The SANDLPARE collection invites children and families on an imaginative journey to the wild African savannah. Designed by Anna Lagerström, this collection encourages learning and play through encounters with fascinating animals, fostering curiosity about nature and wildlife conservation.

This collection features a range of textiles, soft toys, and decorative items designed to bring the spirit of the savannah into children's rooms, making them feel like they are exploring the wild.
SANDLPARE Duvet Cover and Pillowcase

Inspired by the Wild ?
The SANDLPARE collection draws inspiration from the diverse and fascinating animals of the African savannah. Each product aims to spark children's imagination and encourage them to learn about these creatures and their habitats.
Anna Lagerström, Illustrator: "I wanted children to discover the animals gradually. Some of them are hiding and others are halfway out of frame. To me, that made sense. Wild animals are really good at hiding. If you want to play with them, first you have to find them."
Jorge Omar Santoyo Henaine, Product Developer, IKEA: "For a soft toy animal, everything is in the eyes. The size and placement of a white dot can be the difference between angry, surprised, happy or sad."
Play and Learn ?
The SANDLPARE collection supports the IKEA Play Report's findings on the value of play. It aims to inspire families to explore savannah stories at home, providing facts about animals to fuel ideas and turn learning into games.

The collection includes interactive elements, such as finding hidden giraffes in room scenes, encouraging observation and engagement.

Safety as a Precondition ✔️
IKEA soft toys are developed with safety as a top priority. They undergo rigorous testing, including pull tests, chemical analysis, and durability checks. Since 1997, IKEA has used embroidered eyes on soft toys instead of beads to prevent choking hazards. This design choice also contributes to a livelier, more expressive appearance for the toys.
All IKEA soft toys can be machine washed at 40°C ?.

Collaboration for Conservation ?
IKEA collaborates with the wildlife conservation centre Nordens Ark. This partnership involves financial donations and educational support to raise awareness for endangered species. Nordens Ark's expertise helps IKEA develop products that inspire curiosity about the planet and its animals, ensuring illustrations are accurate.
Anna Edlundh, Product Developer, IKEA: "Together with Nordens Ark, we can ensure our illustrations are even closer to reality. Before our collaboration, I had never heard of the flat pancake tortoise or the slender-snouted crocodile."
Anna Lagerström, Illustrator: "I want children to become curious about the endangered animals of the savannah. With the textiles and soft toys, they get to meet and play with the animals and in the activity book they can learn more about them."
