Installation Requirements

Selecting the Optimal Location
Mount the detector on ceilings or walls, opposite or adjacent to windows. Ensure a clear line of sight and avoid areas prone to false alarms.
- Mount at least 5 feet (1.5m) from protected windows.
- Windows should be at least 12 x 24 inches (30.5 x 61 cm).
- Avoid locations with sound-dampening drapes, interior shutters, or high humidity.
- Optimal placement is within 25 feet (7.6 m) of the glass surface.
- Consider mounting away from corners (at least 12 inches) and potential false alarm sources like air vents or kitchens.
Installation Procedure
- Run security system wiring to the detector location.
- Remove the front cover by pressing the release tab and twisting counter-clockwise.
- Prepare the base by removing appropriate knockout holes for wiring and mounting.
- Feed wires through knockouts and secure the base using screws and wall anchors if needed.
- Strip wire insulation and connect to the appropriate screw terminals.
- Replace the cover by aligning tabs and turning clockwise until it snaps into place.
- Apply power; the red LED should flash once.
- Test the detector using the Sentrol 5709C tester.
Detector Testing
Use the Sentrol 5709C hand-held tester to verify range and operation. Follow the steps outlined in the manual, including placing the tester near the glass and activating it to check the detector's response via the LED indicator.
