1 Important Safety Information

Read this user manual carefully before using the appliance and keep it for future reference.

General Safety

  • WARNING: Do not use this appliance near water. When the appliance is used in a bathroom, unplug it after use since the proximity of water presents a hazard, even when the appliance is switched off.
  • WARNING: Do not use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water.
  • Always unplug the appliance after use.
  • The supply cord cannot be replaced. If the supply cord is damaged, the appliance must be replaced by Philips, a service center authorized by Philips, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  • For additional protection, Philips advises installing a residual current device (RCD) in the electrical circuit that supplies the bathroom. This RCD must have a rated residual operating current not higher than 30mA. Ask an installer for advice.
  • Do not pull on the supply cord after using. Always unplug the appliance by holding the plug.
  • Before connecting the appliance, ensure that the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local power voltage.
  • Do not use the appliance for any other purpose than described in the user manual.
  • Do not use the appliance on artificial hair.
  • When the appliance is connected to the power, never leave it unattended.
  • Never use accessories or parts from other manufacturers or those Philips does not specifically recommend. If such accessories or parts are used, the guarantee becomes invalid.
  • Do not wind the supply cord around the appliance.
  • Wait until the appliance has cooled down before storing it.
  • Do not operate the appliance with wet hands.
  • Always return the appliance to a service center authorized by Philips for examination or repair. Repair by unqualified people could cause an extremely hazardous situation for the user.
  • Do not connect the appliance with a plug adapter. If really necessary, only use a certified plug adapter.
  • If the appliance overheats, it switches off automatically. Unplug the appliance and let it cool down for a few minutes. Before switching the appliance on again, check the grilles to make sure they are not blocked by fluff, hair, etc.
  • Do not insert metal objects into the air grilles to avoid electric shock.
  • Never block the air grilles.

Electromagnetic Fields (EMF)

This Philips appliance complies with all applicable standards and regulations regarding exposure to electromagnetic fields.

Recycling

This symbol (a crossed-out wheeled bin) means that electrical products shall not be disposed of with normal household waste. Follow your country's rules for the separate collection of electrical products.

2 How to Use Your Hair Dryer

The hair dryer features a sleek design with an ergonomic handle and intuitive controls. It includes a concentrator nozzle for precise drying and a diffuser for adding volume and bounce.

  1. For precise drying, attach the concentrator nozzle onto the hairdryer.
  2. Switch on the hairdryer with the desired speed setting and press the button to select your preferred mode.
  3. Press the cool shot button for cool airflow to fix your style. Press again to exit cool shot and return to the selected mode.
  4. (Only for BHD720/10) To enhance volume for curls and bouncy style, attach the diffuser onto the hairdryer. Insert the pins into your hair to touch your scalp and make rotating movements.

3 After Use

  1. Switch off the appliance and unplug it.
  2. The airflow outlet of the hair dryer and the attachment are hot after use; do not touch them immediately.

4 Troubleshooting

The appliance does not work at all.The power socket to which the appliance is connected may be broken.Check the appliance is plugged in correctly. Check the fuse for this power socket in your home.
The appliance may have overheated and switched itself off.Unplug the appliance and let it cool down for a few minutes. Before switching the appliance on again, check the grilles to make sure they are not blocked by fluff, hair, etc.
The appliance's voltage may not be suitable for the voltage to which it has been connected.Ensure that the voltage indicated on the type plate of the appliance corresponds to the local power voltage.
There is a bad smell when first-time of use.The smell may come from the new appliance.The smell will gradually disappear after a few uses. Please try to dry/style your hair in a well-ventilated room.
There is a burning smell when drying/styling my hair.If there is some dust or residue left in the appliance, it may be burnt due to the high temperature and produce odor.Turn off the appliance and wait until it cools down. Check if any residues are left. Remove dirty stuffs from the appliance and keep it clean.
