Materials to Prepare

Ensure you have the following items before starting:

  • Safe AQ Smart Meter
  • Lancet
  • Lancet Cover
  • Lancing Device (Prikapparaat)
  • Strip Vial (Stripflacon)
  • Test Strip

Important: Read the quick guide and user manual carefully before testing.

Instructions for Use

Follow these steps for accurate blood glucose measurement:

Step 1: Prepare Your Hands

Wash your hands with soap or use an alcohol wipe to clean the fingertip you will use for testing. Ensure the fingertip is dry.

Step 2: Prepare the Lancing Device

Unscrew the cover of the lancing device.

Step 3: Insert the Lancet

Insert a new lancet into the lancing device until it clicks into place and stops completely.

Step 4: Remove Lancet Cover

Twist and pull to remove the lancet cover. Keep the lancet cover aside for safe disposal of the used lancet later.

Step 5: Reattach Lancing Device Cover

Screw the cover of the lancing device back on securely.

Step 6: Adjust Puncture Depth

Twist the Comfortable Adjustable Tip on the lancing device to select the desired puncture depth. A lower number indicates a shallower depth.

Step 7: Cock the Lancing Device

Pull the spring cover (or slider) back completely to cock the lancing device. You will hear a click when it is ready.

Step 8: Prepare the Test Strip

Take one test strip from the strip vial. Immediately close the lid of the vial to protect the remaining strips from moisture and contamination.

Step 9: Insert Test Strip into Meter

Insert the test strip completely into the meter's test strip port until it stops. The meter will turn on automatically.

Step 10: Obtain Blood Sample

Press the lancing device firmly against your chosen fingertip. Press the button to obtain a blood sample.

⚠️ Attention: If you do not obtain enough blood, gently massage your finger towards the tip. DO NOT SQUEEZE your finger, as this can affect the result. If needed, adjust the puncture depth (Step 6) and try again.

Step 11: Apply Blood Sample to Test Strip

When the meter displays a flashing blood drop symbol ?, apply the blood sample to the tip of the test strip's reaction zone. The blood will be drawn into the strip via capillary action.

Note: Do not apply the blood sample to any other part of the test strip.

Step 12: Read Test Result

After a 5-second countdown, the meter will display your blood glucose test result.

Step 13: Dispose of Test Strip

Eject the used test strip from the meter. Dispose of the used Safe AQ blood glucose test strip carefully to prevent contamination.

Step 14: Dispose of Lancet

Remove the lancing device cover. Place the used lancet on a flat surface, insert the lancet needle into its cover. Eject the lancet and screw the lancing device cover back on.

Important Precautions

  • ✔️ Lancets and test strips are for single use only. Do not reuse them.
  • ✔️ Do not share your lancing device with others.
  • ✔️ Do not use expired test strips.
