Initial Operation
Before first use, clean the inside of the kettle thoroughly. Open the lid. A filter in the pouring spout retains large limescale particles. Excess power cord length can be wound up in the base. Connect the plug to an earthed socket. Fill with water so the level is visible on the indicator, but not above the Max mark. Close the lid for reliable automatic shut-off. Place the kettle on the base in any position. Press the ON switch located under the handle. The switch only locks when the kettle is on the base. Do not use the first quantity of boiled water for food preparation.
Diagram Description: The diagrams illustrate the process of filling the kettle with water up to the visible level indicator and placing the kettle onto its base before pressing the ON switch.
Automatic Switch-off
The automatic switch-off function turns off the kettle shortly after boiling. If the kettle contains little water, the shut-off time is extended. For warm, not boiling water, the heating can be interrupted by pressing the ON switch. The appliance also switches off automatically when lifted from the base. Condensation may appear at the handle base openings; this is normal and does not affect safety.
Safety System
A thermostat protects the kettle from overheating by switching it off if accidentally operated without water. Always allow the kettle to cool down before refilling. An additional temperature limiter provides reliable protection if the primary thermostat fails due to misuse.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Unplug the appliance and let it cool down. Do not immerse in water. Wipe with a damp cloth with a drop of washing-up liquid, then dry thoroughly. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners. The stainless steel pot may develop rust stains from surface deposits; remove these immediately with a stainless steel cleaner. The mesh filter in the spout can be removed for cleaning by opening the lid and pressing the top lug upwards. When reinserting, align the filter centrally and latch it forward.
Descaling
Descale the appliance regularly with a high-quality, suitable commercial descaler. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, especially regarding rinsing with clean water. Suitable descalers contain inhibitors to protect seals and surfaces, do not cause other deposits, and are taste-neutral. Do not use unsuitable agents (e.g., pure vinegar or citric acid). Warranty does not cover damage from unsuitable descalers or failure to follow instructions. Keep descalers out of reach of children and avoid inhaling steam during descaling.
