Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the ProDevice DSS - Drawer Storage System. This system is an excellent solution for secure storage and archiving of data media, including magnetic tapes, disk drives, floppy disks, and more. The product is constructed from high-quality steel and finished with powder coating.

This user manual is integral to the device. Read and understand the manual before operating the cabinet. Keep the manual for future reference. DISKUS Polska Sp. z o. o., as the manufacturer, is not responsible for partial or total failure to comply with this manual.

Strictly follow the operating guidance specified in this manual. Any deviation from it is against the intended use of the cabinet. The manufacturer will not be liable for any damage caused by non-intended use of the device.

Never attempt to modify the cabinet. The manufacturer will not be liable for performance or operating safety if the device is modified.

The manufacturer reserves the right to introduce changes to device designs deemed necessary to improve them.

1. Features

  • Dimensions: 1071 mm x 1005 mm x 590 mm (42.2 in x 39.6 in x 23.2 in).
  • Weight: DSS500 171 kg (377 lb) / DSS600 176 kg (388 lb).
  • Drawers are lined with a damping mat, which protects carriers and minimizes media movement.
  • Includes separation barriers for organizing media.
  • Features a locking mechanism that prevents pulling out multiple drawers simultaneously.
  • Equipped with an Ultra Track lock (two keys included).
  • Includes self-leveling feet for stability.

2. Packaging Removal

The DSS cabinet is delivered in a dedicated box on a pallet. Due to its weight, at least two people are required to remove it from the pallet. Carefully remove all packaging materials and verify that the contents are complete as listed in the product features. Immediately inspect the cabinet for any evidence of transport damage. If the device or accessories are damaged, report this to the shipment forwarder and the manufacturer.

After removing all packaging, place the cabinet on a firm, sheltered surface at the designated installation site. Secure the device to prevent movement.

3. Overview

The ProDevice DSS cabinets are designed for efficient data media storage. Drawers can be configured with separating barriers for different media types.

Cabinet Configurations:

For HARD DRIVE DISKS: The cabinet features drawers configured with dividers suitable for hard drive disks. The overall dimensions of this configuration are approximately 468.8 mm in height and 904.1 mm in width, with specific internal drawer dimensions shown for partitioning.

For MAGNETIC TAPES: The cabinet also offers drawers configured with dividers optimized for magnetic tapes, such as LTO tapes. The overall dimensions are similar, approximately 468.8 mm in height and 904.1 mm in width, with internal drawer dimensions detailed for tape storage.

5. Storage of Media

Begin loading storage media from the lowest level (bottom drawer) of the ProDevice DSS. Each drawer must be loaded with evenly distributed components. Do not exceed a maximum load of 50 kg per drawer.

[DANGER!] ⚠️ Never attempt to sit on top of the DSS media cabinet!

6. Maintenance

Clean the cabinet using only a soft cloth and water. Do not allow water to enter the device. Avoid using scouring agents, cleaning fluids, petroleum, or thinners.

Mechanical maintenance should only be performed by the manufacturer's authorized service personnel. In case of device failure or interruption in operation due to damage, contact the manufacturer's authorized service.
