Geeni Smart Wi-Fi LED Strip Start Guide

Welcome to your new Geeni Smart Wi-Fi LED Strip.

Getting Started

Thank you for purchasing your GEENI smart home product. Get started using your new devices by downloading the Geeni app, a convenient app that manages everything straight from your phone or tablet. Easily connect to your home Wi-Fi and control multiple devices from the touch of your fingertips.

Download the Geeni App

Download the Geeni app from the App Store or Google Play.

Register an Account

Create an account on your Geeni app to manage your devices.

  1. Step 1: Enter your mobile phone number or email address.
  2. Step 2: Enter the verification code sent to your phone and create a password.
  3. Step 3: Log in to the app.

Prepare the LED Strip

Measure the Area: Measure the area where you wish to attach the LED strip. Ensure the surface is clean and solid.

Measure and Cut the Strip: Measure the LED strip for the desired length, starting at the end closest to the Wi-Fi Controller connector. IMPORTANT: If you measure and cut from the opposite end, you will not be able to connect the LED strip to the Wi-Fi Controller. Each strip has cut markings located every 10cm. Take a sharp pair of scissors or blade, and cut along the cut mark.

Add Device: Method 1: Easy Mode

  1. In the Geeni app, on the top corner of the Devices screen, click the '+' button. Choose "Smart Lighting".
  2. Power on the device and confirm that the indicator light is flashing quickly, indicating it's ready to connect. If not, turn the bulb off and on 3 times until it is flashing. Press "Next Step."

Add Device: Method 2: Backup AP Mode

  1. Make sure the device is in AP Mode, blinking slowly (refer to reset instructions).
  2. In the Geeni app, on the top corner of the Devices screen, click the '+' button. Choose "AP Mode" in the top corner. Choose "Smart Lighting".
  3. Click "Next" and enter your Wi-Fi details.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

The Geeni app will attempt to connect your device. Ensure your phone and device are as close to your router as possible.

NOTE: Geeni can't connect to 5GHz networks. If the connection fails, try to connect using AP Mode.

Cannot Connect to Your Wi-Fi Network

Device Appears Offline or Unreachable

Reset the Device

To reset the LED strip, press and hold the reset button for 3 seconds.

What's in the Box

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I share with family and friends?

Yes, you can share your devices with family and friends. In the Geeni app, go to the Profile section, click "Device Sharing", and you can grant or revoke permissions. The other user must have the Geeni app downloaded and an account registered.

2. Can I group multiple Geeni devices together?

Yes, you can group devices by room, location, or any other way you prefer. From your main device list, select a device, go to advanced settings (via the '...' button), and click "Create Group". You can then select devices to include and rename the group.

3. How Many Devices Can I Control?

The Geeni app can control an unlimited number of devices across unlimited locations. However, your Wi-Fi router may have a limit on the total number of connected devices.

4. My Geeni device has a funny name. How do I rename it?

From your main device list, select the device, press the '...' button for advanced settings, and click "Modify Device Name" (or "Modify Group Name" if applicable) to choose a more familiar name.

5. The device appears offline or unreachable, what should I do?

Ensure your Wi-Fi router is online and within range. Check for the latest Geeni functionality by clicking "Check for firmware update" in your device settings.

6. What's the Wireless Range?

The wireless range is heavily dependent on your home router and room conditions. Consult your router's specifications for exact range data.

7. If my Wi-Fi/Internet goes down, will Geeni still work?

No, Geeni products require a Wi-Fi connection to operate remotely.

CAUTION: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK OR BURNS - USE IN A DRY LOCATION ONLY.

The weather-resistant IP44 rating protects the LED strip only from splashes in any direction. DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER.

WARNING: The LED strip must be unplugged when making any modifications to the device. Electrical currents are dangerous and may cause electrical shock, injury, or death (in some cases).
