Rice Lake Adult & Child Scale
Model D400 Operation

The Rice Lake Adult and Child Scale takes the traditional home health scale to a new level by accurately weighing a child while the child is being held. The scale is powered by battery or AC adapter.

To prevent personal injury to the user and damage to the scale, ensure all users read and understand the CAUTION following statements.
· Do not attempt to transport the scale while someone is standing on it.
· Do not drop the scale or subject it to violent shocks.
· For accurate weighing, the scale must be placed on a flat, stable surface, avoiding carpeted areas.
· Weight exceeding the maximum capacity (440 lb/200 kg) may damage the scale.
· The scale is not waterproof; avoid contact with excessive moisture.
· Never place the scale close to heat-radiating appliances.
· The scale is not intended for use by individuals with restricted physical, physiological or intellectual abilities or deficiencies in experience/knowledge unless supervised by a person responsible for their safety.

Scale Setup

1. Remove the pre-assembled scale from its packaging.

2. Place the scale on a flat, firm surface. Ensure that the floor surface is free from moisture to avoid the possibility of slipping.
3. Plug in the AC power adapter or insert the four AA batteries into unit.

4. Toggle to kilogram (KG) or pounds (LB) switch located on the bottom of the unit.

5. Use the POWER ON/OFF toggle switch located on the underside of the scale to activate the scale.

Adult and Child Weighing Mode
1. Turn on the scale by pressing the silver icon button located at the base of the scale.

2. Step on the scale, position feet in a manner that distributes weight evenly over the entire scale platform.

3. Step off the scale. The current weight is displayed.

4. Press the silver icon button located at the base of the scale. 0.0 displays.
5. Step on the scale again holding the child. The scale ignores the adult weight, displaying only the child's weight.

6. Step off the scale and press the silver icon button to zero out the scale and turn it off.

Transporting
To transport the scale, turn the scale off using the POWER ON/OFF toggle switch on the bottom of the scale. See Figure 2

Scale Care
Periodically wipe down the scale surface with a damp cloth to remove dust; if needed, apply a mild detergent with a cloth. Store the scale in a clean and dry location.

Limited Warranty
Rice Lake Weighing Systems (RLWS) warrants that all RLWS equipment will operate per written specifications as confirmed by the Distributor/OEM and accepted by RLWS. All systems and components are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for one (1) year.
RLWS warrants that the equipment sold hereunder will conform to the current written specifications authorized by RLWS. RLWS warrants the equipment against faulty workmanship and defective materials. If any equipment fails to conform to these warranties, RLWS will, at its option, repair or replace such goods returned within the warranty period subject to the following conditions:
· Upon discovery by Buyer of such nonconformity, RLWS will be given prompt written notice with a detailed explanation of the alleged deficiencies. · Examination of such equipment by RLWS confirms that the nonconformity actually exists, and was not caused by accident, misuse, neglect, alteration, improper installation, improper repair or improper testing; RLWS shall be the sole judge of all alleged non-conformities. · Such equipment has not been modified, altered, or changed by any person other than RLWS or its duly authorized repair agents. · RLWS will have a reasonable time to repair or replace the defective equipment. Buyer is responsible for shipping charges both ways. These warranties exclude all other warranties, expressed or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Neither RLWS nor distributor will, in any event, be liable for incidental or consequential damages.
RLWS and buyer agree that RLWS's sole and exclusive liability hereunder is limited to repair or replacement of such goods. In accepting this warranty, the buyer waives any and all other claims to warranty.
Should the seller be other than RLWS, the buyer agrees to look only to the seller for warranty claims.
No terms, conditions, understanding, or agreements purporting to modify the terms of this warranty shall have any legal effect unless made in writing and signed by a corporate officer of RLWS and the Buyer.
