Do not charge the radio or battery in an explosive environment, such as gas, dust, smoke area etc. Please turn off the radio when nearby gas station. Do not disassemble or modify the radio. Do not leave the radio under dusty or wet environment. It's very important for users to understand all instruction knowledge before using the radio, please obey the local legal rules.

FAMILIAR WITH RADIO
3.1 MACHINE SCHEMATIC
A description of the radio's physical components:
- Antenna: The external antenna for signal transmission and reception.
- PTT Button: Press to transmit.
- Power/Volume Knob: Turns the device on/off and adjusts volume.
- Side-key 1: Programmable side button.
- Side-key 2: Programmable side button.
- Speaker: Outputs audio.
- Keypad: For inputting commands and frequencies.
- Indicator Light: Shows status (e.g., transmitting, receiving).
- Programming/Earphone Jack: For connecting programming cables or earphones.
- Battery: The power source.
- Type-C Charging Port: For charging the battery.
3.2 LCD ICON DISPLAY
Explanation of icons displayed on the LCD screen:
- ① Lock key: Icon shows up when keypads are locked.
- ② Keypad Beep: Indicates keypad beep is enabled.
- ③ Scan: Indicates scanning function is active.
- ④ Dual Standby: Indicates dual standby mode is active.
- ⑤ VOX: Indicates VOX (Voice Activated Transmission) is active.
- ⑥ Talk around/Reverse Frequency (TR): Indicates TR mode (reverse frequency or talk around) is active.
- ⑦ Battery Level: Shows the remaining battery power.
- ⑧ Channel Number: Displays the current channel number (CHXXX) or frequency mode (VFO).
- ⑨ CTCSS/DCS: Indicates sub-tone status. 'MUTE' means non-standard sub-tones, 'ENC' means sub-tone is encrypted.
- ⑩ Channel Bandwidth: 'W' for Wide Band, 'N' for Narrow Band.
- ⑪ Channel Name: Displays the name of the current channel.
- ⑫ TX Power: 'H' for High power, 'L' for Low power.
- ⑬ Voice Strength: Indicates the strength of the received/transmitted voice.
- ⑭ Working Mode: Indicates the current operating mode.
- ⑮ Main Working Area: Highlights the primary channel or frequency.
- ⑯ FM/AM VO-MIC: Indicates FM/AM mode or VOX status.
- ⑰ TX/RX Icon: Blue indicates receiving status, Red indicates transmitting status.
FUNCTION AND OPERATION
4.1 Transmitting Signal
Press the [PTT] key to transmit. The signal icon ⑰ turns red, and the indicator light turns red.
4.2 Receiving Signal
When the device receives a signal on the current working channel with matching CTCSS/DCS, the indicator light turns green, and the signal icon ⑰ shows up in blue.
4.3 Working Mode Switching
Short press the [#] button to switch between VFO frequency mode and Channel MODE. The icon ⑧ changes accordingly (VHF for VFO, CHXXX for Channel mode).
4.4 Frequency Changing and Repeater Frequency Setting
In VFO mode, manually input frequencies using the keypad (6 digits). For repeater use, set TX frequencies according to the repeater frequency table. Long press the [*] button to enter TX frequency input mode (icon ⑭ turns red). Input 6 digits to set TX frequencies. The screen will then shift to receiving status. Long press [*] again to change transmitting frequencies.
Short press [▲]/[▼] to switch preset working frequencies. Long press [▲]/[▼] for fast switching.
4.5 Channel Switching
In channel mode, input the channel number via keypad or use [▲]/[▼] to switch channels sequentially. Long press [▲]/[▼] for fast switching.
4.6 Air Band Receiving
When the working frequency is set between 108-136MHz, the icon ⑯ shows 'AM', indicating air band receiving status. Transmission is not allowed in air band status.
4.7 Frequency Detecting and Decoding
Set a side-key to Frequency Detect. Press the side-key in standby status to detect and decode frequencies. This function cannot detect CTCSS of anti-decoded radios. Press [PTT] to exit.
If frequencies change while the radio is not scanning, it may indicate strong electromagnetic interference. Avoid scanning in such environments. After scanning, press [MENU] to save the scanned frequency and CTCSS on the current channel, or press [PTT] or [EXIT] to exit. Standard CTCSS will display normally; non-standard CTCSS will show as "23b" or "24b" with numbers.
4.8 FM Function
Long press [0] to enter FM radio mode. Use [▲][▼] to search for signals or input frequencies manually. Short press [▲][▼] to stop scanning. To receive signals while in FM mode, go to Menu -> Settings -> FM Standby.
4.9 NOAA
Set a side-key to Weather CH. Press the side-key in standby status to access NOAA weather report channels. Use [▲][▼] to switch channels. The device will automatically scan NOAA channels if no operation is performed for 2 seconds. NOAA function is available only in supported countries and areas. The 11 NOAA working frequencies are:
- 1: 162.55000MHz
- 2: 162.40000MHz
- 3: 162.47500MHz
- 4: 162.42500MHz
- 5: 162.45000MHz
- 6: 162.50000MHz
- 7: 162.52500MHz
- 8: 161.65000MHz
- 9: 161.77500MHz
- 10: 161.75000MHz
- 11: 162.00000MHz
4.10 Inputting Method
Characters can be changed via the inputting method in Menu -> Setting -> Personal ID and Menu -> Setting -> Personal ID.
4.10.1 Delete Character
In Personal ID, the display is padded with blank characters up to 16 bytes (2 bytes per Chinese character, 1 byte per digit/English letter/symbol). In Channel Name, it's padded to 10 bytes. Move the cursor using [▲] or [▼] and press [*] to delete characters before the cursor.
4.10.2 Inputting of Digit/Symbol/English Letter
In Personal ID or CH Name status, input numeric keys directly. Press [#] to input English letters and use the respective keys to complete input.
Steps to input characters:
- Press [#] key to start inputting.
- Press [1] key to open the ASCII code table (digits/symbols/English letters, starting with a blank character).
- Press [▲] or [▼] key to find the needed characters.
- Press the digit key that holds the desired characters to complete the input.

FUNCTIONS OF SHORTCUTS
5.1 Keys' Functions of Short-press
- [0]-[9]: Input digits.
- [*]: Switch sub-tone modes.
- [#]: Shift working mode (VFO/Channel) or input characters.
- [▲]: Shift to upward frequencies or channel numbers.
- [▼]: Shift to downward frequencies or channel numbers.
- [MENU]: Enter menu and confirm settings.
- [EXIT]: Exit or cancel settings, switch main frequency band.
5.2 Keys' Functions of Long-press
- [1]: Turn on/off scanning function.
- [2]: Switch TX Priority (Busy/Edit).
- [3]: Turn on/off VOX function.
- [4]: Switch TX power (High/Low).
- [5]: Access Menu -> Settings -> SQ Level.
- [6]: Turn on/off dual-standby function.
- [7]: Turn on/off backlight.
- [8]: Access Menu -> Settings -> Freq Step.
- [9]: Turn on/off key Beep.
- [*]: Enter/exit TX/RX inputting status.
- [0]: Enter/Exit FM radio mode.
- [#]: Lock/unlock keypads.
- [▲]: Fast increase of frequency or channels.
- [▼]: Fast decrease of frequency or channels.
5.3 Side-key functions
Define long-press and short-press functions for side-keys in Menu -> Side Key list:
- 1. Off: No function.
- 2. Monit: Monitor signal, ignore sub-tone settings, force squelch on.
- 3. Local Alarm: Device emits an alarm sound.
- 4. Remote Alarm: Device emits an alarm sound and transmits it on the main frequency.
- 5. Freq Detect: Detect nearby radio frequencies and sub-tones.
- 6. Repeat Mode: Exit repeater mode and transmit/receive on the same frequency.
- 7. Freq Inverse: Reverse TX/RX frequencies.
- 8. Weather CH: Enter NOAA weather report mode.
INSTRUCTION OF MENU
6.1 Startup
- 1. Startup Logo: Enable/disable startup logo.
- 2. Voltage: Enable/disable battery level display on startup.
- 3. Ringtone: Turn on/off startup tone.
- 4. Prompt Text: Turn on/off welcome words on startup.
6.2 Prompt
- 1. Voice Prompt: Turn on/off menu and channel voice prompts.
- 2. Key Beep: Turn on/off keypad voice prompts.
- 3. Rogger Beep: Turn on/off voice prompt upon transmission end.
6.3 Settings
- 1. TX Priority: 'Edit' transmits on the main frequency. 'Busy' receives signals and switches the main frequency to the received signal's frequency.
- 2. Save Mode: Enable/disable power saving mode.
- 3. Freq Step: Set the frequency switching and scanning step.
- 4. SQ Level: Set the squelch threshold level for receiving.
- 5. LED Timer: Set the backlight shutdown time.
- 6. Lock Timer: Set the auto-lock time for keypads.
- 7. TOT: Set the maximum continuous transmitting time.
- 8. VOX Level: Set the voice threshold level for VOX activation.
- 9. VOX Delay: Set the delay time after VOX transmission ends.
- 10. NOAA Monitor: Turn on/off NOAA monitor function.
- 11. FM Standby: Turn on/off main frequency receiving function while in FM mode.
- 12. Dual Display: Turn on/off dual-band display.
- 13. Tail Tone: Turn off/on tail tone at the end of transmission.
- 14. Scanning: Set scanning direction (upward or downward).
- 15. Personal ID: Set a personal ID, can be in Chinese.
- 16. Send ID: Turn on/off local ID function at the end of transmission.
- 17. Initialize: Restore factory settings.
6.4 CH Settings
- 1. CTCSS/DCS: Set TX/RX sub-tones. Switch sub-tone mode with [*] key, use [▲] or [▼] to switch sub-tones.
- 2. RX CTCSS/DCS: Set RX CTCSS/DCS for the main frequency.
- 3. TX CTCSS/DCS: Set TX CTCSS/DCS for the main frequency.
- 4. TX Power: Set transmitting power to High/Low.
- 5. Band Width: Set Narrow/Wide band.
- 6. Busy Lock: Forbid transmitting while receiving. 'Carrier wave matches' forbids transmitting regardless of CTCSS/DCS match. 'CTCSS/DCS matches' forbids transmitting if CTCSS/DCS does not match.
- 7. Scrambler: Set voice scrambler number for main frequencies (0 to turn off).
- 8. DCS Encrypt: Enable encryption for digital sub-tones. Only applies to digital sub-tones.
- 9. Mute Code: Define non-standard DCS codes (23 or 24 digits). Use [▲] or [▼] to choose CTCSS mode and input digits. Saved codes can be viewed here.
- 10. AM Receive: Switch receive mode from AM to FM. Initial setting is AM. Enable this to receive air band signals.
- 11. CH Name: Set the channel name for the main frequency.
- 12. Save CH: Copy and save current channel information to a specified channel. 'N' indicates an empty channel, 'Y' indicates a non-empty channel.
- 13. Delete CH: Delete information from a specified channel.
6.5 Define Side-keys
Set long-press and short-press functions for side-keys. Available functions include: Monit, Local Alarm, Remote Alarm, Freq Detect, Repeat Mode, Freq Inverse, Weather CH, etc.
6.6 Version Information
Check the version number and date of the local firmware.
