Getting Familiar with the Appliance
Control Panel
The control panel consists of knobs for setting heat levels and indicator lights. Knobs control heat levels from 1 (low) to 9 (high). An indicator light shows when an element is on.
Heating Elements
Elements can be single or dual-zone. Dual-zone elements allow for adjusting the heating area by turning the knob to the left (inner and outer rings) or right (inner ring only).
Operation
Setting the Cooktop
To set an element, push in and turn the knob to the desired heat level (1-9). The power-on indicator will light up.
Turning Off
Turn the control knob to OFF. The cooktop is off when all knobs are in the OFF position.
Note: The heating element cycles on and off to maintain temperature. The red glow may not always be visible.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
Clean the cooktop when it is completely cool, except for immediate removal of sugar, syrup, tomato products, and milk using a razor blade scraper.
- Wipe spatters with a damp sponge or paper towel. Rinse and dry.
- Use white vinegar for stubborn smudges.
- Apply a small amount of glass ceramic cooktop cleaner and buff when dry.
Cleaning Guidelines
- Use cleaners sparingly on a paper towel or cloth. Wipe and buff dry.
- Recommended cleaners include glass ceramic cooktop cleaner, BonAmi®, Soft Scrub® (without bleach), and white vinegar.
- Avoid cleaners containing ammonia, chlorine bleach, caustic agents, abrasives, metal scouring pads, or flammable substances.
Cleaning Chart
Type of Soil | Possible Solution |
---|---|
Dry sugar, syrup, milk, tomato spills; melted plastic/foil (require immediate removal) | Remove hot spills with a razor blade scraper (use a new, sharp blade). Push soil off the heated area. After cooling, remove residue and apply cleaner. WARNING: Razor blade is sharp; risk of cuts. Protect blade when not in use. Replace if damaged. |
Burned-on food, dark streaks, specks | Soften with a damp paper towel/sponge for 30 minutes. Use a plastic scrubber and cleaner or razor blade scraper. Rinse and dry. |
Greasy spatters | Use a soapy sponge or cloth to remove grease. Rinse and dry. Apply cooktop cleaner. |
Metal marks (iridescent stain) | Treat cooled surface with cooktop cleaner. If marks persist, use a mild abrasive cleaner (Bon Ami®, Soft Scrub®) and damp paper towel. Rinse and reapply cleaner. Failure to remove marks before reheating makes them difficult to remove. |
Hard water spots; dripped liquids | Use undiluted white vinegar, rinse, and dry. Recondition with cooktop cleaner. Remove spills and stains before next use. |
Surface scratches | Apply cooktop cleaner before use to remove grit. Use pans with smooth, clean, dry bases. NOTICE: Diamond rings may scratch the surface. |
Maintenance
No maintenance is required other than daily cleaning. For best results, apply cooktop cleaning cream daily.
