It's Never Too Early to Start: Positioning in the First Years of Life

Rehabilitation teams emphasize the importance of early intervention, involving families in the positioning training of very young children, with positive sensory stimuli and play. Primo offers a solution for the lying position, both day and night.

Why Support in a Lying Position?

In the first years of life, learning to counteract gravity in a lying position can be a challenge. Support in maintaining a symmetrical posture can be of great help in learning to assume the correct lying position. Correct postural positioning is increasingly recognized as part of a rehabilitative process, aimed at making manual movement easier, improving the child's abilities and functionalities, and aiding therapy and play.

Successful Results

We work in close collaboration with therapists, families, and newborns, successfully providing our Symmetrisleep® systems. With extensive experience, our bed positioning support systems connect us daily with individuals seeking improvements in comfort, posture, range of motion, and tone reduction.

Where Can I Use My Primo?

Symmetrisleep® Primo can be used in a cot, crib, portable cot, or even on the floor for daytime therapy and play.

Product Features

SIMPLE

The Primo system is simple and easy to use: open the bag zipper and you can start using it immediately. Apply it on any flat surface from which the child cannot fall. Simply place your baby on the CoolOver sheet, and you are ready to use it.

COMFORTABLE

We have used our exclusive temperature regulation technology, CoolOver, and pressure-reducing materials to ensure the Primo system is truly comfortable for a very young child.

PORTABLE

Primo is compact, lightweight, and comes in an all-in-one bag, ready to be taken wherever you wish.

HYGIENIC

The Primo system is easy to keep clean. All fabrics can be machine washed and tumble dried on a low temperature. The base, cushions, and wedges are easy to clean.

SAFE

Flammability, breathability, compactness, and Airflow material. Complies with Furniture and Furnishings (FIRE SAFETY) regulations 2010. Complies with EN597-2, BS1877-8 1974, BS7177, BS6807, and BS4578 standards.

Primo and Temperature Regulation

If the skin temperature begins to rise, the micro-capsules in our Coolover TR3 sheets start absorbing heat, cooling the baby. If the skin temperature drops too much, the heat is released back to the baby, offering active temperature regulation.

If the baby continues to sweat even at a normal temperature, our special weave wicks moisture away from the skin and disperses it for evaporation. This superior breathability system helps keep the skin dry for maximum comfort.

What's in the Bag?

Primo comes with a bag that, when opened, becomes the system's base mattress. It can be secured to a cot or crib with the included fastening straps. A Velcro sheet is attached to the top of the mattress, onto which the Coolover TR3 sheet is placed.

The bag also contains various soft support accessories. These can be added or removed when the baby is lying on the system to position them as desired, offering soft, stable, yet non-restrictive support. Because the supports are held in place by Velcro, they do not shift and do not need repositioning unless desired, thus reducing disturbances.

CONTINUITY - THE TRANSITION TO SYMMETRISLEEP

My son Jason is now almost 19 years old and started using the Sleep System from the very beginning. The Sleep System was the only postural device we could use for him, whether he was calm or agitated, feeling well or not. I can honestly say that the Sleep System has been the best postural system we have had for Jason, without exception.

TESTIMONIAL FROM A PARENT

I prepared a Sleep System for an 8-month-old baby. His problems were due to perinatal hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, developmental delay with neonatal seizures, and later a diagnosis of severe cerebral palsy with quadriplegia. He presented severe hypertonia in all four limbs. He had marked asymmetrical posture and a notable ATNR (asymmetrical tonic neck reflex), as well as a strong extensor thrust.

The Sleep System was incorporated into a 24-hour posture management program. Currently, at four years old, the child attends a school for children with severe learning difficulties. He no longer presents ATNR or an extensor thrust.

I am very satisfied with this night positioning system. I believe that introducing it so early has had a significant influence in making this child's posture symmetrical. He will certainly continue to use this night positioning system, and we hope he maintains a symmetrical posture.
