HOW TO ENABLE APPLE CARPLAY

Navigate to "All Apps" and click on "Apple CarPlay" in the Operating system menu.

Select "CarPlay" in the "Settings" menu of the iPhone to start the pairing process. Confirm BMW vehicle name once it appears on the available devices option list.

Now, your vehicle is attempting to discover the iPhone. Choose the iPhone you wish to pair under the "Select Device" option. Confirm the mobile device option you wish to connect by clicking on the iPhone name. Please note, your iPhone must also have an active data plan, along with Siri, WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities turned on.

1. Is there an easier way to access Apple CarPlay once the vehicle is paired? For Operating System 8, Apple CarPlay can be accessed via the CarPlay icon on the left-hand side of the Operating System menu if Apple CorPlay doesn't immediately initia te in the vehicle.
2. Apple CarPlay "Hey Siri" is not working. Why might this be? "Hey Siri'1 will not work if the feature is not turned on in the iPhone settings. T o fix thi s go to the "Settings" then go to "Siri & Search" and confirm that the "Listen for " Hey Siri'"' option is selected.
3. What's the difference between a long press and a short press on the microphone button on the steering wheel? T he long press microphone button allows you to access Apple Carplay via your steering w heel microphone button. Press the microphone button quickly to trigger Operating Sys tem speech.
Li. Can I turn off CarPlay via my iPhone? Yes, access the CarPlay section in iPhone settings and top on the green tab to turn off CarPlay.
5. Are there shortcuts avail able when using CarPlay? Yes, if CorPloy is active then all Operating System shortcuts will bring you to CorPlay shortcuts, such as the Media, Telephone and Navigation. Media will take you to CarPlay media source, Te lephone will always take you to your iPhone menu and Navigation will bring you to App le mops.
6. Can I connect my iPhone to CorPlay directly from the Bluetoo th menu via my iPhone? Yes1 put you r iPhone into pairing mode by going to usettings" > uBluetooth 11 on you r device. T hen, follow the steps as previously outlined for Operating System 8 and wait for the pop up window to appear on your iPhone and Operating System. Complete by selecting "Use CarPloy" on you iPhone. Navigate to the "Com" menu in iDrive. Then, under the "Mobile devices" section, scroll to select the device you would like to connect via CorPloy.

Select "Connection mode" and choose between "BMW iDrive" mode or "Apple CorPloy".

If Apple CorPloy is selected a pop-up will appear, select "Confirm note".

Please Note: if this is the first time pairing to Apple CorPloy, you will hove to select "Use CorPloy" on your iPhone as well.

7. What are the requirements to use Apple CarPlayTM in my BMW?
Apple CarPlay requires iDrive 5.0 or newer and BMW Navigation system. In addition, you must have an iPhone® 5 or newer running on iOS 9.3 or higher. Your iPhone must also have an active data plan, along with Siri, WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities turned on.

Can I connect my iPhone to CarPlay directly from the Bluetooth menu via my iPhone?

Yes, put your iPhone into pairing mode by going to Settings> Bluetooth on your

device. Then follow steps 2 through Li on the previous pages and wait for the pop up

window to appear on your iPhone and iDrive. Complete by selecting "Use CarPlay" on your iPhone.

Does my iPhone require a USB cable in order for it to connect via CarPlay?

No. BMW enables the wireless and convenient use of your iPhone with CarPlay.

In the event of connection issues, please make sure all boxes are checked in the

menu located in: Communications> Mobile Devices> Settings.

Is CarPlay limited to just one main screen functionality?

The CarPlay interface can have pages just like your iPhone home menus.

However, there are direct links from your BMW's iDrive screens that will take you to

the CarPlay menus when needed. For example, the Multimedia menu in iDrive will

have a direct link to CarPlay.

If I'm already connected via Bluetooth is there a way to easily connect to Apple CarPlay?

If you would like to switch modes, first check to see if the vehicle is displayed in the CarPlay

settings of your iPhone. If so, ensure it is toggled 'on' as shown in image. Then follow the steps

in this guide.
