Please read through this manual to get the most out of your X5i speaker. User Safety: Avoid using or charging the speaker in wet conditions as it may pose a risk to personal safety. 2. Avoid Liquid Exposure: Do not expose the X5i speaker to any liquid while playing or charging. This can be dangerous and may result in permanent damage to the speaker. 3. Charging in Cold Environments: Do not charge the X5i speaker in sub-zero environments. Charging below zero degrees Celsius may cause damage to the battery. 4. Dry and Clean Charging: Only charge your X5i speaker when it is completely dry and clean to prevent damage and ensure safe operation. 5. Secure Ports: Always close the charging port cover when not charging. Short press re-enables it Let's get started 1. Charging the X5i Please use the supplied power cable to charge the X5i. The charge port can be found at the rear of the speaker, behind the port cover. Please close the port cover when you have finished charging the X5i. A full charge will take around 4 hours. The four battery indicators will light up during charging. When the speaker has low battery capacity, the speaker will announce, 'Battery Low'. 2. Powering the speaker ON/OFF Press button to power on/off the speaker (1.5s). The LED display will show On after you have pressed the button. Each time the speaker powers on, it will reset to 25% volume. After 10 mins with no connection, the X5i will automatically power off to conserve battery. 3. Pairing the speaker to your phone or device (Bluetooth mode) 1. When the speaker is first powered on, it will go to Bluetooth mode and be ready to pair. If the speaker is in another mode, press the M button to get back to Bluetooth mode, or press the button. 2. The speaker will announce `Bluetooth'. The word BLUE, will flash on the LED display. 3. On your phone or device, look for BlueAnt X5i under the Bluetooth settings menu. Click on BlueAnt X5i on your phone. 4. Once paired, the speaker will announce `Connected' and the LED display will stop flashing and the word BLUE will remain solid. You are now ready to play some music! 4. To pair another Bluetooth device or phone 1. Long press button for 3s to disconnect Bluetooth. It will enter Bluetooth pairing mode if there is no paired devices, and the word BLUE will flash on the LED display. 2. If you are disconnected, single click button to reconnect the Bluetooth. The speaker will announce `Connected' and the word BLUE will stop flashing. 5. You can also use your phone to control music and volume 15 13 17 19 3 6. LED light modes With seven built-in LED light modes, the X5i lights can be changed to suit the mood and the music. Simply press the LED each mode. 1. To turn off the LED lights, press and hold the LED button for 3s. 2. To turn the LED lights back on, simple press the LED button. The X5i will remember the last LED mode it was set to, the next time it powers on and go back to that LED mode. button to toggle through Example modes. Not all are shown 7. Bass Boost 8. Reconnect and disconnect Bluetooth devices 1. Standard EQ is the default EQ the first time the X5i powers on. 2. If you press the the Bass Boost. Bass Boost button, the EQ will switch to 3. See Sections 15 & 16 (Pages 8 & 9) to learn how you can enhance the bass even more, by positioning the speaker (for indoor use). 4 9. Battery life and play time · The X5i has a play time of around 30 hours at 50% volume · When used at 100% volume, the play time is 6-7 hours · To use the X5i at 100% volume for long periods, please use the supplied power cable · Battery life will vary based on type of music, level of bass, LED, Powerbank and environmental factors · 4 lights - Battery fully charged 10. Powerbank - For charging your phone · The X5i has a built in powerbank function (at the top of the X5i) with an output of the 5V1A · Use of the powerbank function will lower the overall play time of the X5i · When the X5i battery is very low, the powerbank function will turn off to conserve power 11. USB mode 1. Plug the USB drive into the speaker. Short press M button to enter USB Mode. The speaker will announce `USB Mode.' The word USB will be solid on the LED display. To play music from a USB stick, simply press the button. The and buttons can be used to change tracks. Note: USB music supports MP3, WAV, WMA, APE and FLAC formats. 2. When you unplug the USB stick, the X5i will change back to Bluetooth mode. 12. AUX in mode 1. Plug a 3.5mm audio cable to connect the speaker and an audio source (PC, MP3, MP4, Mobile phone). 2. Short press M button to enter AUX in mode, and the speaker will announce, AUX In Mode. 3. The word LINE will be solid on the LED display and then the speaker will play music from the audio source. The audio source needs to be used to control the music. 4. When you unplug the AUX cable, the X5i will change back to Bluetooth mode. 5 Wireless microphones 13. Using the microphones To avoid feedback, please do not point the microphone at the speaker or bring the microphone within 30cm of the speaker 1. Turn on the X5i, press and hold the button of wireless microphone for 1.5s to power on the microphone. For the second microphone, repeat the same process. 2. Now you can use the microphone to adjust the volume. The default 2 microphone volume is Level 4 of 16. · The display will show 1 (00-16) for the Volume levels of Microphone 1 and 2 (00-16) for the Volume levels of Microphone 2 · If you set either microphone to a Volume Level of 00, then there will be no sound from that microphone · The microphone volume resets to the default of 4, every time the microphones are powered on · The speaker volume controls the overall output of the speaker and the microphones. If this is set to 0, then there will be no output from the microphones 3. You can use the echo + and - to adjust the level of echo applied to the microphones. This echo control effects both microphones. · When you adjust the level of echo, the display will show this as E 00-16 · The default level of echo is E 04 and the speaker will reset to this level each time it powers on 4. To power off a microphone, simply hold the power button of the wireless microphone for 1.5s. 5. To reset the wireless microphone, with it powered on, press and hold + & - for 5s. The microphone will disconnect from the speaker, if it was connected, and flash red, green, blue and then reconnect to the speaker. 6 Item Button Operation 1 Short press 1.5s Power ON/OFF Function 2 1 3 4 3 4 5 5 Light Indicator When you turn on the microphone, the battery level indicator light will show the current charge level of the microphone. · 0-14% Red flashing · 15-44% Red solid · 45-74% Blue solid · 75-100% Green solid When the indicator light starts flashing Red, please charge the microphone using the supplied USB charging cable, plugged into the USB port on the X5i. Please only use 5V 1A to charge the microphone. · A full charge will take around 4.5h · The charge level will also show when charging When fully charged, the microphone will last for about 60 hrs. The microphone will automatically power off after 10 minutes if it is not connected to the speaker, and after 30 minutes when connected to the speaker, if the microphone is not in use to conserve battery. Duo Mode Function - Pairing two X5i speakers together Dual speaker, wireless stereo pairing, for a wide stereo sound stage. For maximum bass experience, you can connect two X5i speakers and place one in each corner of a room to double the sound. Please see Section 16 - Page 9. 1. Press the power button on the first speaker to turn the speaker On. 2. Press and hold the Duo mode button for 4s on the first speaker until the speaker announces, `Duo Mode pairing', then release the button. The word DUO will flash on the LED display. 3. Press the power button on the second speaker to turn the speaker On. Press the Duo mode button for 4s on the second speaker until the speaker announces, `Duo Mode pairing', then release the button. The word DUO will flash on the screen. 4. Please wait 30s for the two speakers to connect with each other. Both speakers will say, `Duo Mode Connected' and the word `DUO' will be solid on the LED display. The speakers are now connected to each other. 5. The speaker that announces `DUO' is the secondary speaker. The speaker that has the word BLUE flashing, is the primary speaker, and this is the one you should connect to your phone. 6. To disconnect Duo mode, long press the button for 4s until you hear, `Duo Mode disconnected'. 7. To clear the pairing memory, long press the button for 8s until the speaker announces, `Duo Mode cleared'. 8. In Duo mode when you turn off one speaker, both will power off automatically. The speakers will reconnect when they are both powered on. For Bluetooth pairing, look for `BlueAnt X5i' on your phone. When in Duo Mode and you power off one speaker, both speakers will power off When you power on the speakers, they need to be turned on individually When both speakers are powered on, Duo Mode will automatically reconnect and you will hear `Duo Mode connected' To disconnect Duo Mode, press and hold the Duo Mode button for 4s until you hear `Duo Mode disconnected' To clear Duo Mode mode pairing, press and hold the Duo Mode buttons for 8s until the speaker says `Duo Mode cleared' Assuming direct line of sight, you should be able to achieve a range of over 20 metres between the two speakers. When used indoors, the range will be affected by internal walls or obstacles between the speakers. 7 Speaker Positioning 15. Enhancing the bass through speaker positioning (indoors) The X5i has a rear firing port to extend the low frequency bass response. If maximum bass is your thing, try these tips and tricks for speaker placement indoors. When the X5i speaker is placed on the floor (assuming no walls close by), the floor re-enforces the bass (+6dB). When the X5i speaker is sitting on the floor near a wall, the floor and wall re-enforces the bass (+12dB). Putting the X5i in a corner gives maximum bass reinforcement (+18dB). 8 Speaker Positioning cont'd... 16.
