Nice MOTX-R & MOTX-S Digital Keypads

Instructions and warnings for installation and use

1) Product Description

The MOTX-R and MOTX-S are dual-channel transmitters activated by a unique combination. They are designed for indoor or outdoor installation and utilize 433.92 MHz frequency with Rolling Code technology for high security, as the transmitted code changes with each use.

The estimated transmission range is 200m in open space and 35m indoors. These devices are battery-powered, eliminating the need for external electrical connections. The estimated battery life is 2 years with 10 transmissions per day. A sensor activates keypad illumination in low light, and an auto-shutdown system activates after 10 seconds of inactivity.

Audible signals indicate the device status:

2) Installation

Before physical installation, perform a practical test to assess functionality and range. Note that range may decrease by 25-30% with low battery power.

2.1) Positioning

Choose the installation site carefully, considering the distance from the receiver and avoiding proximity to or contact with metal structures that could shield the signal. The enclosure has an IP 54 protection rating, making it suitable for outdoor installation.

2.2) Fixing

Once functionality is confirmed, mount the unit at a convenient height as shown in Fig. 1.

3) Method of Use

Operation involves entering a combination (1-9 digits) using the keypad, followed by pressing the confirm key (◄ or ►) to transmit the activation command to receiver channel 1 or channel 2, respectively. A valid combination is required for transmission; an incorrect combination will trigger an error tone. Combinations must be exact (e.g., 0422 is not 422, 10422, or 04222). If an error occurs during entry, press the confirm key to reset and re-enter the correct combination. A 6-second timeout exists between keystrokes; exceeding this requires re-entry from the beginning.

Factory default combinations are:

4) Changing a Combination

Follow the steps in the tables below to change the combinations for each channel.

Table A: Changing the combination associated with channel 1

1. Press and hold the "0" key, then press and release the confirm key (◄ or ►).

2. Release the "0" key.

3. Enter the current combination and press the confirm key.

4. Enter the new combination (up to 8 digits) and press the confirm key.

5. Enter the new combination again and press the confirm key.

Table B: Changing the combination associated with channel 2

Note 1: If both combinations are identical, either confirm key can be used.

Note 2: Entering zero-digit combinations bypasses security; simply pressing the confirm key will transmit without needing a combination.

5) Normal Use

Table C: Normal use for activation of channel 1

1. Enter the combination associated with channel 1.

2. Press the confirm key (◄ or ►).

Table D: Normal use for activation of channel 2

1. Enter the combination associated with channel 2.

2. Press the confirm key (◄ or ►).

6) Maintenance

The MOTX-R and MOTX-S require minimal maintenance. Periodically check for moisture or oxidation and clean the exterior to remove dust and grime.

6.1) Changing the batteries

To change batteries, detach the keypad from its support (Figs. 2A, 2B). Use a coin to turn the cap counter-clockwise (Fig. 2C). Replace batteries, ensuring both are inserted with the positive pole (+) facing upwards (Fig. 2D). Close the cap carefully, ensuring the seal is intact, and refit the keypad to its support.

7) Disposal

This product contains various materials, some recyclable (aluminum, plastic) and others requiring disposal (electronic components). Please follow local regulations for recycling or disposal. Spent batteries and certain electronic components are hazardous and must be disposed of at designated collection points.

Declaration of Conformity

Nice S.p.a. declares that the MOTX-R and MOTX-S products comply with the essential requirements of European Directive R&TTE 1999/5/EEC.
