This manual provides instructions for installing and using the BIXOLON Windows driver for label printers. BIXOLON is committed to continuous improvement, and product specifications or manual content may change without prior notice.
2. Operating System (OS) Environment
The following operating systems are supported:
- Microsoft Windows XP SP3 (32bit, 64bit)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1 (32bit)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (64bit)
- Microsoft Windows VISTA (32bit, 64bit)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32bit, 64bit)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (64bit)
- Microsoft Windows 7 (32bit, 64bit)
- Microsoft Windows 8 (32bit, 64bit)

3. Windows Driver Preparation
The Windows driver is available on the included CD. The latest version can be downloaded from the BIXOLON website at www.bixolon.com.
4. Windows Driver Installation
4.1 Installation on Windows XP/Server 2003
4.1.1 For Serial or Parallel Ports
- Double-click the Windows driver installation file.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Select the COM or LPT port and click "Next".
- A "Hardware Installation" dialog may appear with a warning about Windows Logo testing. Click "Continue" to proceed.
- Click "Yes" to reboot the computer.
- Open the Printer Properties window in Windows OS.
- Navigate to the "Ports" tab and click "Port Configuration".
- Match the communication settings (e.g., Baud Rate, Data Bits) to the printer's specifications.
- Click "Print Test Page" to verify the installation. A successful print indicates the driver is installed correctly.
4.1.2 For USB Ports
- Double-click the Windows driver installation file.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Select the USB port and click "Next".
- A "Hardware Installation" dialog may appear with a warning about Windows Logo testing. Click "Continue" to proceed.
- Click "OK" on the dialog prompting to turn the printer off and then on again.
- Turn on the printer.
- The "Found New Hardware Wizard" will appear. Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and click "Next".
- Click "Next" again.
- Click "Next" to continue the search.
- A "Hardware Installation" dialog may appear with a warning about Windows Logo testing. Click "Continue" to proceed.
- Click "Finish" to complete the wizard.
- Verify that the USB port is correctly set in the printer's properties.
- Click "Print Test Page" to verify the installation. A successful print indicates the driver is installed correctly.
4.1.3 For Network Ports
- Double-click the Windows driver installation file.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Select the "Network" port, enter the IP Address and Port Number, then click "Next".
- A "Hardware Installation" dialog may appear with a warning about Windows Logo testing. Click "Continue" to proceed.
- Click "Yes" to reboot the computer.
- Open the Printer Properties window in Windows OS.
- Navigate to the "Ports" tab and click "Port Configuration".
- Configure the TCP/IP port settings, ensuring the IP address and port number are correct.
- Click "Print Test Page" to verify the installation. A successful print indicates the driver is installed correctly.
4.2 Installation on Windows VISTA/Server 2008/7/8/Server 2012/10
4.2.1 For Serial or Parallel Ports
- Double-click the Windows driver installation file.
- Click "Yes(Y)" on the User Account Control prompt.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Select the COM or LPT port and click "Next".
- A "Windows Security" dialog may appear asking to install device software. Click "Install" to proceed.
- Click "Yes" to reboot the computer.
- Open the Printer Properties window in Windows OS.
- Navigate to the "Ports" tab and click "Port Configuration".
- Match the communication settings to the printer's specifications.
- Click "Print Test Page" to verify the installation. A successful print indicates the driver is installed correctly.
4.2.2 For USB Ports
- Double-click the Windows driver installation file.
- Click "Yes(Y)" on the User Account Control prompt.

- A "Windows Security" dialog may appear asking to install device software. Click "Install" to proceed.
- Click "OK" on the dialog prompting to turn the printer off and then on again.
- Turn on the printer.
- The "Driver Software Installation" dialog will appear, indicating the device is ready. Click "Close".
- Verify that the USB port is correctly set in the printer's properties.
- Click "Print Test Page" to verify the installation. A successful print indicates the driver is installed correctly.
4.2.3 For Network Ports
- Double-click the Windows driver installation file.
- Click "Yes(Y)" on the User Account Control prompt.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Select the "Network" port, enter the IP Address and Port Number, then click "Next".
- A "Windows Security" dialog may appear asking to install device software. Click "Install" to proceed.
- Click "Yes" to reboot the computer.
- Open the Printer Properties window in Windows OS.
- Navigate to the "Ports" tab and click "Port Configuration".

5. Windows Driver Detailed Settings
5.1 Print Basic Settings
Access the "Print Basic Settings" dialog from the printer properties. Here you can configure:
- Copies: Set the number of copies to print.
- Speed: Adjust the print speed.
- Density: Set the print density.
- Orientation: Choose between Portrait and Landscape.
- 180 Degree Rotation: Enable or disable 180-degree rotation for the printout.
- Paper Size: Define the Width and Height of the label.
- Printable Area Margins: Set the Left, Top, Right, and Bottom margins.
These settings can be saved and managed.
5.2 Adding Paper Size
- Click the "Basic Settings" button within the printer properties.
- Click the "New Item(N)" button to define a custom paper size.
- Enter a name for the new paper size, specify its dimensions (Width, Height), and set the margins. Click "OK" to save the new paper size.
