2. Install the Latch and Strike
A. Latch Installation:
- If the door edge is chiseled, use Latch A. Extend the latch bolt if necessary.
- If the door edge is not chiseled, use Latch B (drive-in). Extend the latch bolt if necessary.
- Hold the latch in front of the door hole, ensuring the latch face is flush against the door edge.
- Secure the latch with screws (03809).
B. Strike Installation: Install the strike on the door frame. Ensure the hole in the door frame is drilled at least 1" (25 mm) deep. Use longer screws for the strike plate closest to the door jamb.
3. Install the Exterior Keypad

C. Mounting Plate Removal: Remove the mounting plate from the interior assembly.

- Attach the exterior assembly and mounting plate to the door using screws (48654). Tighten screws evenly, but do not overtighten.
- Insert the key and test the latch. Ensure it extends and retracts smoothly. Remove the key when finished, ensuring the latch bolt is fully extended.
4. Install the Interior Assembly
A. Turnpiece Shaft Orientation: Ensure the turnpiece shaft is pointing up. Remove the interior cover and battery pack from the interior assembly.
B. Interior Assembly Installation: Install the interior assembly onto the mounting plate. Ensure a tight cable connection. Lay any excess cable flat inside the bottom of the interior housing.
C. Secure Interior Assembly: Use the correct screws (49191) to secure the interior assembly.
5. Install Batteries and Perform Door Handing Process
A. Install Batteries: Install 4 AA batteries into the battery pack, ensuring correct polarity. Use new, non-rechargeable alkaline batteries for best results.
B. Initiate Auto-Handing: With the door open, install the battery pack to start the auto-handing process.
C. Door Handing Confirmation: The latch bolt will retract and extend to learn the door's orientation. The touchscreen will indicate success (flashing checkmark ✔️) or failure (flashing "X" ❌).
- If the process fails, ensure the interior assembly and batteries are correctly installed. Repeat step 5B.
- If still unsuccessful, refer to the Manual Door Handing section.
