings with a spray bottle, brush, or rag.

TO TEST:

  1. Ensure control valves are OFF. Turn on the gas supply.
  2. Check all connections from the LP gas regulator and supply valve up to the manifold pipe assembly. Soap bubbles will appear where a leak is present.
  3. If a leak is present, turn off the gas supply immediately and tighten the leaky fittings.
  4. Turn the gas back on and recheck.
  5. If the gas continues to leak, turn off the gas supply and contact customer service at 1-800-913-8999.

ALWAYS CHECK FOR LEAKS AFTER EVERY L.P. TANK CHANGE.

GAS FLOW CHECK: Burner flames should be blue and stable with no yellow tips, excessive noise, or lifting. If any of these conditions exist, check for blocked air shutters or burner ports. Contact customer service at 1-800-913-8999 for flame stability questions.

GENERAL USE OF THE MAIN BURNER: Each main burner is rated at 15,000 BTU/hr. Igniter knobs are on the lower center of the valve panel.

Only use parts recommended by the manufacturer. Substitution will void the warranty. Do not use the grill until all connections have been checked and do not leak.

Lighting Instructions

IMPORTANT BEFORE LIGHTING: Inspect gas supply hose for cuts, wear, or abrasion. Replace if necessary. Do not use if gas odor is present. Use only the supplied regulator and hose assembly.

Never substitute regulators and hose assemblies. Contact the manufacturer for proper replacement.

WARNING: Keep your face and body as far away from the burner as possible when lighting.

GENERAL USE OF THE MAIN BURNER: Burners are rated at 15,000 BTU/hr. Igniter knobs are on the control panel.

  3. Once the burner is lit, release the ignition button and knob.
  4. If the burner does not light, turn the knob to O and repeat the lighting procedure.

TO MATCH LIGHT THE BURNER:

  1. If a burner does not light after several attempts, allow 5 minutes for accumulated gas to dissipate.
  2. Clip a paper match onto the end of the lighting rod.
  3. Light the match.
  4. Hold the lighting rod and insert the lit match next to the burner ports or ceramic file.
  5. Push and turn the control knob to the desired setting.
  6. The burner should ignite immediately.

Minor adjustments may be necessary due to variations in local gas supply.

Do not attempt to light the grill if there is a gas odor. Call 1-800-913-8999.

Check all gas connections before each use.

Care and Maintenance

Ensure gas supply and knobs are OFF. Ensure the griddle is cool before handling.

BURNERS: Exercise extreme care when moving a burner. It must be centered on the orifice before relighting. Cleaning frequency depends on grill usage.

MAIN BURNER CLEANING: Ensure gas supply is OFF and knobs are OFF. Ensure grill is cool. Clean burner exterior with a wire brush. Use a metal scraper for stubborn scale. Clear clogged ports with a straightened paper clip. Never use a wooden toothpick as it may break off and clog the port. If insects or other obstructions block gas flow, call customer service at 1-800-913-8999.

GREASE TRAY CLEANING: Empty and wipe the grease tray after each use. Wash with mild detergent and warm water. A small amount of sand can be placed in the bottom to absorb grease. Check frequently to prevent overflow.

  1. Remove the main burner "R" pin on the back wall of the firebox using needle-nose pliers. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the burner pin cover, then remove the burner from the front wall of the firebox.
  2. Insert the burner onto the orifice and secure the burner pin cover. Ensure the burner hole aims at the orifice.
  3. Secure the main burner on the back wall of the firebox with the "R" pin.

Seasoning Your Griddle

Maintaining a seasoned griddle surface is important for optimal performance and longevity. Seasoning prevents rust and corrosion and creates a permanent non-stick surface.

FIRST TIME USE: Your griddle comes pre-seasoned. Wash with hot, soapy water before first use. Never use soap after the first use. Rinse and dry completely, then proceed with seasoning steps.

SEASONING YOUR GRIDDLE:

  1. Clean off food residue.
  2. Apply cooking oil (flaxseed, olive, vegetable, etc.) evenly to the hot griddle surface.
  3. Use a paper towel to spread the oil evenly over the entire hot griddle surface.
  4. Allow the griddle to cool completely before storing in a cool, dry place.

AFTER EACH USE: Scrape off food residue, wipe with a towel. For stuck food, pour hot water onto the surface or use ¼ cup of table salt as an abrasive. Then follow the "SEASONING YOUR GRIDDLE" steps.

Grill Hints

Meat doneness depends on thickness. Thin cuts are difficult to cook rare.

Cooking time is affected by meat type, size, shape, starting temperature, and desired doneness.

Defrost meat in the refrigerator overnight for juicier results.

Use a spatula instead of tongs or a fork to turn meat. A spatula will not puncture the meat and let juices run out.

For juicier meats, add seasoning or salt after cooking each side and turn the meat only once. Turn the meat after juices begin to bubble to the surface.

Trim excess fat before cooking. To prevent steaks or chops from curling, slit the fat around the edges at 2-inch intervals.

DO NOT LEAVE THE GRILL UNATTENDED WHILE COOKING.

Ordering Parts

To order replacement parts, refer to the parts list on pages 31-33. You will need the gas grill model number (on the data sticker), the part number, and a description of the part needed.

Contact Nexgrill Customer Relations at 1-800-913-8999.

IMPORTANT: Use only factory authorized parts. Using non-authorized parts can be dangerous and will void your warranty.

Keep this manual for assembly and operating instructions for future reference and parts ordering.

Troubleshooting

SPIDER AND INSECT WARNING: Inspect burners at least once a year or immediately after:

BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE: Use the following checklist before contacting customer service.

PREHEATING: Close the grill lid during preheating. Preheat for five minutes for high-temperature cooking or two to three minutes for lower-temperature cooking.

CAUTION: If burners go out during operation, close gas supply, turn off all gas valves, wait five minutes before attempting to relight.

CAUTION: If a grease fire occurs, close gas supply, turn off all burners until the fire is controlled.

CAUTION: DO NOT disconnect any gas fitting while the grill is in operation. Proper care and maintenance ensure continued operation and prolong the life of your grill.

PROBLEM: Grill will not light immediately.

SOLUTION: Ensure there is a spark. Check electrode wire connection and battery installation. Clean wires/electrodes with rubbing alcohol and a clean swab. Check if other burners operate. If so, check the gas orifice on the malfunctioning burner for obstruction.

PROBLEM: Regulator makes noise.

SOLUTION: Vent hose on regulator may be plugged or regulator may be faulty. Ensure vent hole is clear. Close gas control valves, wait ten minutes, and restart. Check flames for proper performance. If flames are incorrect, replace regulator.

PROBLEM: Full size cover does not fit the grill.

SOLUTION: Cover may be incorrect or too tight. Ensure cover length matches grill. Compare hood location and size. Allow cover to relax in warm sunlight. For grills with a side shelf, bunch the cover like a sock.

PROBLEM: Burner flames are not light blue.

SOLUTION: Too much or too little air for the flame. Elevation is a primary cause, but cold weather can affect the mixture. Burner adjustment may be required. Grill may be in a windy location.
